I was constructing an additional to a house and I thought I was buying the underground tank from Eastern Propane. After charge above market prices, I went back to the contract. Eastern owns the tanks and I need to use Eastern for five year. I will have to pay 2 k and a $300 early termination fee to get out the contract. BUYER BE WARE of Eastern Propane

Kingston Propane came out promptly to give an estimate for propane to be installed. He gave a lot of helpful information about propane, the install and the service. They sent out a through proposal with everything clearly stated. Unfortunately the price was high than the other estimate we got.

Customer service is non-existent, often it is hard to speak with someone even between the hours of 9am - 5pm. Paperwork was never sent to me when I said I wanted to sign a service contract, and I received an automatic delivery of oil that I did not sign up for. Overall, a horrible company.

First, I called Eastern Propane and was given the name of an individual to speak with, to find out costs and details. Then, I generally had a very difficult time reaching that individual for up to a week -- apparently due to his participation in a workshop. When that individual and I finally spoke, I was told that in-ground installation was the best route for our home ($3,000). Next, when I repeated that, due to safety concerns, my husband and I (both engineers) preferred above-ground installation, I was told that the price for the tanks and the pad for the above-ground installation would cost $1,800 -- however, this contract stipulated that there would be no assurance that the cost of the line from the tanks to house's propane inlet would not cost additional significant funds. In fact, I was told that it was likely that there would be additional costs associated with running the line from the pad to the house. I felt as though there were no choice, and was resigned to moving forward with that option. Finally, I decided to call another vendor. Amazingly, that vendor told me they install tanks and coordinate with our boiler contractor to assure that the propane line to the house was installed correctly, for a total of $300! Everything went smoothly with this latter propane provider, and, they were actually really pleasant to work with (versus Eastern Propane). We saved $1,500 by going with someone other than Eastern Propane for our services.

The scheduling was very easy and the work was very thorough.

They do a good job. They are professional and nice.

This was the only company to call me back. The salesman would not come to by house before 11:00 a.m. He said there would be too much traffic on 128. Who wants to make a sale around here? He did get there an hour earlier than planned and seemed annoyed that it would take ME 45 minutes to get home for him to make the sale. By the way... Who ever heard of a green gas tank? Glad we have bushes around to hid it. Took an afternoon off from work. When the service man came he did not have the right tools. 11/2 hours later he came back. Took an afternoon off from work. Waited 2 weeks for the company to call me to set up an appt for an inspection. They blamed me for no calling them. Had to have it inspected by the city. Eastern Propane did not come for the inspection. They forgot to set that part up. Took an afternoon off from work. 2 weeks later we finally have it inspected. Took an afternoon off from work. I will say, they put the gas line in right.

The structure for how they arranged pricing for heating oil made it difficult to continue using their services. They are inflexible in their price plans, although they are the ones who had suggested the particular plan to me. I was paying $4.60 per gallon two winters ago, where no one else was paying even close to that. They also did not deliver oil until I was completely out and called them myself, when I was under the impression that I was on the automated delivery plan. Their repair service was reasonably good, but I have since found another company with a more reasonable and flexibile price structure.

They could not seem to get the schedule right with the other service provider we had to have involved. This was fundamental to our project and did cause some issues. They will deliver the gas to us when we need it.

Eastern Propane has excellent prices and service. When we researched propane prices last year, they had the best prices in the area. In addition, they have been very good about filling our propane tank on a regular basis. We would recommend them without reservation.

The Eastern salesperson ("Mike") was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The installer arrived when promised (with one of the nicest trucks we've ever seen!). Eastern arranged the necessary inspections and coordinated with our heating contractor with no problems.

They started coming every month so they could charge the delivery fee. We told them to go back to once a year. Instead they didn't come at all and we ran out, so that when we called them they were going to charge us an extra emergency fee. We will finish what we have in tank and switch to natural gas.
