F&W Pest Control

I am surprised to be writing this bad review, both because I seldom write a bad review and because I was very happy with F&W for the last 35 years. However, recently they have become nasty and even dangerous. They not only choose not to continue my service, but they also refuse to provide service that I paid for, and they will not address the transfer cost of equipment that I bought from them, and now they're threatening to enter my property -- without notifying me (and during the periods I already paid for-- and remove equipment that has been put there by their replacement merchant. That is just too much. If they want to leave God bless them, but they keep finding more ways to cause trouble. = = = deep detail F&W has become prone to billing errors that sometimes take real effort to untangle. I discussed that with the manager in what I thought was friendly and polite, but she responded by telling me they were dropping me as a client. While this is annoying, it would not have generated a bad review, but she then upped the ante by telling me they would no longer provide services I already paid for, then they threatened to enter my property and remove items I bought from the new merchant. I let them know I would still remain silent about being terminated but was concerned about the very large front end cost they charged for my termite services. I suggested that if they planned to stop servicing this, they owed me the font end cost. by contacting other dealers who used the same Sentricon equipe and found several who would take over the existing equipment, minimizing F&W's financial responsibility. A new company took over all the services, but then found that F&W had not really been maintaining the termite system. They said the traps were had not been serviced in over 5 years (I have been paying $250 for many years). I would have been more surprised, but by now I had read several other reviews who said the same thing. I then went online to see if I owed F&W anything. Instead, I found a notice that someone was coming to my house next week to remove the equipment. The current equipment's was rebuilt by the new merchant, and before that it belonged to me as I had paid for it. I notified them they had no legal right to enter my property, and they did nto respond, but the schedule is still showing up. I do not understand any of this, but I cannot see any way out of this if they just want to make trouble.

Do your home work! FW pest control came out when we had a suspicion that we may have a squirrel problem. we got another quote from a company based on a 600 square ft Bungalow on our property for 250 from a competitor that said it was likely not squirrels and was mice. but if it was squirrels they would not be able to do the job. FW came out to give there opinion and quote and told us that he couldn't confirm that it wasn't squirrels and would need to treat it as wild life removal and quoted 750$. Since we believed that we were possibly dealing with squirrels we decided to go with FW. Fast forward to the morning they arrived. with in ten minutes of arrival the gentleman that came not the person who came and quoted us said he was sure we didn't have squirrels and it was mice and would treat the job that way insinuating that it would be less money all thought not saying for sure what it would be. He sealed up a few possible openings in the basement laid some bait put some powder in the ceiling where we heard noise. confirmed again by the site of mouse droppings in the ceiling and the mouse tracks in the basement that it was definitely mice. he finished with a cap on the dryer vent. which I confirmed you can get at home depot for 7.99 cents go look it up. and then saw a small crack near the chimney where he agreed he didn't think any thing was getting in but put a wire cone that is meant to allow one way travel. also about 5 dollars or less in metal hardware cloth. took him about ten minutes to install but insisted because better safe then sorry. comparing this service with what the other pest removal place told us they would do the only thing different was the one way cone and perhaps the 8 dollar dryer vent cover. with in minutes of leaving we were charged the entire quote of 750 bucks. thats just crazy. no price adjustment as they really didn't do any wild life related stuff at all other than one small wire cone. after telling me several times it def wasn't squirrels. I was expecting that ok it would be more just because they specialize in wild life and not just mice but when told it was mice and had a insinuation of less money or I would have told him to stop the second he confirmed it was mice to stop and paid him 100 dollars to leave and had the other crew come for 250. instead i made the mistake of assuming we would be less then the original quote I dont know maybe 500 at the max. I definitely didn't get my moneys worth at three times the cost of the other company and one little wire one way screen where I didn't think it was needed in the first place and a dryer vent cover. To make matters worse I called the owner and he tells me basically too bad we did extra work over the mice work and he wasn't going to do anything for us. just bashed the other company saying they wouldn't have done what we did how can he know that when they explained to me what they were going to do. Definitely cant recommend these guys unless you are forced by MA law to use a wild life removal expert as Squirrels are deemed protected wild life.

Scheduling was a cinch, as was obtaining a price quote. Price seemed very much in line with (or better than) other comparable providers in the area. On day of service appointment, specialist sprayed, sealed cracks, and set traps for rodents, insects, and termites. Couldn't do exterior spraying due to rain, but easily set up separate appointment to have that done. Insect presence has improved considerably on the interior, and clearly they identified a number of gaps in the exterior where pests were able to gain access. Am now on a regular service/maintenance contract with them and, thus far, am very pleased.

I have worked with F&W for many years. When I purchased my home, F&W did some bug and mouse clearing. Then, they were able to remove some nasty wasps one summer. Now I rent the house and trust them to keep it in great working condition. Thanks to James and the team at F&W

We have a swimming pool and some yellow jackets had made a nest in the diving board itself.  We also had wasps forming nests along a rock wall nearby.  F&W came a day after we called and I thought maybe the guy would do a standard sprayin which I didnt think would work.  But instead he came in full beekeeping gear (helmet, smoker, suit, etc) and got right into the diving board to give a thorough spray.  He also fully sprayed the wall.
The pests are gone and they did a great job with a quick response time.  Best part is that with our annual plan, if the bugs come back, we just call and F&W comes back at no charge.

The gentleman was very professional.  There is a ton of snow outside and he wiped his feet repeatedly and then covered his shoes with disposable booties.
He spent over an hour tearing my bedroom apart, looking in every crevice, crack and nook for bugs.  This included sliding a card through several "gaps" in my bed frame to ensure that there was no evidence of pests.  He also inspected all of the base boards, behind picture frames and all around the doors.
After an inspection of my bedroom he examined my couch and then spent 20 minutes looking at my luggage.  I was very pleased with the quality of his inspection.  He really made every effort to find the bugs.
He gave several suggestions and follow up instructions.

When we requested that F&W's most experienced bat bug personnel be assigned to our project, the supervisor refused and instead sent someone who was very nice but not part of the bat bug team of specialists at F&W. As a result, we continue to see bat bugs in the same part of our house, despite having four treatments done over a 6-week period by F&W. Their supervisor now claims we must have bats in our attic and is insisting we pay him a lot of money to do bat exclusion, despite the fact that we had this work done by another company only two years ago.
We discovered that the F&W supervisor's quote for bat exclusion was considerably higher than quotes we received from two wildlife removal specialists, both of whom said they wouldn't recommend bat exclusion now because they saw no signs of recent bat activity.
Our recent experience with this company has been painful.

Arrived promptly, mannerly, knew his job, pleasant, completed job quickly but not too quickly.  Will use again. As Seniors, we had 10% cost deducted.  Don't have checkbook with me, so not sure of price but seemed reasonable.  Price I put in not accurate, but had to put in a price in order to put response on line.  Will correct later.

We like them very much.  We don't see them as much, they just come and they know where all the traps are and they just do it on their own and they leave us with what information with what they found and didn't so it's like I don't even have to think about it. They would have gotten an A because they came by our house once and I felt that we got a little overcharged for something else.

Have used the service quarterly for years.  Friendly professional technicians.  Very responsive when boring wasps liked our house.

I have an on-going maintenance contract with them. They show up on time and leave a message for me that shows there has been no activity. They are always professional and clean up after themselves. They are not at all disruptive and make sure my back yard gates are closed because I have a dog. The company was doing business with the prior owners of the home so we continued our relationship when we bought the house.

They are prompt. They are good about their billing. We haven't had any infestations. The price is good. I will continue to use them.

We are having great success, no ants in the house.

All things went well until about a week ago.  I recently had my deck sanded and stained and was out inspecting the work with the contractor when I noticed black ants on the deck and the railings.  I noticed this more than once and for consecutive days so I contacted F & W about the problem and mentioned that I had been advised that the treatment would last about six months and yet in only three months ants were back.  Their only response which they repeated over and over again is that I had selected a one-time treatment ($150) and there was no warranty with that service, ants of no ants!  So since their costly treatment provided only three months coverage I have opted to treat the foundation of my home with products available for the do-it-yourselfer and never to use them again!

They did an excellent. I was very pleased with them. They came back when the mice didn't all disappear.

They come around 4 times a year, but what's nice is if you call them in between they will come out to look at things. They have been out to take care of wasps, ants, and spiders. We have been using them for almost 40 years. They have done a very good job and have kept us bug free for the most part. They also set traps and inspect the attic for bug issues. We have had 3 or 4 different technicians work at our home and they have all been wonderful! They come out at about the same time each time they come, and they send out an email before they come so that I can reschedule if necessary. I remember the first year we moved into our house we had an ant problem in the Spring and they came out and the ants were gone within just a few days.

It has definitely helped control our spider and other bug population as we live in a wooded area. Was a bit disappointed upon inspecting some of our termite traps - over the years some have broken and I would have expected F & W to replace the broken ones as part of the service plan, but they have not replaced any of them over the 2 years I have lived in the house. It makes me wonder if they have been checking them at all.

They have taken car of mice problems. They are very friendly, very professional, competent and responsive.
