★☆☆☆☆ Avoid Metro West Contracting at all costs I cannot warn people strongly enough: stay far away from Metro West Contracting. We signed on in mid-March (permit pulled March 13) for what was supposed to be an 8-week project. Owner Dave assured us the only long-lead item was the radiators (10-week delivery) and that everything else would be completed so the radiators could be dropped in at the end. The radiators were never ordered. By the time Dave realized his mistake, the ones I had specified wouldn’t arrive until July. It is now mid-November, and we are still not finished. The substitute (cheaper) radiators that were eventually installed don’t even work properly because the plumber stubbed the pipes in the wrong locations — despite my having supplied detailed cut sheets on February 19 showing identical dimensions for both the original and substitute units. That same pattern of incompetence repeated itself everywhere: • Pool deck concrete was stained the wrong color → had to be reordered. • New pavers look great (the masonry crew is actually competent), but they buried a sprinkler head, severed landscape-lighting wires, and sliced through the sprinkler controller wires on the front walk, then left the cut wires sticking out of the ground without telling anyone. Result: thousands of dollars of new sod died while I spent an entire Saturday troubleshooting what I thought was a dead controller — only to learn the wires had been deliberately cut and abandoned. • When I pointed out that the front walk pavers didn’t match the pool-surround pavers we had just paid for, Dave’s response was that he “wasn’t going to fix all the preexisting problems at my house.” I sent him his own photo, taken the week prior, clearly showing the buried sprinkler head that his crew had just covered. Only then did he agree to rip out and replace every paver on the front walk, side entrance, and grill area. Kitchen and bath issues (just a sample): • Pull-out kitchen faucet installed with the hose wrapped around the drain pipe so the sprayer will not extend. • Master bath sink stopper inoperable. • Guest bath door will not close. • Guest vanity drawer destroyed: plumber ran supply lines too low, then someone took a Sawzall and removed ~70% of the bottom drawer instead of asking how to solve the problem. Dave promised a new drawer — months later only a can of touch-up paint arrived instead. • Master shower valve installed backwards and inoperable. • Brand-new guest bath floor now squeaks badly in multiple spots. • Shower glass not installed until June 9 (12 weeks after start). No explanation ever given. • During demolition the plumber never bled the hydronic system — we had no hot water for days. The final insult: when the crew returned in November to connect the radiators, they turned the water on without checking the fittings. The system leaked and flooded the dining room below, ruining the ceiling. They patched the ceiling within days (before it had properly dried), so we are now waiting for the inevitable water stains to bleed through. Eight months later — four times longer than promised — the vanity drawer is still missing, the heating system has never been properly bled, and we are living with a long list of half-fixed or completely ignored defects. This was not bad luck; it was a total absence of supervision, accountability, and basic quality control. No one ever walked through at the end of the day to verify that doors closed, water ran, heat worked, sprinklers operated, or that the materials delivered were actually what had been ordered. Metro West Contracting treated our home like a practice. Do not let them treat yours the same way.
