Dana Storrs did not only inspect the three chimney flues, but the connections to furnace and water heater as well, explaining the safety feature on the furnace in case of flue failure, and the absence of such on the water heater (and what to look for instead). Climbing on the roof he found the bluestone on top of the chimney loose. And, when we mentioned it, had a likely solution to the occasional water leaks from the chimney in the attic that had stymied several contractors. He spent about an hour for $79. Dana Storrs is professional, extremely knowledgeable, thorough, personable, and honest. He provides detailed accounts of his findings. . We highly recommend DM Storrs Chimney - a vast difference to the chimney services we have experienced over many years.

The guy doing the work was professional. More unusually, the owner called me the week before, because she was going to be on vacation while the service was being performed, and she wanted to make sure I didn't have any questions ahead of time and to give me a number in case I needed to reach the guy doing the work on the day, which I really appreciated it (even though I didn't end up needing it)

DM Storrs completed the job in two visits weather permitting and exceeded expectations by matching the design and work to the historical integrity of the house. Quality of work and final appearance is clearly important to the company. Dana finished it off with a beautiful copper cap. Greatly appreciated and would hire again without a doubt.

Had to wait a few weeks for an appointment for them to come look at the job, they are busy and were booked out, abs then next appointment wasn't for another month, but they showed up and did the work. Cleaned up as they went along, and were very professional and nice. We'd hire again.

It went very well

Very easy to get an appointment and the office called the day prior to confirm. The chimney sweep showed up a few minutes early and conducted a thorough inspection of the chimney,  flues, and furnace smoke pipe. We only needed the smoke pipe cleaned and that was done well with no mess or soot on the floors or elsewhere. The team was very professional and explained the process clearly.

I called them in October when most chimney people were too busy to even schedule an appt to come out, let alone do the work.  Alexandra in the office is extremely helpful.  Her people came out, gave me a very reasonable estimate, worked with me to answer my questions and came back when scheduled to do the work before the weather would make it impossible.  They did a a great job.  Very positive experience!I I recommend them highly.

Dana was recommended to us by a friend who is resident in another building in Back Bay.  Dana initially came to scope out the work involved, and provided us with a unit-by-unit estimate.  He was extremely reasonable in his approach, especially in comparison to a number of other contractors we had come out, some of whom were urging us to undertake much more involved (and costly) restoration projects.  He installed the flue liners in each chimney at a price that was exactly what he originally quoted us.  The quality of the work was outstanding -- I'm now able to use one of my fireplaces that had not been operational since I moved in 6 years ago (and I was told by another contractor would require major reconstruction in order to get it operational).  Moreover, Dana was extremely professional and polite, and left my apartment so clean I would not have been able to tell that he'd even been in the apartment. 
Additionally, when a few of us in the building smelled smoke in our apartments after using the fireplaces, Dana immediately recognized the problem.  He fabricated and installed smoke guards in the fireplace openings to better channel the smoke up the flues, and he did this completely free of charge.
Throughout the project Dana could not have been nicer to deal with.  He took the time to explain to each resident the work that was involved, and why he was doing what he did.    His office manager also was extremely courteous and helpful any time I put a call into their company.
I would strongly recommend DM Storrs to anyone wanting prompt and outstanding fireplace work done at a reasonable price.  I would rate him an A+ if the scale went up that high.  

Recently moved into Foxboro and consulted with DM Storrs prior to move
to get an accurate understanding of the issues related to the effect the
heating system had on the chimney and its masonry.    Dana was very
professional and thorough and made every effort to thoroughly evaluate and
explain the issues.  Today he finished inserting a new liner and will
wait til the spring to have the masonry repaired.  Happy with every
aspect of the work and look forward to working with the company again.

Excellent. They called and offered to show up early. Inspected both chimneys, told me one did not need a cleaning and fixed my second fireplace for just the cost of the sweep (it was an easy fix). They were honest and told me things to watch out for and when to call them back. They did a great job, will be using them in the future.

Dana and crew are very skilled in their craft and are extremely professional (and clean!). We have used them for chimney cleaning and to install a wood burning insert into our existing fireplace. He is always available by phone with questions and is responsive to all of our needs throughout the year.
