We have had several return visits for repair, as after each one we have still been hearing popping. The repair person has repeatedly missed and rescheduled visits. When he has been here, he has sometimes arrived later than promised and worked for less than the promised time. After his last visit, our request for a new appointment -- made the day of his visit because we heard more pops the same day -- has gone unanswered for a full week.
The situation has been improved, as many of the pops seem to have been stopped. However, 8 months after installation it is still unsatisfactory and we are still dealing with the problem.
We paid a premium to hire Sears over some smaller local alternatives, expecting that with a national organization of some repute and a satisfaction guarantee, we would be satisfied. So far we are not.
UPDATE: Got an inspection visit from the manager. He agrees that it is clear that the installation was not done properly, and says he will order some (by my estimate, about half) of the installation work redone. I will update this again and revisit my evaluation once that happens.
UPDATE: One month later, no rework has been done. We don't even have an appointment for the rework to be done.
