Metropolitan Air Conditioning & Heating

Unfortunately, something has definitely changed with their service.I had used metropolitan air conditioning and heating for over 7 years. This past year, their service declined to the point where they would not show up for maintenance calls.For three months I would try to schedule maintenance on my HVAC system only for them to reschedule or worse, not show up. I spoke with the owner who said he would check things out and give me a call the next morning. Guess what? That didn't happen either. I even asked them that if they no longer wished to service my system they should just tell me so I could find someone else. Well I did and they are wonderful. Very responsive and thorough. See the picture of what they found in the flue which was probably why I had so much dust and particles through out the house. I am leaving this review so others don't go through the same experience.

Exceeded expectations. Metropolitan Air was extremely efficient arrived when they said they would , went right to work to diagnose the problem. They explained what the problem was and everything that would be done to fix it. Let me know when parts would be available and kept me in the know. They were very neat and easy to work with. They made sure everything was working perfectly before they left and followed up with phone calls to ensure customer satisfaction. Could not ask for better customer service

Metropolitan has been my HVAC contractor for over 20 years at five locations, both commercial and residential. They perform annual maintenance plus emergency repairs, and I have hired them on major jobs as well. They are ALWAYS responsive, professional, reasonably priced, and reliable. I have never been disappointed. I tried other contractors before discovering Metropolitan, with poor results. When I find a winner, I stick with them, and they are always dependable.

My husband suffers from a respiratory problem and it is important that he is always on oxygen and in a cool environment. When the central AC went down during a heat wave this year I was shocked that I called seven local specialists and none of them would come out. But luckily the eighth time was a charm and the crew from Metropolitan Air came right away, removed the old system, and installed the new in a single day. For us they were literal life-savers.

Tech arrived when promised, identified and solved the problem. The malfunctioning AC unit is in a rented apartment and the tenant was extremely satisfied with the speed and quality of the work done.

Metropolitan is great. They've installed the system for our house during a gut-renovation, updated it over the past 18 years, and maintained it. They've consistently offered us great choices, explained our options well, and been reasonably priced. Their field staff has worked beautifully with other trades-people -- never any friction, and the office staff has been responsive and helpful. It's inevitable that sometimes repairs are necessary, and when that happens we're REALLY glad that we are a Metropolitan customer. I'm a designer, so I've worked with other companies on many job sites. I've never questions my choice of Metropolitan for our own home. They've taken care of us well, and we're grateful.

Buzzy was very helpful in quickly diagnosing problem (clogged filters leading to frozen coils in attic unit) and providing advice  about future appropriate maintenance.

We've relied on Metropolitan for the past sixteen years. In the past they've installed our system, cared for it, come quickly when we called for service, and answered our questions thoughtfully., They are intelligent about understanding needs, and they work really well individually or with the rest of the construction team. Great communicators, and they set realistic expectations.

This is the third time I have called these guys in the past year, and each experience has been terrific.
We just bought this house 10 months ago, and the natural gas/forced hot air HVAC system is quite old.  My first call was for Metropolitan to perform a heat shield test when we were in the process of buying the house.  My second call was for help in figuring out getting the system up and running again after a major power outage (I hate pilot lights etc.). But Mark talked me through it, and I ended up not needing anybody to come out to the house after all.  The third time was an annual maintenance call. Each time, Metropolitan was prompt, professional, responsive, friendly and helpful.  I would use these guys again in a heart beat, and would gladly recommend them to friends and neighbors.

After spending a fortune on another business's mediocre work, we were thrilled with Metro Air.  He diagnosed the problems instantly, found the most cost effective solution and educated us about what he was doing every step of the way.

They are competent professionals. I like their service.

I have been using this company since 2001 when I purchased my condo.  I have semi-annual maintenace done on my system every year.  I have had nothing but excellent service from them.  If anything goes wrong with my HVAC (and that isn't often) they come right
out and check it and make any necessary adjustments. 

This company installed the heating and air conditioning systems in our house while it was being entirely renovated by a developer. They installed 2 systems, one in the basement and one on the top floor. The systems were crammed into such tiny spaces that the ducts and dampers are therefore convoluted and out of reach to the point that we need the help of a professional to open and close the dampers every 6 months depending on heating or cooling needs. The problem is that they didn't make a map of the system and no one else but the technicians who have actually worked on the orginal installation can figure out which damper corresponds to which register and room. So we have repeatedly used them over the years, hoping each time that we would finally know how to do it ourselves. Despite our requests, they have never produced a map for us. Finally, we have given up and switched to another company who has been more helpful.

Another major issue we had with them and for which we found them very unresponsive, was that the thermostats were also badly installed, in all the wrong places. On the main floor, the thermostat (which commands the unit for 2 floors) was placed on a wall at the exact location of a heat pipe beneath the dry wall. The thermostat therefore shows temperatures that are widly different than the ones displayed by an isolated device we have placed on a piece of furniture elsewhere in the room. When I confronted them with this (you can easily feel the heat of the pipe with your hand on the wall), they denied it and denied that this was affecting the temperature of the forced air into the room. The top unit is placed behind a door which we keep closed because it is the entrance to a bedroom. Because of that the thermostat doesn't reflect the temperature of that floor at all, closed off by the door. The children's room on that floor get very poor heat because of that. When I requested help and demonstrated to them that the baby's room was not getting enough heat, they suggested - no kidding- that we make a big hole in the door.

To conclude, we still scramble every new season to adjust the air in the house because we have a system that has been poorly designed and installed and despite our efforts to persevere with this company since they had more knowledge on the device, they have overall been quite unresponsive and uncooperative and we have finally given up.
