I hired this company to install two egress windows and an external stairway.  Both windows and stairway needed to have the area dug out down to the footings.  No weather seal or rubber membrane was installed between the egress and the basement exterior wall causing water and mud to flow into the basement every time it rained.  The company does not have to do this but should have either done it or asked if I would have liked this to be done.  I would have paid more for them to do so.  I am not in construction so it would be helpful that someone who is had noted this as an option. This issue not only delayed the basement work but cost me an additional $4000 to have a French drain installed.  You cannot finish a basement if there are ongoing water issues. In addition I hired them to level out part of a floor that is in a basement bedroom.  They did not fill in the area between the interior wall and the wall frame.  The overall leveling job was sloppy.  I could have done a better job and I have no experience doing so.  It is just plain negligence and lack of work ethic as far as I am concerned. The grade of a C is giving because the work is just average for the windows and an F for the leveling job that actually created more problems than it solved. I expected more from a company that has been in business for 20+ years.
