I called and was given an appt the next day. Mr. Collins was prompt, and gave me a quote in a timely manner.
The work was done and I am thrilled with the new doors. The new motor is quiet. The doors are beautiful.

The provider was called twice, a week apart to repair a residential garage door. The property owners are an elderly couple are over 80 years old. The technician arrived and diagnosed the problem as faulty pulleys and mis-adjusted limit switches. The pulleys were replaced and the limits were reset according to the invoice.
One week later the door failed again and again the same technician arrived and informed the couple that the entire lift motor and drive needed to be replaced, a $400.00 repair. The elderly gentleman informed the technician that was not the case, and request it be, " fixed right this time". The technician continued to push the suggestion that the entire unit be replaced, finally the elderly gentleman, who ran a large business for over 40 years, informed the technician that he could fix it right, or leave. The technician insatlled a gear set and again rest the limit switches, or so claimed the $150.00 invoice.
Three weeks later the door fails again. This time the elderly couple called me, their daughter. I have owned my own businesses all my life, and those businesses had large garages with large overhead doors. I arrived and saw the destroyed gear set, I than manually worked the door and found it was binding. This being caused by the improper setting of the limit switches. I called the Collins Overhead Door, identied the customer, and reviewed the repair invoices. I explained to Malisa, that the door failed, Again! And than proceeded to describe why it failed, and requested she dispatch a proper technician who would repair the door correctly while I was at my parents home, a one and a half hours drive from my home. This repair I requested be done at no expense to the elderly couple who had already paid twice for a simple repair. Her answer was No, BUT she would replace the entire unit for $400.00, less the $150.00 second service call credit.
I informed her I could replace the entire lift unit for, $180.00 at either Sears or Home Depot ( Liftmaster 1/2 HP Security +), or I could order the gear set from Amazon for $25.00 and repair the lift myself. She said she would not return to the property unless she installed the $400.00 unit. I informed her that would not be necessary. The doors were only 10 years old.
I replaced the gear set, lubricated the moving parts, and properly adjusted the limit switches. The door was binding badly in the raised position, this was the cause of the gear failure, and was the problem all along.
Collins Overhead Doors, of Everett, MA employs unqualified service and repair personnel. They tried to rip-off an elderly couple.

Our Garage door opener (From Sears) was about 18 years old. The remote device stopped working and I discovered that they no longer made a replacement for it, so I had to replace the whole garage door opener with a new one.
After doing some research I contacted Collins Overhead Door (the number was also attached to the back of my garaage door, so I believe the previous home owner had used them). I was nice and very convenient to have a local company to deal with, as it made the whole process much faster.
The were a breeze, and pleasure to work with. The scheduled my install within about a week. The installer showed up right on time. Actually, he was a few minutes early. The install was smooth and easy. It took less than an hour. The gave me prices for several options via email the week before. I got he LiftMaster with Chain drive.
The pricing was comparable to Home Depot and Lowe's, but also included installation, which was an additional fee of about $120.00 at the Home Centers.
A couple of weeks after the install, the chain needed a minor adjustment, is it started to sag slightly. The tech come right out the next day, on time, and fixed it in about ten (10) minutes.
Excellent, professional company to deal with. I highly recommend tham.

I telephoned for an appointment on a Tuesday and was offered several possible times over the next few days to schedule a serviceman. The sales representative on the telephone was courteous and professional, taking me through the various options for my residential one-car garage. She actually saved me money by steering me toward a more appropriate model of opener than I had suggested. On the appointed day, the serviceman, Dave, telephoned early to say that he was in the neighborhood and asked to come early, which was convenient for us. He was professional and friendly, explained what he was doing at each step, when I asked--I wasn't watching over his shoulder--and carefully took me through the operation manual, before leaving. He was quick and efficient, cleaned up the area, and took away the old motor and parts at my request. I'm delighted with the results.

We called for an estimate and had a visit the very next day. He told us that because we were ordering a color other than white (gray), it may take and extra week or so for the delivery. He estimated the time to be about 3 weeks. It ended up being 4 weeks from the time of the estimate.
Two workers showed up bright and early on the day promised - even though its the day of hurricaine Sandy!!!! They worked straight through from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and did a thorough and professional job.
We are very pleased with the look of our new doors and with the manner in which this company operates.
Happy to give a recommendation to anyone who needs new overhead doors.

Yesterday, I was about to go to work, when my garage door opener's sprocket broke off. The chain snapped off the motor, and I had to open the garage door using the safety latch. A friend of mine recommended Collins Overhead Door to me, so I double checked the Angie's List reviews and decided to call. I'm glad I did. I spoke with Krista, in the service department who said they could have someone over the next day between 8a-12p. (I probably could have had one the same day, if I called before 12 and asked for the 12-4 slot!)The next day, I was worried when 10am rolled around and no one had shown up yet. I called the company and Krista checked and told me the tech would be at my home by 11am. He sure was! David from Collins Overhead Door showed up just before 11, and was confident he would be done by 12. He said it takes about 30 minutes to install a new garage door opener. I was skeptical, but I watched him really do it. He got the new rail and motor set up in little time. He tested it, but he wasn't satisfied with the setup. So he adjusted things here and there until he was satisfied. He walked me threw setting up my new code, and he politely let me enter the code in private. I really appreciated that he answered all of my questions, and he even swept up after himself. He tested everything he installed, carefully, and repeatedly. I may have paid a little more than what a few people paid for similar work on Angie's List, but the quality of work is worth the difference. I will recommend Collins Overhead Door to anyone else who needs their garage door repaired or serviced.

The spring on one side of our overhead garage door broke. I called the company, they provided the minimum cost of a visit and set up an appointment for the next day between 12:00 and 4:00 P.M. They asked for a credit card number. The repair man came punctually at 12:00 and took about 30 minutes to repair the door. A couple of days later the invoice arrived by mail. The garage door works like a charm.

Dreadful. An almost never-ending nightmare. Original door was wrong width becasue measurement made incorrectly by company, Very long delay for correct door. As a result unable to have door painted professionally when house was being painted as was the plan. Company eventually delivered and installed "painted" door with paint separately purchased for them (extra expense). Their electrical installation consisted of dangling an extension lead from the overhead unit down to the floor an running along floor to wall socket. Had to have separate professional overhead electrical installation performed to complete the job to code at my expense. Painting was incompetent with missed bits exposing raw unprimed wood. Door became warped and water stained because of poor painting job. Saga continued. Eventfully after many distasteful conversations (very unpleasant people to deal with) door replaced painted by them with paint I again had to pay for. Once more their panting proved unprofessional and sloppy. Door once more in water stained. At this stage I have given up. I would never ever use this company again.

He arrived when expected, came back the next day to do some extra agreed upon work for which he didn't have a part available at the time, was pleasant to work with and thorough examining the garage doors. The price was quite reasonable given the work done and the conditions at the time (quite cold).

Left a message with a live answering service over the weekend. (asked if it was an emergency-I said no). They came out Tuesday to diagnose, Wednesday to install a new unit, which was also defective, Thursday with another unit which works great.

They did a good job and there were no problems with them. They usually do a great job. I have old doors so they are able to take care of things very well. I would recommend them to other people any time. They have a great service.

I HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH COLLINS. THE DISPATCH SERVICE CALLED ME A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF OUR AGREED SERVICE WINDOW, AND THE TWO TECHNICIANS ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE BEFORE I DID. THEY WERE POLITE AND EFFICIENT IN THEIR WORK, AND THEY EXPLAINED EVERY MODIFICATION TO THE DOOR THAT THEY MADE ALONG THE WAY. I THOUGHT THAT THE PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE FOR THE SERVICES RENDERED. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT, AND PLAN TO CONTACT THEM FOR PRICING OUT A NEW GARAGE DOOR.
