It was very good.  They knew what they were doing.  They worked with the weather and our tenants as well.

   Jim Roberts  gave me an estimate for the roofing job I wanted done; this estimate was made entirely on the basis of the area he would need to strip and re-roof.  He mentioned that should they find a bad area of wood requiring replacement under any part, we would then be additionally charged for the cost of the wood.  Disposal of old roofing was included in the price he quoted me. He said that he would be able to fit us into his schedule in about 3 weeks and I decided to go with him.      A month later I had not heard from Jim so I gave him a call and left a message on his answering machine which he returned the next day.  He promised to come the following week and, as promised, his crew arrived Monday morning.  Four men stripped the old roofing and installed new roofing, over the next  2 1/2 days, cleaning up the ground completely at the end of each day of work.  I ended up leaving a key for the crew because their compressor for the nail gun was tripping our circuit breaker from time to time.  Since I had to work, I had no option except to leave a key for them but they turned out to be totally trustworthy and always locked the house before they left for the day. This spring I noticed a couple of shingles, below one dormer, had slipped down.  I called Jim and left a message for him concerning this and, after a week, I still didn't hear back from him so I called him on his cell phone.  He promptly returned my call this time (within a few minutes) and said he would come some morning the following week.  He also said to give him another call by mid-week, to remind him, if he didn't arrive by then.  I did end up calling him and he came by on Friday to tack down the two shingles. Overall I was very happy with the quality of the roofing work done, the fact that his crew cleaned up meticulously after each day of work,  and I felt the job was done at a fair price.  I did have to be persistent in calling to leave reminders (the squeaky wheel gets the oil!) so if this is not for you, don't hire Jim because I do think he gets very busy and doesn't always keep as close track of his schedule/comittments as would be ideal.  If you don't mind leaving a key, this issue becomes far less important as his crew can then come and go as needed and you don't have to miss any days of work to stick around to reset your circuit breaker.

It was a miserable failure.
