Ed Callahan and his team were excellent roofers. They were as quiet as possible in the early AM, they were very neat and above all covered and protected my wife's gardens. They worked around weather condition and tried to finish on schedule do to our

Appointment after first contact on time, informative.  Quote and contract delivered as promised.  Scheduled date for service kept as promised, e-mailed a picture of work in progress.  Work finished on time and impressed my neighbors who inquired and took his card!

I called Ed to give me an estimate to patch a spot on my roof and also to replace my entire roof.  He came out the next morning.  He was very professional.  I had had a few roof shingles blow off my roof.  I wanted to cover that area sooner rather than later while I gathered estimates for an entire roof replacement.  He returned early the next morning with supplies and patched the area beautifully.
In addition, he provided me with a very fair estimate for a new roof.
I also asked Ed to accompany my husband and I on a home inspection to a new property we were thinking of purchasing as this house also needed a new roof.  Ed was honest and professional and admitted that the scope of the work needed at this address was beyond him.  The work involved far more than the roof.   I was actually impressed with this.  We didn't need someone to fake a number with us as we were contemplating the purchase.  We needed real estimates so Ed's honesty was appreciated.

Ed and his helper did a great job.  They were punctual and hard-working and they were good at cleaning up.  Ed is very good about communicating what he is doing, and what his daily schedule is.  He was a pleasure to deal with.  We had other quotes and felt that Ed's prices were very fair.

We experienced some water damage from a leak in our roof.  The home was built in 2003.  Our builder is no longer in business so we went to Angies List to find a roofer in hopes that one would return our calls.   Ed responded immediately and came to our house as scheduled.  
He diagnosed our problem as a leaking ridge vent.  Our builder had used an aluminum vent and the caulking had begun to fail. Ed quoted separate prices to replace the problem ridge vent (Main house), the front dormers and the detached garage with new Cobra Ridge Vent material.   We agreed to replace all of the vents and waited for a day that would be warm enough to do the job. Ed contacted us once the forecast showed the first expected warm day and he showed up with one crew member to complete the job in one shot.
The shingles he affixed to the top of the vent blend in perfectly and we found no debris left over from the job.   The leak seems to have been fixed too.
Throughout the process Ed kept in touch via email and phone.   He is very consciences and professional.
We will call Ed again for any future roofing needs.

Highest marks for this service provider. Arrived ten minutes early for the appointment. Assessed the roof issues and repaired them on the spot. Very knowledgeable and professional, and his charges were very reasonable for the work performed.
A roof leak in general creates an opportunity for a contractor to do almost as much as they want to to "repair" a situation, since finding the true cause is beyond the technical capabilities of most homeowners. Have the shingles failed? Does the flashing need to be replaced? Is water penetrating the clapboards or other siding material? Has the chimney separated from house? Solutions can be simple or very costly, so honesty is critical.
Ed Callahan went to the most obvious, least expensive possible sources of the leak and fixed them. Above all else, it is technical excellence and integrity that are most important when hiring a contractor, and Callahan Roofing has those qualities. He's earned my business going forward for sure.

They were excellent.  They were timely.  They were impeccable with their work.  They always kept us informed if they couldn’t come; their communication was excellent.  They had great work ethic and did great quality work.

He started each day at 0730. The materials were already pre-delivered. The entire job was done in 4 days (probably would have been faster but it was unusually hot all 4 days). He works with one other man. The job site was kept clean and there was little disruption. He asked where he should park his trailer so it was out of the way. The roof looks great. Ed even took care of a few other details for me that he was not obligated to do. He noticed a leak in a pipe on the addition of our house (that was not being reshingled) and fixed it for free. He then showed up the next day, when I was home, to make sure I was happy with the job. He also pointed out areas of my side wall that I should keep an eye on (wood shingle areas) and described some extra work he did to address potential leaks. He definitely has customer satisfaction in mind. Again, the roof looks great.

It was fine. He was very prompt and curteous. He did the work very quickly. I would definitely recommend them.

Everything went along fine. Ed was very responsive and punctual. He gave me an accurate estimate and stuck to it; no surprises. He removed old roofing, put down new water shield and shingles and cut in a new ridge vent. He and his helper worked quickly and meticulously cleaned up after themselves; you could hardly tell that anyone had even been there except for the nice new roof section.

I have never done business with Callahan Roofing before but was encouraged by the reviews on Angie's list. Ed Callahan came to my house early on the Sunday morning before Hurricane Sandy was about it hit. The original purpose was to provide me an estimate. He examined the leak in my attic and climbed onto my roof where he identified a crack that was causing the leak. He repaired the crack that day because of the impending storm. I found Ed to be a thorough professional committed to fixing his customers' problems.

I called Ed and he got back to me in a timely manner, he came out to my house the same day. Gave me an on the spot estimate,and made the necessary repairs. He was very friendly and professional. I would definitely use him again in the future as well as recommend him to friends and family.

I called him twice. He called me back once. He said he was very busy but would get back to me with an after he checked out my home. I called him again and no answer. He has yet to call me back and its been about a month.

Using the ladder, he thoroughly inspected the whole roof and determined 1/2 needed replacing (the other part was done 3 yrs. ago). The estimate was a fair one. His work was meticulous, thorough and done in a timely fashion. The crewman cleaned up all the debris as he went along so nothing piled up on the lawn and towed it away each day in his truck. The new roof was an excellent match to the other 1/2 and it looks beautiful.  He also did an incidental job while on the roof, such as trimming the overhanging branch from a tree. I'd highly recommend Callahan for a roofing job!
