When I called the office they were responsive and came on the date and time that was given. The guys were polite and friendly. They broke the wire for my invisible fence but had someone come right away while they were here to fix it. The invisible fence worked fine when they left. I would hire these guys again."

Amherst Nurseries grows most of our own trees and shrubs on 100 acres here in the Pioneer Valley. We are the only landscaping company in the area that grows most of the trees and shrubs that we sell. We operate a retail nursery on Route 9 in Amherst and provide full landscaping services.

A spot herbicide for weed control is effective at killing crabgrass and not grass, but it depends on the type of herbicide. Overall, spot treatment is ideal because it puts fewer herbicides into the soil, which can damage the soil. If you’re wanting a natural remedy to crabgrass that also won’t harm surrounding grass, you can also hand-remove crabgrass or even pour boiling water or 5% vinegar over crabgrass as a spot treatment.

Putting too much lime on your lawn can change the soil's pH level from acidic to alkaline. While grass doesn't do well in acidic soils, an alkaline situation can be just as detrimental to its health.
