Mark is a very nice guy, and did a great job. After 9 years, my stove had reached a perfect storm, where a number of things were going wrong at once. The thermostat was dead (which I suspected), some wiring I had spliced together and repaired with electrical tape years before was finally losing it's conductivity, and an important piece within the stove itself had finally burned out. Mark worked on the stove for about 3 hours, fixing each problem as he came across them. Of course, he also performed a regular "cleaning" on the stove as well. He had all the parts he needed in his truck and did a great job. I know he didn't expect to stay at my job for as long as he did (he had two other jobs to do that afternoon, and I doubt he got to both of them), but he took his time, was very thorough, and didn't leave until he was completely satisfied the stove was back to perfect working order. He charged me $310 for everything, all parts, labor and driving. Very very fair.
Description of Work: I have a 9 year old Hearthstone Propane Stove in our 3 season porch. I'd had it serviced only once before, by A-One Gas (about 4 or 5 years ago), so it's pretty reliable. However, this year, when I tried to turn it on when the fall weather arrived, the stove refused to light, even though the pilot light was on. I played around with the wall thermostat connected to the stove and, with the little knowledge I have, played with the stove, trying to get it to work. No luck. I called A-1 and left a message and Mark called me back promptly and explained to me that he was very busy putting in stove installations for the fall season, and that it might be easier for me to get someone more local. I tried, and it wasn't. Some of the companies won't service a stove unless you've bought it from them. And others said I was out of their service area. Out of desperation, I called Mark back, and he graciously found a way to set up a time to get to my house, within a few days.
