After receiving the full amount of money from us in September 2007 Kenneth Lania disappeared for about 3 months. We called him twice a week to find his voicemail full. Upon persistent calling, he called back and promised that he will get the work done. In Jan 2008 he proposed some plans to us which required us to move into the easement that we share with our neighbor. Neighbors did not approve so we could not go ahead with the verbal plan. When we hired him, in his consultancy he had said that he was confident that he could do this within our budget. He had reviewed the proposed plan by the landscaping company and was well aware of what was being asked to do. He disappeared again for 3 months - after which he mentioned how his house was robbed and then how he broke his foot and so on. Come summer we pressed the issue and he proposed a plan which was 150% more than what our budget allowed us with very expensive wall systems. He threw the plan over the wall and disappeared again. All in all, we have nothing from him - a year and 4 months later. He says that he has done the work that we paid him to do but has no artifacts to give us. We are investigating with the state authorities to file a formal complaint at this point. If you need detail, I am willing to forward all email communication and phone records of number of calls we made to reach this unprofessional and highly unethical person. Our impression now is that he works mostly for big corporation and when he saw an opportunity to cheat an innocent homeowner - he did that. Beware. His costs was higher than what the landscaping company had told us, but innocently we paid whatever he asked us. Later upon calling various engineers we found out that he had overcharged us by 40%. We feel cheated and deceived with nothing to show for.
