We were pleased with their service.
The 2nd visit , 10 days later, was 45 minutes to replace the defective faucet under warranty.
The work was performed satisfactorily. However, I feel i was seriously overcharged for this work.
Back in 2005 when they did the original work, they billed us $90/hour. Now, they billed me $120/hour for the repairs.
I called to ask about this increase and the person on the phone defended their prices. I said that the economy has been in bad shape lately and I don't see many people earning 33% more than they did in 2005. They stood by their inflated prices.,
In addition, the office woman told me that they were there for 51 minutes and 45 minutes so they charged me for 2 hours. That is 24 minutes short or $48 over at their rates.
I feel that $120/hour for plumbing repairs is outrageous, especially to fix your own shoddy work. If they had installed it correctly in the first place they wouldn't have needed to come back and fix it. And charging me for more than the actual time is adding insult to injury.
"*"The original kitchen faucet they installed was defective so they came to replace it" The original kitchen faucet had been supplied by the homeowner - we cannot offer warranties, never mind 7 years later on fixtures supplied by the homeowner. Our visit was to repair the pipes and we also advised the homeowner on how to get a FREE replacement faucet from the manufacturer, thereby saving him several hundred dollars...Then we returned to install the faucet. *'the pipes under the sink were cracked' 'to fix your own shoddy work' 'If they had installed it correctly in the first place' Quite a bit of over exaggeration. All of the work performed in your house was done to code, inspected and has worked perfectly fine for 7 years, so after daily use and a lot of wear and tear you had a simple leak that was easily repaired. *'Back in 2005 when they did the original work, they billed us $90/hour. Now, they billed me $120/hour for the repairs. ' Our 'construction' rate is lower because there is an economy of work, a full 8 hour day can be charged at a lower rate (buy in bulk, it [Member Information Removed] less), unlike the service truck that has only 5-6 chargeable hours a day due to time at supply houses and [Member Information Removed] between jobs that is unchargeable time but we [Member Information Removed] pay our employees. As for a rate increase, nothing [Member Information Removed] less than 8 years ago, fuel, trucks, insurance, materials, salaries...be realistic! *"the office woman told me that they were there for 51 minutes and 45 minutes so they charged me for 2 hours. That is 24 minutes short or $48 over at their rates." We have a minimum of one hour charge, that is a standard industry practice."
