Computer Domain & Mass Data Recovery

My external drive was working very slowly while I was using it on an older Windows computer that was working fine. I ran a Disk Cleanup and Defrag and the drives operation seemed to get worse. Then I noticed that thousands of photographs and music files were gone! I brought it to the Geek Squad (GS) at Best Buy in Dedham. I had asked them to recover thousands of photographs and music files. GS transferred what they could from my affected external 1 TB drive onto another external drive that I supplied. They did not recover any files that I was not able to access. I told them that and they said it would require a data recovery process where they would send it to a distant location and that would cost at least $900. The gentleman I spoke with suggested that even though GS does data recovery, I should take it to any 3rd party recovery company! Mass. Data Recovery was the first place to come to mind. I went there and met with Kostas and he explained the many aspects of the recovery process. It was clear to me that he was a professional and had done this type of work for many years. He was quite conversational about the work that they do. I am sure that with his great reputation, he gets a lot of work that keeps him and his staff busy. Yet, he took time to talk about the valuable do’s and don’ts about computer maintenance. He did a quick evaluation and felt he could probably recover all of the missing files. He sent me an email the next day. He was able to recover everything! He and his staff are very professional and trustworthy. I will definitely return to the Computer Domain if I need assistance again. I would highly recommend him to anyone with computer troubles.

My desktop PC had been throwing errors, and a recent software upgrade had not proceeded normally. I called and spoke with someone on the phone and asked if i could bring the PC to them for evaluation. I was told to bring it to them, and did so a few minutes later. The technician immediately hooked up the machine and started it. He reviewed the error logs and may have done some other tests, I am not sure. He said that the machine needed immediate replacement because it was in poor health and was not worth repairing. When I asked what the charge was for the assessment, I was told there was no charge, which was a pleasant surprise. I brought the machine home and have subsequently purchased a replacement.

Recycling was easy. Service was fine.

It went very well. When I went into their shop to get an evaluation, I felt that they quickly understood what might have happened. They explained what they thought they would need to do and what they expected the results to be. They explained what some of the outcomes could be that might still cause me some problems. But the work was performed in a day with the best possible outcome. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

This company has been in Oakdale Square in Dedham for 11 years. They are very professional, friendly and welcoming. You can call in advance, as I did, and they'll tell you to come in and they will do a quick evaluation and quot;at the counterand quot; with you and offer solutions and an estimate.
My laptop had been very s-l-o-w and was evidencing messages that several software programs had and quot;stopped working.and quot; As it turned out, my computer had a virus and the hard drive was history. Matt, the lead technician, explained to me after just a couple of minutes of reviewing my computer's hard drive after I explained the issues I was experiencing. He gave a detailed explanation of the action that would be taken to repair my computer, answered my questions and gave some valuable advice, which I welcomed as I am not a wiz by any means! A new virus-prevention program (free) was installed to replace the [very expensive] software I was using. I received a phone call within 24 hours to say that my computer would be ready that afternoon. I picked up my laptop and was very impressed with the work that was done, and the detailed explanation. I was happy to hear from Matt that I should feel free to call with any questions. I couldn't be happier -- my computer is running well and fast. I will definitely return to the Computer Domain if I need assistance again - I recommend them highly.
I was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff -- Matt was great. I witnessed a Mom and her young son at the counter and was impressed by the way the staff member and young boy were communicating. Computer Domain does data recovery and makes house-calls. If you're and quot;hinkyand quot; about leaving your computer at the shop, then this option works well.

The guys at Computer Domain are the best! I have used them for both business and personal computer services over the past 5 years. They give free evaluations and are very fair with the price! They did not charge me this time (which was very, very nice of them) but in the past, I have found the price to be extremely reasonable and they normally give the price upfront which I find very helpful! They provide very quick service which is extremely important when they are servicing my work computer. I have nothing bad to say at all about these guys! Great local business who I will support for a very long time!

My over five year old Sony laptop couldn't get past the windows start screen and made a terrible whirring/ clicking noise. I looked up computer repair services on Angie's List and came up with a list of 3 potential businesses. Computer Domain was the only place that did not charge for an evaluation. I brought my laptop there and Kostas (the owner) was very clear, knowledgeable and professional. He explained that the problem was likely very serious and potentially one that would be very costly. I decided to give him the initial $100 to try to fix it and planned on getting in touch with him in a week. A few days later, Kostas called me and informed me that his initial fear was confirmed. To recover the data from my hard drive would cost in the neighborhood of over $1000. At the time, I decided to forgo the fix and went to Computer Domain to pick up my defunct laptop. Upon arrival, Kostas decided to refund my $100 as he said that it didn't take him much time to discover the problem.
A few weeks later, my husband decided to bring the laptop back to Kostas to have him recover the data and in a few weeks, over 98% of my data was recovered and placed on an external hard drive that I provided.
In summary, my experience with Computer Domain was top notch. While the cost of repair was very high, I felt that the service and results I received was worth it. I would recommend Kostas as a small business owner with great integrity and pride of work quality and professionalism.
