Great. Charlie was in touch quickly and the price is extremely reasonable. Also, he told us about a better rebate plan that will save us extra money

We typically get multiple bids on projects of this size. Maurice's was among the 3 bids we got for the work. Of the providers I spoke to and actually met with, he was not only the most professional, but also the most willing to problem-solve without taking on undue risks or overpromising on what he could deliver.  This was a little bit of a tricky job as it required getting through some tight spaces to get to this particular part of the house. Other plumbers quoted 2 - 3x what Maurice did suggesting the project would require huge excavation of a crawlspace, etc.  Maurice, on the other hand, didn't assume anything. He thoughtfully explored the space, used his problem solving skills, and came up with an efficient and affordable solution. And I'm sitting in that space now, toasty warm on a -2 degree morning. If you want someone who's knowledgeable, smart, honest (and who doesn't have a condescending bone in his body), hire Maurice and Above Quality. He freely educates and makes us better consumers for it.  He's become our go-to plumber and we feel lucky to have found him! Above Quality Plumbing is 100% truth in marketing.

This job, along with all the other jobs he has done for me is excellent. The sink looks great, and works perfectly. He leaves the workspace cleaner than he found it. His work is indeed Above Quality. You can trust this man 100%. His work is truly superlative. His prices are fair, actually a bargain considering how good the work is.
I really cannot say enough good things about him.

Maurice was very professional start to finish. He called to say he was early if that was ok (positive #1). Explained the process as he was going along and finished in an efficient manner and cleaned up as if he was never there. His overall presentation was friendly and polished. To top it all off, Maurice did not rip me off when it came to pricing. I will definitely use Maurice again if need be and anyone seeking a plumber should use him.

Maurice is the best plumber in town.
He came to our place, quoted us by far the best price for our two family house. He did two separate drains and water lines to our kitchens. He removed old rotting main drain and connected a new one. As well he did venting and all the plumbing work for a new laundry hook up.
Maurice is very kind, helpful, and friendly. I had a lot of hassle with many contractors throughout the process of my renovation and his professionalism was a breath of fresh air. Highly recommend him.

Great! Bathrooms look terrific. Nothing but positive comments. Maurice came when he said he would. Performed the work in a knowledgable and professional manner. Have used him for other plumbing jobs, ie. leaking pipes, clogs, faucet replacement and other small jobs. We are most pleased with the timing, the work and the responsive professional manner in which the work is done.

Before we used Maurice for our new house, we had hired him before at our previous condo (new toilet install) and at an investment unit we owned (repair of kitchen sink garbage disposal and repair of cold water supply to shower mixer).  We knew his work to be meticulous and that he was very considerate of other people's homes.  He was also very good at troubleshooting - instead of punching a hole in the wall to reroute the cold water supply to the shower in our investment unit, he cleverly dropped a Pex tube through the mixer opening to the basement where he was able to connect to the supply.  Thus, we had no reservations about hiring him for our new house.  I did check other plumbing estimates to ensure that his pricing was fair and it was comparable to other estimates.  The entire housebuild took about 16 months.  During his times at the site doing rough and finish plumbing, he worked hard and often late into the evening, sometimes at subzero temperatures.  He is very personable and coordinated well with other subcontractors such as the excavator, raintank guy, electrician, interior/kitchen designer, and fireplace guy.  Town inspections went smoothly.  Maurice always cleaned up after himself and often after other contractors.  I could tell when he wasn't around for an extended period of time because the site would get messy.  He covered new shower/tub units with cardboard to protect them and stored a glass shower door at his house for several months so it wouldn't get broken on the site.  He kept our plumbing fixtures in his truck so they wouldn't get stolen.  He noticed that a plumbing part delivered to the site appeared to have been installed before, and he had the plumbing supplier deliver a replacement part to his house by Fedex the next day.  He also has excellent caulking ability, rivaling that of our glass guy.  Finally, I believe that the true measure of an excellent contractor is his/her willingness to return when things aren't perfect, and Maurice fulfills that standard, coming back to replace a faucet hot water stem when one of them leaked and to fix a shower strainer at no extra charge.  I highly recommend him.

We were introduced to Above Quality through a general contractor doing a larger project for us.  This was a new meets old addition, adding around 1500 square feet to our home.  Our experience with Above Quality was good, albeit with some pros and cons.
The pros:
1. He does all the little things well that you would do if it was your own job/house: he cleans up (after others and himself), he shovels if he's the first person there. 2. Mo (Maurice) is super thorough and thoughtful in his installation plans3. He works alone and isn't subbing things out to incompetent subordinates (that can happen with others)4. He has a great truck, stock, and organized "system" for doing new construction projects with all the parts and pieces you need in plenty of extra stock on-hand organized nicely.  Many a times you run into plumbers who bid the job then run out 15 times to get elbows and stock they forgot because they keep nothing on hand.  He's not them, which means he's more efficient. 5. I would expect no callbacks or issues with anything he does6. It is indeed...."above quality," he choose a good name7. Mo seems like a very straight shooter, an honest and genuine person who isn't out to screw anybody, but is fair in what he does8. His early finish work (we are just finishing the rest now) seems to be exemplary (think about all the detail required in large showers/tubs/sinks with little widgets/covers/lining up of things)
The cons:1. He is slightly rigid in his approach2. The cost as passed to me, whether direct or not (and somewhat due to my prior experience building) was always high.  We had a rub around cost (for an extra bathroom we added in the basement, and some extra plumbing) early on in the project and it made for bad morale at various later other points, combined with the inflexibility was a challenge.  This was as much me as him, as the "extras" quote was $9,000 additional for what I saw was a new bathroom and then basically $6,000 to do the project as originally spec'd.  The issue was that the original plumbing in our house was not deemed capable of supporting the addition, and I get that, but I just couldn't get over the $9,0000 price tag for that and the new bathroom.  I couldn't even have a conversation about it I was so livid, especially when the builder had told me it was likely sub $1000 just a few days earlier.3. There was one or two minor things that would have been nice if done differently, and were caused really by the "old meets new" aspect of our house (for example, when the addition was put on our existing roof vent ended up in the roof valley ,and rather than move it roughly 15 feet inside to connect to the new vent that Above Quality was installing, it was left, flashed, and deemed acceptable.  For 15 feet of PVC it seemed like a cop out to me, and this is where some of the inflexibility comes through in that it wasn't a line item in a quote, but is still the right thing to do, but wasn't done because of cost.   Could have been due to our rub/morale issue in con #2.
You get a great result with Mo and my firm belief is that your system will last for a long time, but you might only get 90% of the way there (flexibility) and you're likely to pay a bit more than you hoped.

Above Quality was a sub for a major renovation project that we did to our home.
We had all new plumbing put in the home for three new bathrooms (1 tub, 1 show, and 1 half-bath), kitchen as well as a laundry room we moved to the second floor.
Maurice handled the installation of everything- form pipes, to fixture, to toilets, to washer and dryer.
He was great throughout the process.
The best thing was, when we would go to our house on the weekends to check on the construction progress (we had to move out of our house) Maurice was always there -- he always said that he never wanted to be the reason any of the work was being held up and that it was easier to work on the weekends when no one else is around.

I can't imagine anyone having a difficult time with him (like I saw on another review). if you meet him, you will find that he is a very thoughtful conscientious  person.  Gosh, my kis grew to love him.

Maurice is a total professional. His work is clean, effective and affordable. He himself is prompt, polite and wonderful to work with. He ensures that you understand the options available for the job(s) and provides appropriate referrals should the job require it. We will continue to use Above Quality heating & plumbing for our future plumping needs.

My experience with Maurice went very well. He came on 1/23/10 to give me an estimate. Out of three quotes, his was the most economically. On the day of service, he came on time and did excellent work. He was clean and courteous, and answered all of my questions. I was extremely pleased with the service. Without reservation I would hire Maurice again, and plan to in the near future.

INCOMPETENCE, IRRESPONSIBILITY AND LACK OF CARE - ARE THE THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE MAURICE O'CONNOR. HE LEFT OUR FAMILY WITHOUT A TOILET, WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW ACCORDING TO MY TOWN'S BUILDING INSPECTOR. HE WAS COMPLETELY UNAPOLOGETIC ABOUT IT, TOO, BLAMING ME FOR BUYING FIXTURES HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH EVEN. ALL THESE FIXTURES WERE AVAILABLE TO HIM FOR INSPECTION AT THE TIME OF HIS ESTIMATE VISIT AND LATER. HE CAUSED UNNECESSARY DAMAGE TO MY MARBLE VANITY TOP BECAUSE HE WAS NOT COMPETENT OR CARING ENOUGH TO PICK UP A $6.00 PART AT HOME DEPOT THAT WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THE DESTRUCTION. HE WAS UNACCOMODATING ABOUT SCHEDULE AND CAME ONLY WHEN HE FELT IT WAS WORTH HIS WHILE. TOILET JOB WAS TOO SMALL FOR HIM TO BOTHER. HE IS VERY GOOD AT PASSING THE BLAME AROUND (MANUFACTURERS, OTHER VENDORS, OTHER CONTRACTORS, HOMEOWNER), AND VERY BAD AT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS OWN ACTIONS.
Response from Above Quality Plumbing & Heating
"First I would like to say that I am not incompetent. I go up and beyond any other plumbing company. I care about every job and customer, and take offense at the lies I have read. I would like to to respond to the comments the member has made about me, I would like to explain what happened. I first went to meet with him to look at her job. I arrived at her house at the time that we had agreed on. The showed me what she was planning to do. To save money she supplied all the fixtures, shower valves, faucets, strainers, etc. I looked over all it and found no problem in install them. She called me to tell me that she wanted me to do the work. I went to the town hall before work was started to pull the permit. I then schedule with her a time to come over to remove the first floor toilet, sink and shower trim. I then schedule a time after the demo work was done to come back and install the shower valve. I came the day we agreed on and did the work I was suppose to. I then got my inspection and passed. I then schedule a time after the tiling was done to come and install the toilet, sink, and shower trim. First thing that morning she had her tile/demo guys there, they were there to demo the second floor bathroom. I removed the toilet and disconnected the tub so they would have something to do. I then installed the flange which is the fitting that holds the toilet to the floor. I went to install the toilet, the toilet would not sit flat on the floor, i removed the toilet and found that there was two drain holes on the bottom of the toilet , the second hole was hitting the flange raising the toilet off the floor. I called her to tell her what was going on, I got her voice mail. I then called her husband he told me not to do anything until I heard from her this was in the morning. I then removed the baseboard heat so the tile guy could install the vanity and countertop. I then Installed her supplied faucet. Installed new shut-offs. I then attempted to install the strainer, the tailpiece would not fit through the hole that was drilled in the marble. I asked the tile guy if he could make the hole bigger because the tile guy was working with marble tile for the floor and walls so I knew he could make the hole bigger better than I could. The tile guy grinded into the marble countertop and made the hole big enough for the tailpiece. I then placed the vessel sink over the countertop which covered the hole no problem. I then went to install the strainer and tailpiece, after installing the strainer I went to install the tailpiece, and found that it was to short and would not thread into the strainer. I called her again to see if i could get in touch with her, voice mail. I would have to go to a supply house to find a longer strainer which would be an extra charge because the strainer was purchased by her, in the beginning when I looked at the sink and strainer she told me that the strainer was meant for the sink. I did not hear back from her until 4 because she was at work and could not call me back which I understood. I told her what was happening and she told me if she got another toilet would i put it in, which I said yes. She then asked if i would be back to install the upstairs shower valve to which I replied did you get the other valve that was needed for upstairs, she said no, I said I would want to do both at once then coming back a second time which would make more work. I then heard back from her four hours later screaming at me saying I was incompetent, and how I left her without a toilet."

Maurice was very responsive. He called within about 24 hours of my email to him and did the work within about a week of that call. Each time he arrived within the hour of the agreed time, so not exactly on time, but I work from home so did not mind, and most contractors are much more late or do not show at all. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and stuck to that amount, so did the job without extra charges. The 3 jobs were done very well and fast. That excellence reflects his 15+ years of experience and his professional schooling. I would certainly recommend Maurice O'Connor and would use him again.

I cannot recommend Maurice enough. He gave a reasonable quote, showed up when he said he would and put in extra hours to keep the job on track. He and his apprentice, Nate, treated our house and our belongings with the utmost care and were always friendly and polite. As for the quality of his work, other contractors have commented on how well done the job was. My family and I are certainly happy with it.

Mr. O'Connor met all expectations. In the span of 1 week, with Mr. O'Connor's assistance, this job was successfully completed to everyone's satisfaction. Maurice performed an on-site inspection and subsequently provided a cost estimate that same day. At my request he worked through a third party to schedule a convenient date and time to begin this plumbing job. Mr. O'Connor arrived at the job site on time and performed the agreed upon work. Maurice included in his cost estimate all of the ancillary materials needed to complete the job. There were no last minute surprises. I have no reservations at all in recommending Mr. O'Connor and attesting to the professionalism and quality of his work. As I plan further improvements to my condominium unit, I will definitely consult with Maurice and look forward to working with him again.

It was fantastic! I had an appointment for 12 noon and Maurice, the owner, called two hours early to see if I was available as they had finished a prior job earlier than expected. He and his apprentice, Nate, were there within 30 minutes and, even though I didn't feel it was necessary, they were extremely diligent about putting the booties on every time they came into my house. They were there for about an hour and a half and were two of the most pleasant service people that I've ever worked with. They worked at the job until the drain was completely cleared and filled the tub twice to let it drain to make sure it truly was working the way it should.
