The result was very good and the work was professional. The owner came out and provided a written estimate. The final bill was larger because there was a problem with the catch basin (specifically excluded in the estimate), and the underlying ground was wetter than expected (not mentioned in the estimate. I recommend asking whether the condition of the ground under any existing driveway will change your estimate, and if so, get a value in the initial estimate to cover that contingency.

I thought that the guy from the company was very engaging. It was very important to him that he knew exactly what it was that we wanted him to do. We discussed it at length when he came the first time. He called to verify with us the day before he came, which I thought was great. He wasn't as communicative as he could have been about the backups, but the weather may have contributed to it. We thought the pricing was fair for the job that he was doing.

I called Joe for an estimate. He showed up on time, was easy to communicate with and flexible. He and his helper Scott, who takes care of the railroad ties, went out of their way to locate a larger size tie and used rebar instead of spikes to secure them better. Joe checked in the day before the work was scheduled to get our permission to do prep work that afternoon. The work was all done within 24 hours. Joe's workers are thorough, careful, friendly and they clean up after themselves. They did a very neat job. Highly recommended!

Mass Bay Paving arrived at 7:30 in the morning, and the speed in which my old decrepit driveway was removed was surprising. It was fascinating watching the whole process! After the asphalt and concrete removal, they removed an enormous underground gutter pipe that didn't flow anywhere. Then the dirt was leveled, and the gravel base was added. Then the first layer of asphalt, then the final layer. The delivery of the asphalt went very smoothly, everything was timed perfectly. Asphalt cools quickly, so this is a crucial part of the process. They repaved every nook and cranny around my porch and foundation, and everything is pitched away from the house perfectly. The rain water runs away from both houses, and flows right down the center of the driveway as promised.

The day after I called, they called me with an estimate and said if I wanted the job done while they were in the area they would knock $25 off the price for the convenience. When they got to my home, they did a quality job, very quickly and neatly. They answered any questions I had, and even warned me against sealing the driveway too often. I was informed 2 years until the second time and another 4 years after that. I was very pleased with them.

Joe and his crew did an excellent job. I happened to catch him in town on an errand and he quickly came by to give an estimate. Our driveway was in pretty rough shape and had large tree roots poking through from a tree we had previously removed. Unlike other pavers who gave disclaimers and warning about extra charges depending on what they found, Joe promised to get the job done correctly at his quoted price. His measurement of the driveway also matched mine, something that wasn't true of all the pavers I brought in. The crew arrived promptly at 7:30 a.m. and, with the exception of a lunch break, working straight to 4:00. They were pleasant, professional, and did an excellent job. I'd recommend Bay State Paving without hesitation.
