They were good. They came and did the job and I paid them. It was done well. It was going to come down anyway and we wanted to get it down before it chose a different path. They gave me a quote and came back the next day to take the tree down. We were happy with them and had no complaints. The price was okay and there was no dispute on it.

Tim uses no machinery, apart from a chain saw. He climbs up in a tree using only a rope and no spikes, and he therefore causes no compression of the lawn. My wife and I schlep the wood (to be discarded) to the street edge where Tim & helper load it into a chipper. The trunk of the large trees are cut into length for us to split later and we use that wood for firewood.

Tim is great. He's a nice guy who does good work. He arrived when he said he would, he works his tail off and does a great job. He's professional, competent and knows what he is doing. He also installed a 10' high retaining wall in our neighbors yard which looks awesome, so he's versatile too. Tim started and ended our job during crappy rainy weather.

Tim is professional and courteous. He showed up on time and did the work as requested. He does not use machinery that can compact your lawn; he does all the work by climbing up into the tree, securing the branch to be cut using ropes, doing the cut, and then carefully lowering the branch to the ground. In this manner, he cuts down a large tree with minimal impact on your lawn. It takes longer than the use of "Cherry pickers" but the impact is far less. He climbs up by tossing a small weight into the tree over a large branch, and uses that to pull a small line over the branch. The end of that small line is attached to a larger rope that is pulled up next. That is the rope that Tim will use to climb as high as necessary to make the cut. Any unwanted small branches are chipped up using a chipper in the street and then blown into a truck for removal. Bigger pine sections are carted away in another truck. The thick oak branches are cut into sections for later splitting and use in a fireplace. I do the splitting myself. I believe he would do that as well, as an added service, should you request.
