Paul and his crew did good work, but his electrical subcontractor (Anthony Caggiano from Littleton) was so messy that we didnt want to continue the job with him. Unfortunately, we had paid him in advance, and he STILL owes us $600. Bottom line - Paul is a good guy and a good worker, but he definitely should have chosen his subcontractors with more care. Proceed with caution.

Paul and his two sons were extremely professional. They returned phone calls in a timely manner, answered questions patiently, worked within budget and time expectations. I trusted them completely as they did the work and cleaned up afterwards. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

All work was done to the original schedule and cost estimate, with the exception of added cost to install the blown-in insulation, which was not expected (but the estimate for that was accurate). Paul and his sons arrived promptly every day, left voice mail summaries of work done each day if Paul did not see us personally, cleaned up after themselves at the end of every work day, and conducted themselves throughout the 4 weeks as true professionals who clearly cared that their work met our requirements. Paul spent 4 hours looking over our house very carefully before he wrote up the original estimate, which was based on costs from 3 different suppliers of relevant materials. The 4 weeks' worth of work went more smoothly than we could have imagined and we are thrilled with the results. (We've already had to turn the thermostat down, we're retaining so much more heat!) We are planning to use Paul's Home Repair to replace our old farmer's porch next spring, and over the next few years, replace the old wooden siding with new wooden siding and have them replace the roof.
Description of Work: My wife and I hired Paul and his 2 sons to do several pieces of work on our circa 1865 house. They were on the job for 4 weeks straight, every week day, which was the time originally estimated for all work to be done. The work included: replacement of 9 feet of water damaged wooden sill under one end of the house, which included residing that end with special attention to making it less prone to water damage; install insulation in all spaces in the cellar ceiling, which included working in a 4-foot high crawl space; install a pull-down attic stair assembly to provide access to the attic (where only an 18" x 18" hatch had been), add insulation in the attic, and install a plywood floor to make the attic into useable storage space; install reinforcement supports to one end of the first floor in the cellar; install a fire stop (for code compliance) over the oil burner in the cellar; replace 3 old cellar windows with Thermopane sliding cellar windows; replace old wooden door from cellar into attached garage with metal insulated security door; repair leak in upstairs bathroom, which required removal of tiles from one end of tub/shower enclosure, install new universal shower/bath control fixture and shower head, replace tile and re-grout entire tub/shower enclosure; put chimney cap on 1 active chimney, permanently seal 1 unused chimney; put new coat of roof sealant around bases of both chimneys; put blown-in insulation into one section of exterior wall (void discovered during work on sill, only unexpected piece of work that needed to be done).

Overall it went quite well. Before Paul correctly analyzed our problem, three roofing companies, two home inspectors, and two chimney repair companies looked at our roof. I heard all sorts of crazy ideas and theories. Ultimately, it was Paul Mucci who noticed that in addition to the ripped up flashing, there was a hole in the roof. Paul's men repaired the hole. My biggest concern was to seal up the space between the chimney and the house. Paul's sons not only did this, but they tarred the flashing to discourage future animal damage. Paul's crew did use two of my shovels as pry bars to remove the shingles. In general, the crew cleaned up every day but they did leave a significant amount of shingle debris on our foundation plantings. Also quite a lot of granular shingle debris fell into our attics. They promptly cleaned up the mess.
Description of Work: Paul Mucci and his sons replaced flashing on the chimney. We think it had been destroyed by a raccoon. They also sealed the space between the chimney and the side of the house. In addition, I contracted with him to reshingle the roof. This involved removing two layers of shingles on the house roof and on the roof of our two car garage. He made ridge vents for both roofs and installed a single chimney cap over the three flues.
