Working with Barbara and her team at Elza B Design has been a joy from beginning to end. We recently renovated and redecorated our twenty-year-old home. When we originally built, our children were in elementary school. Now they are all adults; we have a grandchild; and our house needs have changed as we enjoy frequent visits from our growing family. Barbara expertly helped me to execute the vision I had for the house. She did not impose any particular style upon us. Rather, she listened, looked closely at what we already had that we loved, and then collaboratively helped me to pull together a cohesive design that is reflective of our family’s tastes and personality. Barbara’s background in fine art was immensely helpful as we incorporated rich, saturated color throughout the house, balancing rooms with strong colors and vibrant wallpaper patterns with simple, understated spaces. Each room beautifully flows into the next. The Elza B team brought wonderful resources to the table, from furniture manufacturers, lighting sources, to wallpaper and fabric selections. Her team’s strong relationships with vendors helped us to get the project done beautifully, efficiently, and as cost effectively as possible. I wholeheartedly recommend Elza B Design to anyone who is contemplating a home renovation or design update project. Barbara, Dominique and Amy are creative, talented design professionals, who are all wonderful people to work with – joyful, fun, patient, and thoughtful. This was 2 hour onsite consult from her. Went better than hoped. We had a detailed phone call BEFORE the consult to go over expectations - and I sent her some photos to help her prepare. I have implemented some of her basic recommendations (at first I had thought one of her strong suggestions was not helpful but upon thinking about it - realized how right she was and how wrong I was!) I have her detailed notes on paint colors for the stairway --- I recall 5 paint colors. (Painting not yet done as it will happen after other major work is done.)

We chose Barbara and Elza B. Design because we felt her work reflected our eclectic style. With two working parents and two kids under four, we're busy and we needed help to tackle a decorating project that covered most of the house. Barbara created a cohesive plan, sought our input, and curated the choices so that the project was manageable for us. She not only listened closely but also made her own views known, and the final results are better for it! We're very pleased with the results and wouldn't have gotten here without Barbara.

Barbara was a joy to work with. We accomplished a TON in the two hour consultation we had with her. She was very attentive to our style and ideas, even having us complete homework ahead of time so she could come as ready to help as possible. She also knew how to bring out the best in our style. We were able to walk through the entire house and discuss layout and design, color schemes, furniture ideas, and more. She pointed out what was working, and what could be improved. We also picked out several possible paint colors for the whole house. We now have confidence to move forward with house projects we were unsure about before. And everything we've implemented so far has been even more fantastic than we imagined! Worth every penny. Thank you Barbara!

It went extremely well - totally valuable advice. It took no time for me to feel she understood my dilemmas, so we went right to work. Most of the time was on selecting colors for a somewhat complicated entry. She left me with a clear sketch to show exactly where each of the 5 colors would be used. While I haven't yet tried these colors they seem to be exactly what I think I need. We had enough time for me to receive comments in another space - and I've recently come to agree completely with her very strong recommendation on drapery colors in my living room. I had thought the color in use was a great choice so I did feel a bit defensive. With such a strong opinion on her part, while I have been a bit defensive about my previous choice, I did keep thinking about it. So grateful I did. I finally tried her suggestion (white) using some fabric - and wham! turns out she is so right. I now can't wait to replace them.

It went great. Elza was conscientious about looking at colors during the day light and discussing how colors change with daylight vs the evening. She was also very accommodating in meeting my schedule to get the work done before the holiday.

Barbara was attentive to our tastes, our functional needs, and our budget. She was knowledgeable, professional, and a joy to work with. She worked well with our contractor and both were diligent in promptly addressing the inevitable snafus that arise in any project.
Barbara suggested designs and finishes that are stylish (recycled glass tiles installed vertically on the accent wall of the shower in the master) and timeless (painted wood vanity with shaker doors in the guest bath). We particularly appreciated her solutions for incorporating the laundry facilities into the guest bath. Thanks to Barbara, we now have beautiful and functional and add to the value of our home.

I highly recommend Barbara. She is personable and easy to work with. She asked me questions first so she could get a sense of my style and my budget. I got tremendous value out of 2 hours of consultation. I peppered her nonstop with questions about color, window treatments, and room configuration. She picked out really nice paint colors for many of my rooms and made window treatment suggestions. For my future bathroom renovation, I thought I only wanted her input for tile ideas but she looked at the whole space and suggested I might want to consider a slightly different layout. She then quickly sketched out 3 alternatives that she thought would be a better use of space for the family and more attractive. Her ideas made a lot of sense.

Barbara was a great help in getting two rooms furnished. My wife and I had never worked with a designer before and had little understanding of the work that each room was going to take. Barbara came up with a plan and offered a variety of options based on our initial consultation. We had a number of meetings and finally settled on a design. Barbra sourced almost all the items we purchased and the rooms turned out great. She also had to deal with very challenging vendors who were not always as reliable as we would have liked. She secured us a number of additional discounts and rebates on our behalf. We will most likely be using her again for a number of other rooms we still need to decorate.

I was nearing the end of my pregnancy and needed help turning a small pink nursery into a room that could be shared by a girl and a new baby boy. I also had a master bedroom that was in need of a new color scheme and updated accessories. I knew it was a small project and was hoping I'd be able to find someone willing to take on the job. I met with several designers and after meeting with Barbara of Elza B. Design, I knew that she would be great to work with. I loved her approach and thought that she did a great job of understanding me and what I needed. All of the color palettes she presented for the rooms were beautiful and her suggestions for accessories was very helpful. I was on a budget so I took all of Barbara's ideas and advice and went shopping for the pieces that would finish off the rooms. Barbara helped me pick out the new window treatments for the bedrooms and coordinated the install. I am in love with the new rooms and have received a lot of compliments from friends. I would recommend Barbara to anyone looking for decorating and design help and I would definitely hire Barbara again for future projects.

When I hired Barbara, I gave her a tough task. I was on a tight budget, and I wanted her to come up with a look that was appealing and functional, and would work well with some of my existing furnishings, fabrics, and decorative items. Barbara listened carefully to my ideas and then came back with drawings and fabric swatches. I loved the fabrics she picked out. She has an absolutely brilliant sense of color. (She is also a painter!) She also is very skilled at decorating on a budget, and was able to suggest a few key changes to make to the room that would pull the colors and overall look together. She suggested that one way to keep costs down was to have me do some of the legwork in looking for furnishings, lighting, etc., so she gave me a general idea of what would work in a particular space and then suggested web links and catalogs that she thought would be most helpful. I hired her to create 7 throw pillows for my sofa, and 5 for my bed. They came out beautifully and make a real difference in my room. In addition, I've taken many of her other suggestions (including refinishing some bedside tables, and buying some new wicker boxes). I am very satisfied with what Barbara accomplished as a decorator. She is very talented at listening to her clients' needs and visions, and working within their budgets. I highly recommend her.
