The crew worked hard every day they were at our home. It's difficult for an ordinary homeowner to judge the quality of a roof repair, but the roof leaks have now stopped. The materials they used seemed to be high-quality. The crew was communicative and easy to interact with (e.g., when we were discussing how they could get into the interior of our house when we were away, how they would handle unexpected things that arose during the job, etc.). Talking with Brendan Driscoll before the start of the job, it seemed to me that he took the job quite seriously (he had a structural engineer do an evaluation up front) and was thinking hard about the unusual challenges of this particular job (our roof is quite weird). I did get the sense that this is a company with lots of expertise. Consistent with this, the company was recommended by our neighbor (a retired architect) who had hired them in the past for work on his own home. I would definitely hire them again.

Driscoll Contracting did an amazing job.  You always hear stories about choosing the right contractor or else you might be in for the long ride.  Well let me tell you, Driscoll did not disappoint and were definitely the right contractors.    We had an unfortunate incident where part of a tree fell on our home and caused extensive damages to the roof and gutter.  We had a hole on the roof with structural damages that required someone with a very good understanding on how to proceed with repairs.

They are very responsive and came right out to take a look and walk us through the entire process.  An estimate for the repairs was provided the very next day.  We shopped around and their estimate was very competitive and reasonable.  Although they were very busy , they managed to squeeze us in their busy schedule and start repairs.

Driscoll Contracting knows what they are doing as they completed the repairs in a couple of days.  They worked diligently and efficiently.  The team that showed up were very professional and friendly.  They also cleaned up the entire area before they left.  Let me tell you, the work they did looks amazing.  It looks like the tree accident never happened.  You can't even tell.  Everything looks great.  We are extremely satisfied with the work Driscoll did for us and would absolutely hire them again for future projects.  Not only did they meet our expectations, but exceeded them.  Thank you Driscoll Contracting for a job well done!

It went phenomenally well. They returned our call immediately agreed to come out and repaired our leak within 24 hours in the dead of winter. I would strongly recommend them to anyone. Excellent company.

We have been working with Driscoll Contracting for the past few years on several projects in our house, including work on our roof and porch. Most recently, Brendan and his crew did a complete remodel of our unfinished basement, which involved adding several rooms and a full bath. We could not be happier with the outcome. Family and friends have been extremely impressed with the space, and we have already enjoyed using it ourselves on a daily basis. Brendan is honest, on time and on budget, which are
qualities that have been lacking in contractors we have worked with in the past. Brendan's team is professional and detail-oriented, and we wholeheartedly recommend Driscoll Contracting for any project.

Mr. Driscoll was willing to squeeze my small job in among his big jobs at a time when it was hard to find any contractor that wasn't maxed out. He came promptly for the estimate. The work was done on schedule and with excellent workmanship. You can't tell that the roof was patched. The gutters now work flawlessly even in heavy rain.
I am willing to pay extra to get quality work - some contractors just don't have it in them to do good work. Driscoll is definitely a high quality contractor. Nevertheless, the price was on the high side. He originally said two men for a day. I expected a quote of about $1200. The actual quote was $1,750. When I challenged him on the price, he justified it by saying it would take 3 men and require staging. The actual work was done without staging by 2 men in less than a full day.

We were having leaking into our condo from an ice dam located 4 stories up, in a difficult to reach place on the slate roof of a 120 year old, 4 unit  condo. Brendan responded that same day and removed it, saving us from further damage. We have had multiple leaks (the old roof is in bad shape), and each time he has responded in a pinch and bailed us out. He is responsive, courteous, and professional. His work is impeccable. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled contractor.

Both jobs went very well, on time and the team was great. There were one or two issues, as there always are, but they were quickly and professionally handled by Brendan and Cheri with fair and equitable outcomes that I was happy with.
I am mainly writing this review now because of the new shingle roof job that Driscoll did in December 2012.  In previous bad snow winters we had ice dams and leaks in our roof, particularly on a shed roof that was over a partial second story addition. In talking to Brendan about the issue we decided to cover that roof completely with ice and water shield and use 6 feet of ice and water shield on the rest of the roof. In this bad snowy winter we just had while many neighbors had ice dams and leaks, we did have ice dams but we did not have any leaks - a GREAT roofing job by Driscoll!
I would definitely use Driscoll again.

Went wonderfully. Excellent communication before, during, and after work performed. Spotless job on the skylight and flashing. Have used again more recently for professional, prompt estimates that were competitive and complete. Hoping to use again in the near future!

Brendan and Cheri were willing to negotiate and offered the most competitive price. Brendan and his team had to remove one to two layers of old asphault roof before they installed architect shingles on the main house and detached garage. The team took great care during the roof tear-down and installation. The crew cleaned up the mess each night and neatly stacked their ladders and supplies. The total job took two weeks, the majority spent on the roof. We also engaged Brendan to replace the rotten cedar gutters on the main house. Overall Brendan replaced the gutters that were clearly rotten and left the existing aluminum ones in tack.
We will consider Brendan for future contracting work. One note of advice, make sure you get a very detailed statement of work - get everything in writing and don't rely on verbal side discussions as some of the gutter work was disputed but I had no leg to stand on in the end.

Overall very impressed with Brendan and his team.

It was very positive. It was excellent, real good. They're very professional, timely, neat, and they cleaned up after they were done. I find the price pretty reasonable. I only had one other quote to compare it to. I would imagine if you get enough prices, you always get someone to give you a low ball price. They were great. They communicate with me via email, very professionally, and indicated when they would come and that's when they came. There's probably some other things around that I'll eventually have them do. When I say professionalism, this is a business and they came over and they had two and sometimes three trucks with a crew of people. It wasn't like a guy out of the back seat of his car. It's a professional business, equipment, etc. The way I got a hold of Driscoll, by the way, was strictly through a reference that I got from a close friend of mine who did use them for some other work. Therefore, to me, having a good friend recommending a contractor was the way to go. That's why I was not particularly concerned about getting a million different quotes. I figured they'd be fair with me and they were.

They did an excellent job. Their price was higher than some other quotes I received, but I think they did more than other roofers proposed. I had some roofers tell me that it didn't matter if I have standing water on my flat roof. Well, my problem was I got a leak at the seam, and the seam was sitting in standing water. The first thing Brendan Driscoll said was, "we'll angle the roof slightly so water will run off the back into your gutter. You don't want to have standing water." That made total sense to me. He also took the time to explain insulating material they use under the rubber. --I learned this is an area where some roofers use cheap product, so be sure to ask about this! My old roof had fiber board underneath it, which I learned from 3 roofers is basically cardboard, and soaks up water like a sponge. (I did have one roofer tell me that's what they use, and his bid was one of the highest I got.)
I prefer to pay a little more for quality work, and I believe this is what I got. Everyone I dealt with at Driscoll Contracting was professional and they did what they said they were going to do. I got a written quote the same day I saw Brendan, and they started the job when they said and finished promptly.
I will definitely consider using them again for future projects.

There has been no issue with the repairs made to our home.
Driscoll has been helpful in fixing the issues but also with helping map out a plan to ward off future issues.  I would use them again.

We've used Driscoll for several big jobs on our old house in Cambridge-
repointing the exterior brick face on one side of our house and
removing/replacing old/decaying wood on our facade, as well as a number
of smaller jobs.  Their work has always been high quality, efficient,
and reasonably priced.  They are very easy to work with and responsive
to specific needs.  The workers are always polite and respectful.
Most recently, the high winds from the hurricane in
November blew the door off our roof access.  I called them to replace
the door, and they were able to repair it for much less cost.  They also
saved us from extremely heavy snow on our flat roof a couple years ago,
removing all the snow before an imminent storm of wet heavy
precipitation hit.  They fit the job in despite their very busy schedule
when they could have easily turned us down.  I'd definitely use them
again and recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor.

Our house is a 2000 sq. ft. Dutch Colonial, built 1922.  The roof, last done in 1996, needed replacement due to ice-dam water leaks on the north side and shingles that were beginning to break off in high wind.  The two chimneys needed re-pointing and, after a raccoon entry, caps.  The one-car garage needed a new roof.
I asked Brendan Driscoll (who I found on Angie's List) for an estimate because he is local and he had kindly advised me in 2011 about the effectiveness of my ridge vent.  He also did a small emergency  job in spring 2012 replacing  broken shingles.  The estimate for the present job was in line with one I got in 2011 from a well-recommended out-of-town roofer.  Because Brendan seemed knowledgeable, interested in doing a quality job, was local, and as a general contractor could handle both the roofing and the chimney work, I picked him.
The job went smoothly (in the hottest part of the summer).  Brendan was on site at least half the day, with the rest of the  work being done by his excellent foreman Paul and from one to three other men.  Brendan discovered right away that there was no tar paper between the shingles and the roof boards, so he extended the ice shield at no additional cost to cover the entire roof (instead of the estimate's six feet).  He also found that the existing ice shield had not been properly mated to the drip edge and installed the new shield and drip edge correctly. The best quality GAF 30-year architectural shingles were used, with rubber roofs on two small flat roof extensions.
The crew started and finished on time each day (job took six days), and cleanup was thorough.  Tools and supplies were kept neatly in the garage.
Brendan is a good manager and seems to have a good relation with the men.  He is a positive and enthusiastic person who wants to do the job right and likes to solve problems.  I enjoyed working with Brendan and hope to have his services again in the future.   Also, I should mention Brendan's wife Cheri who manages the company office and is very responsive and communicative.

Brendan and his team did a fanastic job, we had a leak coming through our kitchen slider and some other areas above bay windows and the membrane roof needing patching.  They completed most of the work in one day and needed to return to complete one small area.  They were professional and courteous, they protected the deck and driveway and left the area where they were working spotless.  Good price, good work and good people...hopefully I will be using this company again for some unexpected work - once we submit the bids to the insurance company.
