I WILL NEVER HAVE TO DO ANYTHING HE HIS NOT HONEST
My daughters home and her story: We recently had our heating system completely replaced. Went from an oil fired steam furnace and radiators to a gas fired forced hot air system. We added in central air on top of it all. This was a big job and we highly recommend Goulette and Sons.
We did a lot of research on local companies and decided to get quotes from 6 different ones. Goulette and Sons came in lower than the rest. Just like anyone we were a little leery because cheaper isn?t always the best, but we searched around and found no negative information about them, we talked in length to the owner a couple of times at hour home (who has 40+ years of hands on experience in this business) and we decided to give it a go. They were fantastic! They walked the house multiple times, took measurements, spent ample time back at their business working through all the figures, fabricated all the duct work and started the job. It took less than 2 weeks to replace all our old steam radiators, cut all new holes in our floors, add heat to a second floor (that didn?t have heat before), as well as a basement room (that didn?t have heat before), install a new furnace, install an AC unit, remove the old furnace and remove our oil tank.
It?s a small business, but chock full of knowledge. Obviously with a small mom and pop type business that?s been around for a million years you get some headstrong attitude too, but that?s to be expected. I don?t want someone nodding and agreeing with me just to get my business. I want someone like Goulette that?s going to tell me when I?m wrong or have been misinformed. That?s something you don?t get from your local Home Depot sub contracting companies (who we also had quote us and didn?t know squat).
The young gentleman that installed all the duct work for Goulette worked quietly and was extremely neat. He was very courteous (if my phone rang he stopped any equipment he had going so I could answer the call), he never left without cleaning up after himself. It was as if he wasn?t even there. Excellent workmanship as well. We discovered one noisy area in the ductwork, he came back right away and fixed it all up. The heating system runs spectacular.
The ONLY negative we have with Goulette and Sons is they subcontract out removal of your furnace and oil tank to other businesses (to save them a few buck) and these guys are a disaster! If you need this stuff removed I HIGHLY recommend you cover everything with plastic ? walls, stairs, etc. Anywhere they will be. I had to replace my cellar stair carpeting, fix a broken stair, and repaint and spackle an entire wall. They are literally like bulls in a china shop. We informed Goulette about this, so they may or may not use them going forward, but trying to give anyone else a heads up in case. Cover everything or remove these things yourself.
