JB Sash was recommended to me by a neighbor. They quickly came to the house to provide me with an estimate and provided brochures and info about the Andersen materials they recommended. The quote was higher than I had gotten with other contractors, but I believe this reflects the higher-end materials. They could not schedule the work for at least 3 months given their backlog. When we did have a date, Cheryl in the office was very responsive and helpful via email and phone. The 2 men who came to do the work were on time, efficient, and cleaned up nicely. My one complaint was that the workers applied the inside window trim with a seam right in the middle. It seemed very obvious to me. I contacted Cheryl and sent her a picture and they re-did the trim. If it weren't for that, I would give them an A for professionalism.

JB Sash came out a couple of different times to provide us quotes. We went to the show room, picked a door, they came on time and did a great job. We even were a little bummed that the lockset was 1° off (top and bottom are squares, so it was obvious even though it was very slight). They came out and fixed it no problem.

My review is based on the total experience. The responsiveness rating really should be "F" and then "A" because I had 2 very different customer service experiences. Salesperson 1 Jan 24: initial phone call, talk with salesperson Jan 25: email salesperson follow up information (no reply) Feb 5: email salesperson to ask for any updates (no reply) Feb 22: email salesperson and ask if I should look elsewhere Feb 26: salesperson emails back We go back and forth via email for a while in March. On April 2nd I emailed with a question and never heard back. I called and left messages at least twice for this person and never got a call back. At this point I almost gave up and was going to call another company. Salesperson 2: However in late April I went to JB Sash in Chelsea, in person, and waited in the showroom to talk with someone. Joe Adams was very helpful in showing me some options and asking questions to better understand what I needed. Joe was also great in following up via email and made the process much easier. This review only reflects the ordering of a door and window, the installation was done by a contractor I hired.

"Thank you for your kind words! We appreciate the feedback, as this is the best tool for us to improve our business overall. We do sincerely apologize for any communication inconveniences and will look into this. It was a pleasure working with you and we do hope to work with you again on future projects."

It took me 2 years to interview every single window people in the entire world and the only ones I would ever use is JB Sash and Door.? I would recommend them to anybody.? They are in the middle line.? I would give these guys right in the middle as far as cost goes, so 30 windows was $16,000.? I didn't do the basement or the attic. I might do them next year.? They finished up about 2 weeks ago.? It took me 2 years to finally decide to do this.? I kept them waiting and waiting and waiting.? These guys, except for the real expensive guys, these were the only ones who came over, measured, left, went home and sent me in the mail a complete list of exactly what they were going to do and how much it was going to cost.? So they did it the right way.? The cost was exactly what they said it was going to be.? They came over again, they remeasured.? The reason it has taken so long is I had to finally suck it up and try to? get all the tchotchkes away from the windows because this house has been lived in by my family for 68 or 69 years so you know there is a lot of crap by the windows. So I had to get rid of all the crap. We got everything removed.? The person that came over, it took them 3 days. They were really quiet.? They were professional. I can't tell you enough how wonderful they were.? They cleaned up after themselves. They came on time. If anybody wants to have windows replaced, and they can afford a middle price there, I would definitely recommend them. Definitely, definitely!? A, A, A, A, A!? I'm definitely going to use them again.? I only have one negative thing to say about them and I don't know if that is because I don't understand something or because they just didn't want to do it and therefore they made the price high. I didn't negotiate with them.? I just called them about a week ago and said I have a storm door going out to the porch and I would like it would be fixed so that it opens inwardly, not outwardly because when it opens outwardly even when there is like 3 inches of snow there you can't open the door.? Basically, if it starts to really, really snow there is no way to clean the porch but they said it would cost $550 to do.? So I don't know if that would what it would really cost.

Sales rep Gary came by as scheduled to measure and assess for quote. I appreciated the fact that he didn't try to upsell me on anything, and when I asked him if he thought a patio door should be replaced, he said "don't waste your money- yours is perfectly fine". The quote came promptly. Pricing was slightly higher than competitors but my condo association chose this supplier. Their business manager, Cheryl was efficient and helpful. Everything as presented in quote was delivered. Installation was quick and the installers cleaned everything leaving things cleaner than when they arrived. I would definitely use JB Sash again. The windows are beautiful and have transformed my condo!

Our work was actually done at three separate times over several months. In every case, JB Sash did a superb job. They were on time, courteous, considerate, professional and did excellent work. Their price wasn't cheap but it was definitely less than we had expected, especially for such high-qulaity work. Our only problem was with Andersen Windows whom JB Sash contracted with for our sliders (Sash does not make these so they had to subcontract). It was our second time dealing with Andersen and, like the first, they were awful. Just awful. Had we realized we would be working with them, we'd have insisted on another supplier. However, regarding JB Sash, they handled the problems with Andersen and today we have a beautiful, energy-efficient set of sliders in our living room. I would not hesitate to recommend Sash. In fact, we may well be calling them for a door project in the future. I would just warn against having products provided by Andersen (which is not usually the case for Sash's specialties of windows and doors), insist on a different supplier.

The storm doors were being installed as part of an exterior renovation.  The custom size door order was fine.  Due to the work being done the width of the "standard" size door ended up being too large and the order was changed (prior to the door arriving at JB Sash) to the next "standard" width smaller.  Two weeks after the order was changed we called to get an update on the arrival date of both doors.  Apparently the original "standard" size door order was cancelled, but the salesperson never placed the order for the smaller size door.  So delivery was at least two weeks later than it needed to be.  In addition the smaller door was cheaper than the original size door we ordered, but we never received a credit for the price difference, or any explanation as to why we weren't getting a credit.
It seems that doing right by their retail customers is not a priority to this company.  All in all I would NEVER do business again with JB Sash.

I searched for three months to find anyone to build me this window sash from scratch: carpenters, window companies, and other woodworkers. In the end, JB Sash was the only company we found that could handle this unusual job. They accepted the original (smashed) window sash as a model and built an exact replica, including the diamond, full-divided-light grill.

Five weeks later, the window was ready, and it looked virtually perfect.  JB Sash does not stain, paint, or install windows, so we had our regular contractor do it.  The window looks great and is not detectable as a reproduction unless you look closely.

The price was very expensive ($2000 for one window sash), but the alternative was replacing eight casement windows for $10,000+ or more that might not match rest of the interior trim in the house. (In fact, two window companies refused to do the 8-window job because they could not guarantee a match.)

It was easy to work with JB Sash. The salesperson, Tim Gorman, was very responsive by email and provided quotes within hours. The only downside was driving 45 minutes to Chelsea in traffic to drop off and pick up the sash.

We placed our order through our contractor after a very pleasant visit to JB Sash's showroom.  We were very happy with the quality of the windows and doors when they were finally delivered, and most of them where delivered in a timely fashion. However, several of the doors ordered were initially either made incorrectly by the manufacturer.  Then JB Sash reordered those doors at no additional direct cost to us, but the replacement order was placed incorrectly by JB Sash.  The doors had to be order a 3rd time and each order takes 8-12 weeks.  In my opinion the mistake by the staff at JB Sash increased the length of our construction project by over a month and resulted in about 80 extra billable carpentry and painter hours at a cost to us of $3000 to $5000. In addition, JB Sash raised the prices on our order by about 10% without notice.  Contractually, they were passing on their supplier's price increases, but the salesperson did nothing to advise us about the potential for price increases, which everyone I've spoken with indicates is common practice, so that we could place the order two weeks earlier to save another $3000.

I had a very favorable experience with JB Sash and its contractor installation team. 1. purchase: I bought 7 Marvin Wood Ultrex casement windows from JB Sash. The sales person is Jim C and he is the most responsive sales person I have ever interacted. He has been with the company for decades and is very responsive. I called him once on a weekend day and he picked it up right away. In addition to being responsive, he is also meticulous. He visited my place twice to measure the window rough opennings and the last time with his head contractor, Bob, to make sure the measurements are correct. 2. Installation: My new windows do not fit in my old rough opennings cleanly. So these opennings need to be reframed for the new windows. Before hiring JB Sash to do the installation, I tried to hire contractors directly using Angie's list. The experience was a disaster. Two contractors did not follow up; One came to give an estimate and did not realize the window frames needs to be built because he did not even take out his tape measure to do some measuring. After a few weeks' of futile search, I chucked that plan and give the job to JB Sash. Bob and his team of four did the job. They are very diligent and hardworking. The job lasted two days and I am a remodeling novice but I can feel they did a very solid job. I cannot vouch for other JB contractors, but the team of Bob is a good choice. 3. Price: I think JB Sash's window price is competive, and its labor is not. But I think the price is reasonable. I paid for $5.3k for 7 windows including two double casement windows. And the rest 7k for labor. The labor includes 6 reframing and 1 rebuilding frame. The payment was made to JB Sash.

They were very helpful. The only problem was that I did not understand what they meant by half screen and full screen. They put a half screen in there and I would have wanted a full screen. The estimator was very helpful. The crew was very efficient and polite. It was great service and I got treated well.

EVERYTHING WAS FINE/EXCELLENT EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT WE HAD A FEW WINDOWS IN THE KITCHEN THAT THEY MEASURED WRONG, SO WHEN THE WINDOWS CAME, THEY HAD THE WRONG SIZED-WINDOWS AND HAD ALREADY THROWN OUT THE OLD ONES. SO WE ARE SITTING WITH PLASTIC AND PLYWOOD FOR 3 WEEKS SO THEY CAN REORDER THEM (SO MAKE SURE THEY MEASURE ODD SHAPED WINDOWS WELL BEFORE THEY LEAVE! ). THEY DID NOT PROVIDE US WITH ANY SORT OF FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT FOR THEIR MISTAKE.
