Ed was recommended by my sister and brother in law. Ed started off great. He was very responsive to phone calls, and showed up when he said he would. We did have some communication issues at the beginning- first we thought he was going to install the floors at an hourly rate, then he said he would match a previous bid to install we received, but do more work than the original bid included. He also brought an additional carpenter, when we had discussed having my husband be his helper. Red flags, I know. He installed the floors beautifully, but did not finish the install. He didn't add quarter rounds at perimeter, trim and reinstall the doors, and add thresholds. We have a sliding door at the bathroom, and he actually installed the wood floor right under the pocket door, so we aren't able to slide open the door without gauging the new floor. In the bedroom he was working on, he left and didn't finish the room either. He still needed to add the final coat of mud, sand and add wall base, and install crown molding. We also had many other projects he was going to work on at our house, smaller projects to complete over time. He is not welcome back to our house. He scheduled a date with my husband to come back and do work, but he never showed up. Since that time he hasn't returned phone calls or emails, nor has he come back to complete any of the tasks he had still to finish. Our advice is to use Ed if you don't care if the job gets done. Or if you do care about the job getting completed, use him but hold a high percentage of the estimated cost until after the job is complete.
Description of Work: Install and sand (owners to finish) wide plank pine floors in three bedrooms and halls. In 1 bedroom - add beadboard ceiling, remove wood panelling and add drywall and leave it prepped for painting. (We purchased the flooring and bead-board separately.) (The category should not be "Landscaping" but AL won't let me correct it.)
