Milltown Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical - HVAC

Young man who came to do the job told us that they sent him to 3 wrong houses before they found ours. He proceeded to unclog the drain in the basement using the mechanical drain. Took him maybe an hour to clear it and also ran our sinks and toilets to make sure we wouldn?t have another problem. The young man left our house, however proceeded to sit in his running van, parked in my parking spot. I had no issues with this service until I saw the bill. $1000 to snake a drain for an hour? When we inquired about the bill they told us that their rate is 300$ an hour and that the job took 3 hours. In my opinion, if it takes you 3 hours to snake a drain, then someone should be fired or retrained at their job. My assumption is that their scheme involved sending this young man to multiple wrong houses and him sitting in my driveway for a prolong period of time, so that they could charge us for 3 hours of ?work.?

I used to like them. Use them for my big install of backup basement sump pump. This time, I was out of the country, my rental property in MA needs a toilet fix. It was a standard water tank leak and we need to replace the inside mechanism. Milltown came and said 'rebulid the toilet', my wife authorize them to do it as I was not reachable at the time their plumber was at the rental property. They were in and out according to my tenant for at most 45 min, rebuilding two toilet tank and fixed the leak. The bill came to be 1200, $600 a toilet. One line item on the receipt is $470 for the kit they use to replace the plastic mechanism inside the water tank. I casually google the kit, I can get a universal sup kit for the toilet to replace that for $20. I called them, manager came on gave me that talk - we did hundreds of toilet leak and we average all of them to come up with the cost for that line item, which includes (a) parts (b) labor (c) our service guarantee for a prompt and reliable service Say they charge $200 /hr labor, 1 hr for two toilet is $100 labor for 1 toilet (remember, the plumber was there like 30-45 min rebuilding the two toilet). Say total parts are $100 (with markup), we are talking about $200 for fixing the leak of 1 toilet. They charged almost $600 for one toilet. You can do that math. I expect some up charge, but I am not paying $300 just for getting prompt reliable service. I turned around and asked for a few reliable plumber quote from Thumbstack with great reviews, most can do the job for $200 labor and I can get them the universal kit they will be able to come on the same day. So maybe if you want Milltown to do bigger job, that is ok. For smaller job, it does not worth it. Replacing the toilet flush mechanism is really not rocket science in plumbing. If I am not thousands of miles away, I would have done it myself after watching some Youtube video. I am willing to pay up charge for the service, but this is really above and beyond the normal up charge range, $1200 for a 30 min job replacing the toilet flushing mechanism in the water tank!!

STAY AWAY. Numerous issues and they will cost you more money without you knowing it. I just found out that I was on a **DO NOT SERVICE** list (after all the grief they have given me.) I am ticked off. Here is a summary due to the character limit: 1. They installed a faulty HTP tankless hybrid water heater. I argued with them for what I think was a good year before a HTP tech finally determined that I was right. Replaced it with a Rinnai RUR199in. 2. They took (stole) my oval ductwork and replaced it. I was fine with the replacement. I looked the other way but it was expensive and they never asked - they just hauled it away. Most homeowners probably do not realize how expensive and unusual that oval ductwork is. I could have even recycled it at a profit. 3. I recommended them to a neighbor only to find cops all over their home one day. Their plumber stole their special needs kids controlled medications after having them go into other rooms to turn on and off the faucets. I just chalked it up to a bad apple. 4. HUGE ROOKIE mistake. They short-cycled the new air handler. Vent was right next to the main return (2in. away.) Unecessary wear and tear, high electric and gas usage, and discomfort. Whatever was coming out was immediately suck back in. Unfortunately I did not realize this until a couple years later. 5. HUGE ROOKIE mistake. They never installed the 2-stage wiring. See directly above. Look it up. HUGE discrepancies in temperatures and sky high bills. Premature wear and tear. I wrote Freddy Jr. about this which might be the reason why I am on their list. But still, that is their job to get it right and not mine. Most people would have no clue for the life of their system. 6. They did not hook up the high-limit kill switch/float on the condensation pump which led to a flood and destroyed antiques. I hooked it up in less than 10 minutes. 7. I was told one day that the original manger was fired because he was skimming clients from the company. 8. There is no check valve on the recirculation line which they installed on the new tankless they replaced. I believe it is code and now I have to hire someone else ([business name removed]) to fix their screwup which likely killed my internal recirculation pump. Again, unecessary wear and tear along with high energy bills. I was willing to look the other way on so many things but the truth is they get away with this because most homeowners do not know any better. In other cases, I figured that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. But then to find out that I was blacklisted a few years later because I called them out on their BS after I needed their help yesterday? The only thing I can think is that I ended up costing them more money on things they should have done properly in the first place. It is a company that needs better oversight and apparently has awful management. I am not bragging but I have an advanced engineeering background creating petroleum engineering training material for big oil (aka plumbing on steroids--makes this look like childs play), programming, developing systems for hydroponics, working with heat and waste recovery systems, fixing combustion engines, and building computers for over 20 years. My point is that I noticed a lot of things that most people would overlook because I know how many things work. I called them out and that is the only explanation as to why I could have been blacklisted. But do yourself a favor and go with [business name removed] or [business name removed] instead. It is not to say that others cannot screw up, but this is my experience with them and the straw that broke the camels back. Mention that you read this here and thank you. Perhaps the next company will not mess you up under the guise/protection of teamsters and protectionist unions that overcharge with ridiculous licensing requirements that ends up meani...

Hello Everyone! I'd like to give Milltown a shout out for installing our new HTP Combo unit. I'd like to especially thank Garret, Brandon, and Kat for pulling the whole thing together and making the installation as seamless as possible. Also, shout out to HTP for replacing a defective unit. They stood up and did the right thing when they didn't have to. Milltown went above and beyond what a plumbing company would typically do. When our combo unit failed, we lost heat and hot water. Milltown was able to hook up a temporary hot water tank so my family had access to heated water for showering, dishes, etc. Everyone I spoke to were genuinely concerned and could not have been more professional in their workmanship, cleanliness, and finished product. I am very pleased with everything from start to finish.

On a routine inspection Milltown found that I had water coming into my breaker box from outside the house. They gave me several options and I decided to upgrade my box in addition to sealing the area from further water damage. They were very professional and the project looks tidy. They addressed extra issues they found during the upgrade and straightened out all the wires. I would use them for future projects.

Milltown was able to come out on the same day and fix my issue. The technician, Michael, was awesome and extremely knowledgeable. I would definitely use them again.

The work done was professional and well performed. Their final cost for the job was a ballpark figure with little breakdown of the individual cost of parts, per hour labor charge, etc were never really given despite my asking at the beginning of the project. My attempt to get a finance package put together to pay for the work incrementally did not go well -- it was attempted online and ended up having problems which I never got a true reason for the issue(s). The only reason I was actually given was that my overall cost was less than $1000 and that seemed to be a problem for their finance system. I ended up paying by credit card in full prior to the work being done.

All work was done at once with high quality and was done at once. All work sites were cleaned up. I would ask for Ram by name if I hired Mill Town again. Than you Ram. Mill Town representatives immediately contacted me after I posted the job and i was scheduled within 3 days to do the work. The cost seemed to be a little on the high side but was worth anything extra given their timeliness and quality of work done. I would absolutely hire them again and would recommend them again without reservation.
