Of course, I had scheduled a service for the GP6500 after cleaning out the garage and finding I could not start the unit. It was scheduled for repair today, and last night we lost power. A lot of other people lost power too, but EPG-NE kept the service appointment and were up front with their labor rates and fees. The technician was able to repair the unit on site. I'm very glad to have found EPG-NE through Angie's List and I will definitely call them first when I have a generator problem or want an upgrade in the future. Their communication with me through Angie's List messaging was top notch.

Very well. I called Kris, the owner, on July 4th to explain our generator wasn't working. Kris stopped out the same day, serviced the generator in advance of the Hurricane Arthur, and did a great job. Kris said when it gets really humid, sometimes the sensor in the motor just needs to be adjusted. His prices are very reasonable and he doesn't try to sell us something we don't need. He actually previously installed this generator for us at a great price. We highly recommend him to others.

The crew arrived around 9AM. Kris, the owner, and Pat removed the old 100A service
cable, meter box, and circuit breaker panel and installed the GenReady panel
and a separate junction box to transfer circuits to the new panel. Evan and
Craig installed the generator on a GenPad composite base and installed wiring from
the house to the generator which involved removing pavers
from a walkway and digging trenches for the electric
and gas pipes. The house was back on street power the first day (Wednesday)
after a long day of work by electrician Pat spanning 9AM to 7PM transferring
the house circuits. He even covered the floor with a tarp in the work area and left it spotless.
The electrical inspector signed off the electrical work later
that afternoon. John, a plumbing contractor for EPG-NE, installed the gas pipe
from the meter to the generator on Thursday. The plumbing inspector approved
the work the same day. The generator was then started without a hitch and Evan
demonstrated the features. Friday, Craig came and back filled the trenches.
After the Memorial day holiday, Evan installed the Mobil Link unit on Tuesday.
Wednesday, Evan and Craig arrived in the rain to reinstall the pavers, grade the soil,
and clean up. National Grid upgraded the street cable to 200A about a week later.
The required gas meter upgrade will be done by National Grid when notified
of an installation date (approximately three weeks ). The entire EPG-NE organization
was fantastic from the office staff to the installation crew and it was a joy
to work with them. Communication and response was top notch via email and phone.
The free 5 years parts and labor warranty and free Mobil Link monitor provided by a Generac
current sales promotion was a great extra bonus, a $774 value. EPG-NE also offers a free first
8 hour oil change.

Everything about this company is a model for all other service providers. The owner arrived on time for the scheduled appointment to review my requirements. He sent a quote via email a few days later. We went back and forth via email (my preferred method) with options. I accepted the final revised quote. He gave me a date about a month from my sending in the deposit which was fine with me. With all the variables with the weather, I was amazed that 2 days before the scheduled installation date his office called me to be sure I would be home on that date. The installation went without a hitch except that they left a bit of a mess in my basement where they removed the sheet rock. I let the office know, and they promised to clean up when they came the following week for the city inspection. A week later, a different person came to meet with the city inspector, clean up the debris, and explain the operation to me. It has been a month, and of course, we have had no power failures, so I don't know if the system really works. On the other hand, it does automatically run for a short time once/week as promised.

Whole process went smoothly. They were on time for each appointment, professional, and thorough. Generator is working great.
They installed a generator in the front yard, ran the electical and gas to the side of the house, attached the generator to my breaker box and showed me how to use it.

We met with Mr. Coleman and pointed out the shiny new alarm system panel and pointed out two old, rusty inactive ones. We opened the new one up and showed him the new battery which had been losing charge every time the power went out. There was no mistaking which panel was the new, active one. We indicated that he could move either of the two inactive ones but the active one had to remain in place. He didn't bother labeling anything. Rather, he took iPad photo's of the configuration. When EPG's installation team started the work shortly afterwards, the company's electrician called Mr. Coleman who was not on site. The electrician was confused about which panel was inactive and could be moved. Over the phone, Mr. Coleman verbally confirmed the wrong (active) panel for removal. We learned of this exchange directly from the Electrician the next day, when he returned to the house to determine why the alarm system had died. The EPG electrician apologized to us, saying he felt bad because he had a feeling he was removing the wrong, active panel. However, he had been given clear verbal direction by Kris Coleman to proceed. We then had to independently hire the alarm company and pay $1,200 for repair work. As negligent as it was, we were not particularly upset by the mistake. Things happen. However, Mr. Coleman immediately denied any responsibility, indicating that EPG is not an alarm system expert and can't be held at fault. He was adamant that they had done nothing wrong, although he couldn't explain the miscommunication he had with the electrician. He then proceeded to ignore emails from us looking for resolution. For us, it's not even about being reimbursed by EPG for the repair work. He's made it clear he has not intention of taking responsibility. A this point we simply don't want other unsuspecting homeowners to engage EPG without knowing what kind of response they may get if anything goes wrong.

It went amazingly well. Kris showed me all areas of concern as he went, all areas where he continued to have concern (eg was the proper wiring used around the gas line from the generator to the house.) He explained what remained to be done: eg load shedding to bring the generator within requisite capacity for my home's energy demands given the 14k generator size and home size combined with utility load (ac, water pump etc,) labeling of panels, etc. He answered and validated my concerns including those about some of the gas plumbing: for example stating that his company's practice was to place the plumbing from the generator to the ground behind and close to the generator unit instead of sticking out to the side of the generator where it was both more vulnerable to the elements and to potential trip hazards for anyone entering or leaving the adjacent bulkhead. The list goes on. I should add that at present I am sight impaired following eye surgery that had not healed as expected, and I am largely home bound. This fact came up in my dealing with Kris's office and with Kris as it impacts my daily including my interactions with those who work on my home. Although this was not spoken of, I have the impression that Kris was going out of his way to help me, knowing that I had concerns about the safety of my home after his predecessor electrician had walked off the job. Not only did Kris inspire confidence in his craftsmanship, he inspired gratitude and appreciation as a human being. More than I can say.
I will hire his company to continue repair and maintenance of my system, and I recommend without hesitation and him most highly to anyone seeking his work or the work of anyone he hires or supervises. A gem of a human being and a gem of a company!

The whole installation took only 5 hours. They showed up promptly at 8, installed the transfer switch (and gave me an extra two circuits for free!), prepped the site, installed the electrical and the gas, and cleaned up. The job is super professional - everything very neatly run. They arranged for the inspections as well.
This is a top-notch group. They specialize in generator installations. If you want a whole-house generator installed (and, you do), these are the guys to use.

I met with several firms and found EPG to be the most knowledgeable and professional. They were extremely responsive and did great work at a competitive price. I would definitely recommend them.
