overall, the job went well. they were rushing a little at the end to get it all done. one new employee was a little messy and they had to come back to clean up all the paint drips. but they came back quickly.

WOW!  I can't say enough about Matt and  his team.  They spent over 4 hours doing labor intensive work in the worst outdoor conditions.   Matt returned my call immediately and I was amazed that he was able to fit me in.  He and his crew showed up the very next day and went to work clearing off the roof.  They had to clear a lot of snow before getting to work on the ice dams.  Even with all the snow in my yard, they managed to wade through it all and get ladders up the back and sides of my house. They worked steadily throughout the morning, and shortly after they left, all the interior leaking stopped.   Matt is professional, down to earth and did not gouge me on the price.  At one point, I looked up at his team on the roof and they were happily chipping away at the ice, as if it were an enjoyable job (I'm sure it was NOT!).  In any case, based on Matt's professionalism and honestly in pricing, I plan to call him in the spring for my painting needs as well.

Matt is one of the most professional contractors i've ever worked with. he talks fast (and can be a little hard to understand on the phone, but don't let that turn you off). we paid a little more than other quotes, but for the high quality work and professional service and conduct - we'll use them for future jobs.

We contacted Castle Complements in June to quote a staining job for our deck and fence.  Since both were newly installed we knew there needed to be sufficient time for the pressure treated materials to dry before applying any finish.  We also wanted to re-stain our existing deck to match the new one.  Our expectation was to get on their schedule to do the job in September.  We signed a contract and sent the required deposit.  We did not hear anything from the company so we contacted them in mid September to inquire about when the project would begin since the weather would begin to be an issue we wanted to avoid from the start.  We were told that due to wet weather the project would be delayed, even though this was the driest August/September in several years. Then, the weather did in fact get wet, further pushing out the start date to October.  We inquired about why we were not scheduled in mid-September as we originally agreed. We were never given an answer that didn't lead us to conclude that we were not put into their schedule as planned even though we contracted with them in June to ensure a Sept start date.  At no time were we contacted to inform us about a delay.  Most communication was in one line emails with little elaboration or explanations.
When the job was finally completed, we were not completely happy with the results.  On the original inspection we inquired about whether the stain on the old deck would need to be stripped before applying the lighter color we wanted.  We were told it was not necessary.  As a result, we can still see the darker color showing through the new stain and another coat will need to be applied in the spring.
We were told in writing on Oct 7th (after the project finished) that an invoice would be sent for the balance due since we had added the painting of some doors that was not in the original contract.  We did not get any invoice until Nov 14th and it came by certified mail, implying for no reason other than the fact we were not  pleased with the company, that we would not honor the contract in good faith. The entire customer service experience was terrible and Mr. Richards was completely unprofessional in his dealings with us. We would not hire this company again for any reason.

It was a very, very good experience from beginning to end. They did a very good job on the quote. The quote process was very, very specific and well thought out. They had a lot of good suggestions and they did very good work. They are not the cheapest guys but the quality makes up for it. They are quoting me for more work.
