This was the first time that we used a kennel for over night boarding and they were excellent. I loved being able to watch my dogs using the web access as it put me at ease. It could get addictive if you're a crazy, dog person! I was able to bring our beds/ blankets, although they do provide them. The suites are small rooms with glass doors. They are also heat/ac temp controlled. Because they are housed in rooms, as opposed to wire kennels, the dogs are not being bombarded by the noise and actions of other dogs. The first floor suites have dogs doors, with outside patio enclosures so that the dogs can move in and out throughout the day. Here they are separated by wire fencing. I'm ok with that. We were in an upstairs suite and the dogs were brought out for potty breaks. They expect nervous pet owners, you can tell. They are fine with and quot;just checking in and quot; calls. They let you tour and look around so that it puts you at ease. Although we had to travel about an hour to get there, it was absolutely worth it. You are paying for an excellent, quality service and the price is well worth it. I have already booked with them again. All of our information is on file and I liked just having to give them our last name and they could Identify our dogs right away. Awesome! That's what you should expect from a luxury boarding kennel. Went very well, Bertie looks like a puppy again, they left his head natural and only trimmed the tail a bit. Bertie suffers with the heat, so they shaved him last year and again this year and,God willing, will do it again next year.
I take my dogs there once a week for doggie day care and they are always very happy and quite exhausted when I pick them up.
I have boarded them at the Barkwood several times for up to 10 days and there have not been any serious problems. I am very pleased with their services.
