The 2 fellows who moved us were great, helpful, and professional. They did the move quickly, carefully, and I will definitely use the service again. And their price was terrific.
I would highly recommend Roadrunner!
They sent out Dani Gomez to do an estimate. He was thorough, asked all the right questions and was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. He was right on with his estimate as well. He knows his job well!
The crew of four arrived earlier than expected which was great for us as we need to be out of our house earlier than expected (and we requested an early arrival but wasn't sure they could do it). They came in, took a look around, asked us a few questions and got to work. They were HARD workers and I was in awe to see how quickly my house was emptying! They took proper care of fragile items, asked questions when needed and told us about any "repacking" of items they wanted to ensure made it to our house safely. They had a method to their madness and somehow it all worked. 4.5 hours later and the house was securely packed into 2 trucks and on the way to overnight storage. The next day, they showed up on time, with a friendly pre phone call from Dave to see if all went well with the closing that morning. Once again, they looked around the new house, asked the right questions again and got to work. They were a repeat of the day before: efficient, respectful, easy going, etc. NO laziness here, NO complaining, just hard work and smiles.
I have to say we had FUN with our crew. They were super easy going and made what should have been TWO super stressful days, a really great experience. It was like working with Superheros :)
Everyone at Roadrunner was amazing, from Dave and Dani, to our crew. I would only use them in the future.
previously stored a large number of boxes in a storage facility that the
company stopped by to pick up. Loading etc took perhaps 5 - 6 hours
and unloading at the other end took about the same time. About 5 workers
participated at each end. They packed on day 1 drove to the new house on day 2 and
unloaded the contents on day 3. there were two trucks involved in the
move.
One item, a chair, was damaged during the move, they took it
back to Boston to be repaired and returned it to us a couple of weeks
later. The repair job was perfect, in fact the chair looked better
after the repair than it did before.
Everyone involved worked at
full capacity and was extremely helpful The company loaded and
unloaded all the contents of wardrobes (special offer)
Full marks - would recommend highly.
Highly recommend
dumpster furniture that we did not want. They were promt, courteous and while this turned into almost a 9 hour job they never charged me extra. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a positive experience in moving.
Problem 1 - the movers were late by about a half hour (said they would be there between 12 and 2 - got there at 2:30. Started at 3). This doesn't seem like a big deal, but I have a feeling that if I hadn't called to find out where they were they may have been a lot later. We were planning on driving to NYC the night before (made arrangements and everything), but because the movers were not done packing up the truck until 6PM, we did not feel comfortable making the trip that night. The head mover said that they were staying overnight in the NYC area and would be there between 9 and 12 the next day, depending on traffic. So we stayed in Providence that night, got up at 3AM (a trick with a baby and cat) and drove like h*** to Brooklyn. We got there at 8, unpacked the car, and waited. They called at 9:15 to tell me they were leaving Stamford, CT. At 11AM they said they were a half hour away. They ended up arriving at 1PM because they had trouble navigating the highways with the truck clearance. They also called to get directions when they were only about a half mile away. This was frustrating.
The actual move out and in was basically uneventful. the team was friendly, very hard working and very helpful.
Problem 2: They wrapped our furniture well (or so it seemed) and only broke glass on one framed picture which they offered to fix for us. But when they arrived in Brooklyn, they told us that we would have to take care of the replacement and gave us $50 off for the glass. When you have a kid, just moved to a new city- this sort of thing is really really frustrating, especially after they offered to fix it.
Problem 3: While unpacking, I realized why the materials cost for packing the fragile items was so high. Items were packed in both bubble wrap AND paper, something that was completely unnecessary. Then when I was putting these fragile items into our antique china cabinet it became clear that the door hinge on the bottom piece was bent so the door doesn't shut and the top cabinet was attached incorrectly (off center). Again, this was frustrating because I had unpacked about half our china into the cabinet already.
I used a local NY company to move me up to Boston and experienced none of these problems. The estimate was on target, the movers were on time and nothing broke when we moved North. If I move up to Boston again I will go back to this company rather than use Road Runner again. If we were moving within Boston, I'd go with a different company... I didn't want to write this review because I wanted to love RoadRunner. But they let me down enough to not whole heartedly recommend them.
The team that came out was friendly, worked quickly and efficiently. Our house was empty by 11am, and we were in our new home by 2:30. The tables that my grandfather built were handled gently, as were the chairs that he made. The team helped us figure out how to organize things in a tricky basement., showed the kids how things get stashed in their truck, and just made the move a pleasure. When they left, my kids were standing on the side of the street, waving good-bye.
Well done, Roadrunner! You almost make me want to move again.
On moving day, a team of 4 arrived with Paul, Joe, Rob, and Peter. Again, they did a great job. We had more stuff then the movers had anticipated, but they stuck to their word with the estimate. They also filled the truck (literally) top to bottom, front to back. Very impressive. And not only was it packed, but none of our stuff got damaged (as far as well can tell since we're not fully unpacked).
We drove down to our new house and met them the next morning. Rob and Peter spent the day unloading. They were very skillful and careful with our stuff. That was one thing I should mention; they packed and transported all of our furniture very carefully. They also reassembled everything they had disassembled.
All in all we were very happy with Roadrunner and would use them again in a second.
The movers showed up on time, were friendly, professional, clean and respectful. All our belongings were well taken care of and returned in just as good condition. The cost of the move was exactly what was quoted to me up front.
This was an A+ experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Roadrunner Moving and Storage.
