I reviewed a number of movers and got an education.  Those with the lowest prices are typically brokers and not companies with their own equipment.  Pricing ranged from $1200 to $6000.  I finally decided to use Angie's List and Better Business Bureau reviews as a more reliable starting point and soon came up with 3 movers that I began to explore thoroughly, or as thoroughly as one can for this industry.  Roadrunner in the persons of Dave and Sabrina soon demonstrated to me that the characteristics of professionalism and due diligence were as important to them as they are to me.  From generating an inventory list to wading through insurance options, to their timely pick up of the furniture at my house and delivery to my daughter's home they provided constant support and communication.  The furniture was blanket wrapped individually and handled with care, my son in law received the delivery and was impressed with their handling and professionalism.  All items arrived in excellent shape.  The 5% discount on the delivered price

Everything about them from the time I talked to the sales rep to the end of the moving was terrific.
The 2 fellows who moved us were great, helpful, and professional.  They did the move quickly, carefully, and I will definitely use the service again.  And their price was terrific.

The team was fantastic.  From the first call to the last piece of furniture moved, we could not have asked for a better experience.  I have had some very bad moving experiences in the past and was gunshy, but the estimate was spot on, the team was prompt, careful, and highly trustworthy.  They even helped move a piece or two that were left in the new house for us by the previous owners.
I would highly recommend Roadrunner!

On our moving day, 3 guys showed up right on time. They did an excellent job wrapping furniture, and moving them down a narrow staircase. They moved everything carefully, but fast, often moving 2 heavy boxes at a time. They also did a great job unloading once we got to our new place. They paid careful attention to the labels on the boxes. Not one box ended up in a room it was not supposed to be. They are also very pleasant to work with. We will not hesitate to use them again.

The move was very smooth, thanks to the great staff at Roadrunner. They were prompt to provide a reasonable quote, which they came in under based on my husband moving much of our attic storage to the first floor to save time. They moved on two very hot 90 degree weather days without any complaint. Their work was fast & flawless - helping us to organize our boxes in the new basement and setting up our furniture in all rooms without any issues. We were very happy overall and would definitely recommend them to all.

Roadrunner exceeded my expectations in all aspects. I received three estimates, two from companies a fair distance away and one from my local movers in Gloucester thinking I might save on travel hours. All came in within a few hundred of each other,  with Roadrunner being in the middle. I had really felt at ease after speaking with Dave at Roadrunner so I wanted to see if I could get the pricing to work with them. He was actually the ONLY one willing to negotiate on pricing a bit to make me happy. AND in addition, they came in UNDER their cap!
They sent out Dani Gomez to do an estimate. He was thorough, asked all the right questions and was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. He was right on with his estimate as well. He knows his job well!
The crew of four  arrived earlier than expected which was great for us as we need to be out of our house earlier than expected (and we requested an early arrival but wasn't sure they could do it). They came in, took a look around, asked us a few questions and got to work. They were HARD workers and I was in awe to see how quickly my house was emptying! They took proper care of fragile items, asked questions when needed and told us about any "repacking" of items they wanted to ensure made it to our house safely. They had a method to their madness and somehow it all worked. 4.5 hours later and the house was securely packed into 2 trucks and on the way to overnight storage. The next day, they showed up on time, with a friendly pre phone call from Dave to see if all went well with the closing that morning. Once again, they looked around the new house, asked the right questions again and got to work. They were a repeat of the day before: efficient, respectful, easy going, etc. NO laziness here, NO complaining, just hard work and smiles.
I have to say we had FUN with our crew. They were super easy going and made what should have been TWO super stressful days, a really great experience. It was like working with Superheros :)
Everyone at Roadrunner was amazing, from Dave and Dani, to our crew. I would only use them in the future.

We had boxed almost everything prior to the move.  We had also
previously stored a large number of boxes in a storage facility that the
company stopped by to pick up.  Loading etc took perhaps 5 - 6 hours
and unloading at the other end took about the same time. About 5 workers
participated at each end.  They packed on day 1 drove to the new house on day 2 and
unloaded the contents on day 3.  there were two trucks involved in the
move.
One item, a chair, was damaged during the move, they took it
back to Boston to be repaired and returned it to us a couple of weeks
later.   The repair job was perfect, in fact the chair looked better
after the repair than it did before.
Everyone involved worked at
full capacity and was extremely  helpful  The company loaded and
unloaded all the contents of wardrobes (special offer)
Full marks - would recommend highly.

Dave worked with me throughout the scheduling process even though we didn't know the exact date until less than a week prior. Gave good advice on boxes and packing materials. They were on time. Professional and attentive. Boxes to move hanging closets without taking clothes off hangers were a life saver. Finished $300 below estimate.
Highly recommend

Absolutely the best moving company that we have used over the years.  We recently moved from Boston to Tucson, AZ.  We had a lot of personal things in our condo in Boston as well as in another location an hour south of Boston.   We needed a crane to move some furniture out of our Boston condo and they arranged for that and the police dispatch also.  They also worked with my husband move his home improvement business from South Boston.   All was done with great communication from day one, fantastic movers who packed up all our belongings (and there was lots) from all locations.  The moving team was incredibly efficient, courteous and clean.  The cross country team arrived on time and they unloaded with fantastic speed, efficiency and neatness.   This moving company really knows what they are doing. I would highy recommend them for local or long distance moving.  *****  5star.

They were extremely nice, thorough and their customer service was excellent. We have moved frequently and they were the best moving company we have worked with. Even our lightbulbs made it undamaged, which is not that common when moving. There were a few things that got damaged, they paid us immediately for the value of the items. They were very apologetic and couldn't have been nicer. They waited at the end while we were unpacking to take away a lot of the paper and boxes. I would highly recommend them to other members!

These guys are awesome.....   Not only did they efficiently  move us; they actually took it upon themselves to throw into our
dumpster furniture that we did not want.  They were promt, courteous and while this turned into almost a 9 hour job they never charged me extra.   I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a positive experience in moving.

We were moving from Boston to Brooklyn. Dave, the estimator, assured me that the movers would be there as early as possible the next day in Brooklyn. We made arrangements to rent a car and a place to stay in NYC the night of the pick up so we would definetly be there the morning of the move-in. That seemed great - we wanted to have a full day to unpack. We were moving our cat and young daughter too, so the sooner we were in the better for all of us.
Problem 1 - the movers were late by about a half hour (said they would be there between 12 and 2 - got there at 2:30. Started at 3). This doesn't seem like a big deal, but I have a feeling that if I hadn't called to find out where they were they may have been a  lot later. We were planning on driving to NYC the night before (made arrangements and everything), but because the movers were not done packing up the truck until 6PM, we did not feel comfortable making the trip that night. The head mover said that they were staying overnight in the NYC area and would be there between 9 and 12 the next day, depending on traffic. So we stayed in Providence that night, got up at 3AM (a trick with a baby and cat) and drove like h*** to Brooklyn. We got there at 8, unpacked the car, and waited. They called at 9:15 to tell me they were leaving Stamford, CT. At 11AM they said they were a half hour away. They ended up arriving at 1PM because they had trouble navigating the highways with the truck clearance. They also called to get directions when they were only about a half mile away. This was frustrating.
The actual move out and in was basically uneventful. the team was friendly, very hard working and very helpful.
Problem 2: They wrapped our furniture well (or so it seemed) and only broke glass on one framed picture which they offered to fix for us. But when they arrived in Brooklyn, they told us that we would have to take care of the replacement and gave us $50 off for the glass. When you have a kid, just moved to a new city- this sort of thing is really really frustrating, especially after they offered to fix it.
Problem 3: While unpacking, I realized why the materials cost for packing the fragile items was so high. Items were packed in both bubble wrap AND paper, something that was completely unnecessary. Then when I was putting these fragile items into our antique china cabinet it became clear that the door hinge on the bottom piece was bent so the door doesn't shut and the top cabinet was attached incorrectly (off center). Again, this was frustrating because I had unpacked about half our china into the cabinet already.
I used a local NY company to move me up to Boston and experienced none of these problems. The estimate was on target, the movers were on time and nothing broke when we moved North. If I move up to Boston again I will go back to this company rather than use Road Runner again. If we were moving within Boston, I'd go with a different company... I didn't want to write this review because I wanted to love RoadRunner. But they let me down enough to not whole heartedly recommend them.

Martin came out and gave us an estimate, and then discussed with me how we could reduce our costs. He pointed out which items would be awkward or fragile to move, and explained that the crew would take extra time and care in moving them. But, he said, if we packed and transported those items ourselves, we'd save money.  He also suggested having signs on the door to each room, saying what the room was and what was going into it.  He suggested drawing a (very) rough map of the room, showing where the furniture goes, so that the crew can work quickly, continuously, and accurately. We followed his advice,  and spent a couple of weeks moving the fragile items, plants, etc, mapping the rooms - and saved $700! Martin also asked about our children, and we talked about how his crew interacts with children, and helps them feel involved in the move - if that's what the children (and parents) want. He had a very thoughtful, humane way of thinking about the move, and I appreciated that.
The team that came out was friendly, worked quickly and efficiently. Our house was empty by 11am, and we were in our new home by 2:30.  The tables that my grandfather built were handled gently, as were the chairs that he made. The team helped us figure out how to organize things in a tricky basement., showed the kids how things get stashed in their truck, and just made the move a pleasure. When they left, my kids were standing on the side of the street, waving good-bye.
Well done, Roadrunner! You almost make me want to move again.

We moved from Somerville, MA to Cherry Hill, NJ and would highly recommend this company to anyone.  They had the perfect mix of professionalism but were also down to earth.  Dave was a great sales guy (I guess he's a part owner) and made me feel very comfortable with the process.  He offered a lot of great moving tips.  We then pushed our moving date a few times, but they were very accommodating and didn't complain.  Finally, the day before the move, they came to help pack and even though my wife had a small panic attack, they were amazingly understanding and professional.  No attitude about our nerves.  The first day Paul and Joe were the main packers, and they really set our mind at ease.  They worked fast and showed great skill packing up our stuff.  It showed when we unpacked.  They were really understanding about us changing our minds regarding one thing or another.  It made a big difference since I find moving reduces my brain capacity by 40%, so I have a harder time making decisions.
On moving day, a team of 4 arrived with Paul, Joe, Rob, and Peter.  Again, they did a great job.  We had more stuff then the movers had anticipated, but they stuck to their word with the estimate.  They also filled the truck (literally) top to bottom, front to back.  Very impressive.  And not only was it packed, but none of our stuff got damaged (as far as well can tell since we're not fully unpacked).
We drove down to our new house and met them the next morning.  Rob and Peter spent the day unloading.  They were very skillful and careful with our stuff.  That was one thing I should mention; they packed and transported all of our furniture very carefully.  They also reassembled everything they had disassembled.
All in all we were very happy with Roadrunner and would use them again in a second.

Roadrunner was fantastic, beginning to end.  They were the most responsive right up front, they responded back immediately via email and kept up their quick responses throughout the entire process.
The movers showed up on time, were friendly, professional, clean and respectful.  All our belongings were well taken care of and returned in just as good condition.  The cost of the move was exactly what was quoted to me up front.
This was an A+ experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Roadrunner Moving and Storage.
