Description of Work: A very good quality, reliable, on-time General Contractor for home renovations is hard to find. This company, Plattypus, owned by Kevin Platt is just that. They are value-priced meaning their prices are commensurate with their quality and reliability. If you're looking only for low cost, Plattypus isn't for you. On the other hand, you definitely won't be paying at the top end. At the end of the day, I was quite happy about the work, was overjoyed at their timeliness, and comfortable with the final cost. That's what I call an excellent value!** Plattypus renovated my penthouse duplex in the South End, did a great job and delivered the 4 month project ON THE DAY promised.** Kevin guaranteed his work, came back to address those last 5-10% minor issues promptly and even came back to resolve things he didn't cause, like settling...years after the project completed. When it was time to replace my roof and roof deck, of course I called Kevin! Plattypus will deliver the project at the cost of the original estimate...no surprises.** The challenge in any renovation project is to be clear and specific about exactly what you want during the quotation phase so as to avoid ""client extras"" later that can add $$ to the original quote. Also try to be up front about any special requests. For me it was insistence on a very high level of clean up each Friday when I was living at home during the construction of my roof deck. I insisted that the carpeted stairs be covered with special plastic protection, that the plastic be removed each Friday, and new plastic be put on Monday mornings... which was more costly than usual. Therefore I suggest discussing any special requests and expectations with Kevin at the outset. The trick is to understand EXACTLY what is in the project quote before signing any contractor agreement and don't assume or hope that any work not specifically stated is included or implied. At Plattypus there are many good tradesmen, but Dietrich is the master - lead guy and carpenter extraordinaire, he is a gem, and easy to communicate with!! All in all, I highly recommend Plattypus.

Description of Work: Complete master bath remodel. Took old bathroom down to the studs. New Electrical, new plumbing, level floors, level walls. Tile, custom woodworking, wallpaper, custom glass shower, new fixtures. In short a complete transformation.
