Saturday morning I found out that the front door of my condo in Cambridge wouldn't close. After fiddling with it for 20 minutes I realized that professional help was needed. I called up a contractor that I worked with in the recent past but could not get a hold of him. Therefore, I created my account on Angieslist.com and within minutes I found 3 carpenters whose business was located within a few blocks from my home. I called the one that had the best review first, he answered immediately and 30 minutes after he was at my place. It took him 30 minutes to fix the door and was happy with the $20 that I gave him. I wish it was always this easy! By the way, I REALLY would love to get to see Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me!!!

UHI Contractors of Cambridge did high quality work, offered fair pricing, gave good explanations, stuck to the job until it was done and cleaned up. The contractors were pleasant to interact with and hard working. This company has extensive experience in all phases of general contracting from building additions to kitchen remodeling to painting, but I originally chose them to repair my balcony. The damage to the balcony was more extensive than anticipated and the pricing was adjusted to reflect that. I appreciate that they were careful to show me the damage and talk to me about the additional work that was necessary because of that. During the course of doing the work, they suspected termite damage. I contacted a pest control company to do an inspection and they confirmed termite infestation. Because of this I needed additional work on the porch, below the balcony, removal of materials in the basement and installation of a basement window. Luckily, they were able to do this work quickly as well. A neighbor, who saw the quality of their work on my house, enlisted their aid on a project. Like me, they had termite damage. Unlike me, their termite damage was far more extensive than mine, because it had been going on for a much longer time. I am very grateful to this company for suggesting possible termite problems so that I could prevent more extensive damage. Because of the article in Angie's List about illegal immigration, I should also say that although Augusto Estariz, the head of this company, is not a native to this country, being originally from Bolivia, he is not an illegal immigrant. I made a very good choice in selecting UHI.

SUCH AN EXCELLENT CRAFTSMAN. VERY HONEST. HAS A LOT OF INTEGRITY. IS VERY WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU TO GET WHAT YOU NEED. I WAS SO PLEASED WITH HIS INITIAL WORK THAT I CONTINUED HAVING HIM DO OTHER THINGS FOR ME. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANYTHING HE CANNOT DO WELL. CLEANS UP AFTER HIMSELF VERY WELL.
