MACARTHUR CONSTRUCTION COMPANY INC AKA MACCOCO

Overall the design of the remodel went well, but the actual building work was over-schedule and over budget - both on an extreme level. Months went by when no one was working at our house and the builder always had excuses. On our contract, the house was to be finished in 9 months, and it took 2 years. We paid a lot for Duncan MacArthur and Ray Lemiuex to manage this project, but their sub-contractors were rarely supervised, and many performed inferior quality work that has had to be repaired by us. A shocking amount of work was unfinished when we moved in, with many appliances and systems not working. Two months ago, we requested worker's time sheets and audited our invoices. We found that MacArthur violated our contract by overcharging us for worker's hours by $68,000, and double charged us for several large items. He has refused to finish the work, and we now must go to arbitration. This has been a stressful and terrible experience, and I would never recommend this builder.
