Lechmere Rug Co.

I would strongly recommend anyone to go to Lechmere Rug. We had a lovely wool rug and runner  installed in our basement in our home in Waban. The process was very easy and stress free. Patrick senior works the sales floor on the weekend is helpful/ humorous and does not use any pressure sales tactics. The installation measure was easy and the carpet measurer arrived on time and was polite. The carpet installation was a bit of a process as the usual installer was not available which led to another rather poorly trained staff to install my carpet leaving several problems with the installation.  Not to worry as the company does not employ these people anymore! The company always responded quickly and professionally and honestly wanted to resolve the situation. Patrick junior who seems to run the business was overall very helpful and totally went out of his way to make everything right. The company ended up replacing the rug and runner and making things look perfect and beautiful at no extra expense to us. My suggestion is to check this place out, take some samples home and try what work for you.  It is easy to get a quote as they have a nice person there who can figure out the costs. They have amazingly beautiful wool rugs at a fraction of the cost of Dover Rug and give them a try with the following caveat- Be sure to  ask for John who has been an installer with them for 27years- he will make your install be seamless and just perfect  and the carpet will look like a work of ART. It is really important the installer knows what he or she is doing as this is really an art and a bad install will leave you upset with how the carpet looks.  If a young group of males shows up for your install wait for John ( In his 40s-  silver fox type)  as he is really the only one I would want installing anything. The parking is small and the shop is not really luxurious - sort of cold and drafty but well worth the savings for the end product that you will have in your home. I Would  recommend this company to neighbors and friends for sure. I am so so so happy with the job they did and can't wait for my project to be finished.

My experience with Lechmere was wonderful from start to finish.  I was in need of a quick turnaround on an installation of new carpeting in part of a rental unit.  I wanted something straightforward, economical and I really didn't want a big sales pitch on higher end stuff.   I spoke to Pat Sr. on the phone and told him my predicament- right away I could tell he was practically reading my mind, he was so friendly and reassuing. He told me if I could stop by the showroom at lunch to look at their in stock samples, he could have someone come measure the space the next day (Saturday) and he might be able to do the install as early as the following week.  This was already music to my ears... At the showroom, Pat was super friendly, he helped me right away to pick out a nice looking but economical option.  He calculated a price for me base on my guesstimate of room size (which ended up being about 30% too small), and told me of ways we could save money (ripping out the old carpet ourselves). His son, Pat Jr. came by the next day (Saturday) to measure, right on time and was very cordial and professional. Then Pat Sr. called me within an hour with the final price and took my credit card info over the phone.  True as promised, they were able to schedule the install the following week and most importantly,  the carpet looks fabulous.  The fact that this family run company has been in business for 50+ years made me feel comfortable enough with them to leave a key so they could let themselves in, since I could not get out of work to do so.  A million thanks to Pat and Pat at Lechmere!

My wife and I bought our first home and it has hardwood floors. We are converting one bedroom into a theatre room and wanted a big rug to help cut down on echos. We went to Lechmere rug co on a Sunday and browsed their extensive collection of rugs. Almost every rug they had there they could order in multiple different sizes. We ended up selecting an 8 x 11 foot rug. We paid $899 The rug came in about a week later and they delivered it to our new house. We all forgot about the pad that day, but my wife and I realized the next day that we forgot the pad. We called and they said we could come out and pick it up the pad any time. Later that day we called them and 15 minutes later we arrived at the store. He brought the pad right out to our car. Excellent folks, really nice people and I would certainly get any future rugs I need from them again.

The place has a fork lift inside, but don't let that fool you. Tell them what you are looking for and they will be helpful. Tell them you are poking around, and they will leave you alone.

They are a locally owned business and have a showroom in Cambridge. They have really good prices. They are very handy, come right out and are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to others.

All home improvements should go this well. We found a couple of carpets that were possibles (from the rolls in-store) and took samples with us. We made arrangements then and there for installation (we called back later with our selection). We chose an install-date for the following week (plenty of times to choose from). They came as arranged - pulled out the old carpet, installed the new one, and picked up completely after themselves (including taking out the old one). The carpet is perfect. I marked the price as A even though it was on the high-end of my range - but I think the quality is higher (time will tell), and I do value the short investment of time (we were in and out of the store in about 45 minutes, since we took the small samples to evaluate in the room).

Excellent. My husband and I had gone to too many stores searching for nice area rugs before finding Lechmere Rug. Although their area rug selection is small, they carried the best selection we found. I appreciated not having to flip through hundreds of ugly rugs!

THE SALESPERSON DID A GREAT JOB HELPING US DECIDE BETWEEN A RUG AND WALL-TO-WALL CARPETING, AND THEN HELPED US FIGURE OUT WHAT KIND OF RUG AND RUG SIZE WOULD WORK BEST. THE DELIVERY MAN WAS ON TIME, WHICH IS SUCH A RARE THING, AND HE HELPED POSITION THE RUG IN THE ROOM. THEY WERE HELPFUL, AND RELIABLE THE WHOLE TIME.
