Unexpected complications occurred but the job got done. Happy with the final result.

The biggest drawback of this company is their non-response to calls and emails. Things started out well: Mike came out to give an estimate and was punctual and professional. He gave me a verbal quote for the work and said he'd email it, but I never got an email from him. Soon after he came by we scheduled a plumber to come and do the work. The plumber did a nice job, but after he completed the work we wanted he stuck around for almost 2 more hours trying to figure out why our other radiators were not coming on. After over an hour of the plumber calling his boss for ideas to try out, and replacing vents on the radiators, even though those vents were brand new as of a year ago and working fine the last time we had the heat on, my husband convinced him to leave and come back with someone else who may have more ideas. Well, a few days later we turned the heat on and all of the radiators in our house came on (some came on after some delay, which is normal for our house). When I explained this to Victor he credited us one hour of labor. We appreciated that, but we felt we were still being asked to pay for time in which nothing was getting accomplished and for vents that did not need replacing. Although, when I did get a hold of him, Victor was kind and courteous, It was like pulling teeth to get a response and settle the bill. I had to call multiple times, over the course of two weeks. We ended up coming to an agreement on the price of labor on our bill, but we still ended up paying for new vents that replaced new vents... and the plumber didn't leave us both the new vents that he replaced. I am disappointed, as things started out so well and I thought we finally had found a local plumber we can use again. No such luck.

A few unexpected complications but not the fault of the plumber and the plumber and the company handled it very professionally.

Mike from Alewife was not only responsive to a same day call, but he did excellent work. He was friendly and personable, knowledgable, patient in making sure I knew what was going on, thorough in his work, and efficient. Beyond the work that had to get done, he took a look at my whole system and let me know what other fixes could/should be done, and how urgent they were—not using scare tactics, but just factually letting me know what he thought might happen, and that it was my decision how and when to act. I will not hesitate to call Alewife if I ever need anything again.

They send guys another shift. We use them all the time.

Once again, Alewife Plumbing shows up as promised, is efficient, knowledgeable, and insightful. We had called to have the gas line to our dryer disconnected and they completed that job thoroughly, and also disconnected the line to our washer- since the man on the job, Jim, noticed that it was in bad shape. Lo and behold- they saved us time and trouble. The valve to the washer needed replacing, and it was a good thing he caught it- otherwise, the washer/dryer delivery folks would not have taken our machine away. Two thumbs up.

Very well every time. They have great staff who really want to help a new homeowner. They were always responsive and available quickly, turned up on time, did great work and charged reasonable rates (though fair warning that no decent plumber is ever cheap!)

They were timely and dealt with a few curve balls like a dishwasher that needed to be sawed out and a tight fit for a slide in range. My wife and I called the office and there were some mixed signals about when we needed the plumber to return to connect things. Also, they don't seem to respond quickly to emails or off hour calls. Once I called during business hours they were very quick to schedule. Overall, the office staff and the onsite plumbers that worked with us were great and motivated to help us get or project done.

Donald was the plumber who helped us. He had been helped us on a previous occasion and that was relevant to us hiring Alewife again in this case. Two of us condo trustees were present to meet him at the job and we were both very satisfied with the work. We liked Donald's friendliness and willingness to explain what the technical problems were and how he proposed to fix them (at the beginning of the job) and then afterwards, what he had done.

I went well.
I called, they told me they would be there in the afternoon which was fine.  They called before showing up, which was by noon.  It took a little while to diagnois the problem.  He had the pump need but had to get another part to fix the problem which didn't take too long.  The problem was fixed shortly after getting the part..
I took a couple of hours.  I don't know if they are the cheapest, but they are very professional and don't give you the run around about when they will show up, a problem I have had with other plumbers.

We were able to schedule service a week in advance. The whole job cost us more than expected, but absolutely reasonable considering how difficult it was to replace our kitchen faucet. We're so happy that Alewife Plumbing didn't walk away from the job and now we have a kitchen faucet that works! We would definitely use them again.

They arrived on time and discovered that the disposal was nearly falling off. The plumber tightened it and explained that it was close to falling off which would have flooded my apartment. quick fix and JUST IN TIME.

they have consistently been responsive, reasonably priced, and done good work.

Most went well. Of all the times they came only once did I have a problem.  I was replacing my washer/dryer stackable. The one  I bought was defective so I had to have it removed and reinstalled a couple of times.  Since the dryer is gas,  a plumber  had to disconnect the old dryer from the gas line and then come back to reconnect the gas for the new dryer.  One time a young plumber came and did some damage.  The company reimbursed me for it and correct the problem.   In terms of cost they are on the middle of the spectrum.  I would hire them again. The older plumbers are efficient, personable, and knowledgable.
