Scott and his crew are extremely reliable and do impeccable work. They let us know the day and time they would arrive, and they arrived at that time. After the finished the job, there was no evidence that anyone had worked on our wall and it looked brand new. They were also extremely courteous and easy going. I highly recommend contacting Thompson for your masonry needs.

Scott came out and and gave me a quote within a couple of days of me contacting him. He gave me a great price because it was inside work during the off (slow) season. They came out when promised and finished in a few days. During the work it rained heavily and one wall was actively leaking. Scott rigged it so it would leak into a 5 gal bucket and would come back and do the repair which he did. He also suggested a contractor to come install a sump pump just in case which I did do . They came back in the spring to do the outside exposed walls and while doing that Scott saw where the water was likely coming from and he mitigated it by regrading and adding plenty of concrete. He even took some extra time to find some stones around my property and build a small wall to help channel water away from a problem spot. We had a slight misunderstanding over the price of the outside work but Scott was very professional about this and we came to an agreement My foundation looks great inside and out.

We couldn't be happier working with this third-generation masonry company! When we contacted Scott for an estimate, he called back right away and scheduled an appointment quickly. He offered a number of solutions to our problem which other masons who came to view the job hadn't even thought of. He was knowledgeable and helpful; we were also glad to learn that he was experienced working with insurance companies. The estimate we got was competitively priced and fair.
Thompson and Crowley showed up right on time on the day we agreed on, completed the work in the time estimated, and left our place clean as could be. We were impressed with the professionalism, integrity, reliability, and diligence of this company. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing masonry work on the North Shore, and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for another project. Thanks for a great experience!

I live on the slope of a hill, so I have a retaining wall on one side of my yard (my yard / house is on the lower side of the retaining wall. When I bought this property, the retaining wall had failed. This was an old crumbling wall that buckled outwards and really looked terrible and felt dangerous. I talked to a few different companies about how to fix this situation, but I ended up going with this company.
Scott built me a beautiful stone wall for 2/3 of the next closest quote (which was for a block wall). Loved the cheaper price and definitely prefer stone over blocks. We had originally planned on just using New England field rounds and flats, but Scott upgraded me to a much nicer stone for free (I think because the start date of the construction kept getting pushed back).
I'm super happy with this wall. It's really a delight. I feel like I can now invite people into my yard without having to apologize for the old eyesore broken down wall. The only thing that frustrated me a little bit was timing. We tentatively set up a late June start date, but the wall wasn't actually started until halfway through August. It was completely out of our control - there was a _ton_ of rain throughout the summer this year, which impedes progress on outdoor construction projects. And even though it took longer than I wanted, I'm very pleased with the way my wall turned out.
I will definitely go to Scott for future masonry needs.

My front brick stairs were falling apart; they were installed in the 1950's sometime. I had searched online and spoke to friends to get a company I could trust. I called Thompson and Crowley of Lynn MA
The best phone call I made!
Scott Crowley spent the entire day working on the job. He never and quot;hadand quot; to check prices, stock or leave the site.
He and his employees did everything they could to keep me informed of any all work being done each day; when they would arrive and leave.
He and his men came to work with me and establish a strong business relationship.
Neither my wife nor I ever questioned if we made a mistake allowing Crowley Thompson to re-do our stairs.
Taking my L shape retaining wall and redesigning it into an S wall.....my neighbors give me all the compliments for my design !!!!
The entire job lasted 2 1/2 weeks but with something special: He wanted my stairs and wall to look great ! He didn't care about the time- just the finished product! He has that desire to succeed.
To answer your question would I recommend him......YES!
Thanks

Our neighbors got a bit overzealous in their efforts to install a retaining wall and ended up digging a rather large trench in our yard. After several weeks of back and forth with them, we decided to build our own retaining wall....
We called Scott on a Saturday, and he got right back to us to schedule an estimate on Sunday. He came on time and gave us a fair quote, including a rough estimate to include the neighbor's property (for their information). We had some scheduling issues due to the weather and our trip out of town, but we locked in a date about three weeks out. Scott and his crew dropped off the stone for the wall on a Wednesday and were here bright and early Thursday morning. The wall was completed Friday afternoon and looks beautiful!
In addition to building the wall, Scott skim-coated our front steps to cover a less than expert patch job by my dear husband. Scott and Jeff were pleasant and cheerful to work with. I have three little boys ages 6, 4 and 3 who were beyond excited to see the big truck and the tools. They gave them stone to play with, let them ask a million and one questions and were so patient and kind. I would have them back again just for the way they treated my kids!!
The wall looks just like we imagined, made with local stone and will be here long after we are. They cleaned up the site each night and left things sparkly clean. We had Scott give us an estimate on repointing our foundation and hope to see him again soon!

Scott came out on a Sunday evening to look at the work needed. He took his time looking at all the foundation and stairs. He is very knowledable and I felt he would do a good job. They told me when they would be coming out. They showed up ontime went to work and worked until the job was finished. He did an excellent job under the back sunporch where the foundation was basically a bunch of loose stone.

In the past when it rained I would get seepage in my basement. I rained h****** Saturday and not a drop in the basement.

We had old, pre-cast cement front steps that were crumbling, and needed to be replaced. We got bids from 3 different outfits. I selected Thompson and Crowley because I liked their approach. It's a family owned and operated company, and the owner knows stone inside and out. He explained to me that they use local New England granite, whereas many of the competitors use cheaper (and softer) granite from China. I like the idea of using local materials, and love the look of the local granite. They showed up on time, did what they said they were going to do, and did a beautiful job on our new steps. We love the way they look; they'll probably outlast the house itself! Also, they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves when they were through. We would definitely call them again when the next set of stairs starts to go.

The work was more expensive than we'd originally planned on. I don't know the business and the cost of granite, so it's hard for me to say whether the cost was high or low. It seemed like a lot of money to us, but we were very satisfied with the result and from that point of view don't feel like we paid too much. Also, we did get quotes from other companies, and Tand C's price was in line with the other quotes we got, so from that I judge that it was a fair price. I know that some of the cost was for transportation, which involved the quarry's specialized truck and equipment to offload the granite blocks, and that can't have been cheap for how heavy those blocks were.

All in all, we were extremely happy with the process and the result.

My first contractor started the job but never finished before winter and would not respond to my emails about finishing the job. I spent the winter climbing over piles of dirt, bricks, and tools partially covered with a large blue tarp that kept coming loose.

In the spring I called Thompson and Crowley Masonry and hired them to do the job. They graded and filled the driveway, which was not done properly by previous contractor, laid down pavers and lined the driveway with granite blocks. After 2 years of use it still looks spectacular.

I also had them replace my back 2 step with old granite curb stones--what a great look and they won't disintegrate! and replace another step with granite.

Thompson and Crowley Masonry showed up when they said they would and were very professional. I couldn't be happier with their work. I have a driveway for 6 months of the year and a patio for the other 6 months.

I highly recommend Thompson and Crowley Masonry.

It started in November with Scharaffa Masonry. Marc Scharaffa excavated driveway and laid down one third of the pavers. Rather than finish (there were at least 3 days that he could have worked) he put a big blue tarp over my driveway, left a brick pile and a sand pile under the tarp and said he would finish in the spring. Also left refuse from the excavation in garden along with some of his tools. Come spring I emailed him and could not get an answer. He finally emailed me to say he would be out to finish, by that time I had hired someone else. Enter Thompson and Crowley Masonry. Scott removed all of the pavers, packed and leveled the driveway and had it done in 2 days. After 7 months I finally have a finished driveway. I also had Scott do my back steps. Had reclaimed granite installed--it looks great and the best part is---it won't disintegrate! I plan to have Scott do my chimney later this summer.
