Fred took the time he needed to give the piano a good tuning now, and recommended another tuning in 6 months (when the instrument is exposed to lower humidity). He gave advice for proper care for long-term maintenance of the value of the piano. I was really pleased with the sound of the piano when he was finished.
Description of Work: Fred came to our home and tuned our baby grand Steinway piano.

Andy arrived on time and explained his work, took his time, and didn't appear to mind an inquisitive four-year-old hanging out while he tuned. I appreciated his honesty about the state of the piano. Not very sure how cost compares, as I hadn't had it tuned since receiving it a three years ago.
Description of Work: Initial piano tuning on an old, not very high-end piano that had been painfully neglected for 20 years. Andy (the tuner) explained that he would have to very carefully tune, and do it twice, as the strings were old and the piano so out of tune. Returned in 6 months to tune again and explained that the piano might never sound great... second time cost was $100.

HE HAS A GREAT EAR FOR THIS WORK AND REALLY UNDERSTAND THE INNER WORKINGS OF GRAND PIANOS. HE WORKS ON MANY 'CLUB' PIANOS AND YOU CAN TELL BY TALKING TO HIM THAT HE'S VERY EXPERIENCED. HE'S ALSO WILLING TO WORK WITH ME AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, HE CLEANS THE SOUND BOARD WITH A SPECIAL DUSTER THAT FITS THROUGH THE LINES AND REPLACES THE FILTERS IN THE HUMIDITY SYSTEM WHEN THEY NEED IT. GRAND PIANO'S ARE NOT CHEAP AND I TRUST HIM TO TAKE CARE OF MINE.
