J F MULLINS REMODELING

We had consulted with Joe back in June 2012 requesting an estimate on remodel of our garage and adding a master suite above it. Due to the restrictions and the size of the lot we had to get a variance through the city. In order to get a variance a surveyor and architect plans were required. I did all the running around to save us time and money with the builder for nothing. He had ample opportunity to tell us the project was going to cost alot more upon receipt of the first set of architect plans but he did not he just proceeded to string us along. We went through this entire exercise for a total of 3800 and 6 months later we received a final price of 213K when he had given us an estimate of 60-80 for the remodel and even indicated he could put an entire second story on our ranch for 150-180K. Every step of the way he did not meet our expectation from the architect who had 2 no shows to the sub contractos coming and giving me a time frame of 2-3 weeks when it took closer to 8 weeks. What bothers me the most was we expected the project to begin in the fall and with that I took out a mortgage for the estimate with a significant buffer so not only are we out the expense of the project but the closing costs of a mortgage we never would have taken out..
