Great company. Martin and Arthur are very skilled and professional. They did great work and dealt with unique issues in our old floors. They were always on time or early, communication was great, and price was in line with other estimates I got.

Martin was prompt, helpful, knowledgeable, and fit us right into his schedule. He was very understanding and flexible with regard to other tradesmen that we had coming in and out as well. His price was very reasonable and the floors came out beautiful. One set of the stairs were in terrible shape and we were unsure how they would turn out, but Martin worked some kind of magic and we were very pleased with the result! We also had a spot where another carpenter had added some new hardwood to fill a gap where we renovated, and the difference in wood was obvious after refinishing. I spoke to Martin about trying to match the older wood and he retuned within a day and fixed the issue. I would highly recommend Martin and his team to anyone looking to refinish floors.

It went perfectly! Martin installed new hardwood floors in my beacon hill apartment, which wasn't easy since there isn't much room to work around the cabinets and appliances. I went on vacation for a week and left him the keys. When I came back, the floor was done and looks incredible. I highly recommend Celtic Floor Craft.

Martin Fogarty, owner of Celtic Floorcraft in Brighton, MA and his team did an outstanding job of refinishing a water-damaged, 20- year old kitchen floor with four coats of polyurethane, and making the adjacent oak hall floor look like new, The kitchen was challenging, but Martin took a personal interest in returning the floor to the best possible condition. His responsiveness and professionalism was exemplary, and they even provided some additional engineered floor boards for future repairs. I would highly recommend Celtic Floorcraft to anyone refinishing wood floors.

I had them come when we were away to refinish a hardwood floor, and I wanted them to do 3 coats. I had asked that they match the other floors in the house. They put a very shiny coat on the floor, which didn't match the other floors. Also, the floor was very rough. I called them back out, and they rebuffed the floors and put down a satin finish. The refinished floor don't match exactly, but I expected that. The new floor isn't exactly even, either and the price was high.

Celtic Floorcraft was one of the best vendors we worked with. Martin was very responsive, and walked me through the process. After our initial visit, Martin explained that we could save some money tearing up the floor ourselves, so I did that. It was difficult, and I can understand why a flooring company would charge a lot for it. In any case, after that, Martin came in, evaluated the floor, went over the best type of wood to use to match the other hardwood floors in the house (kitchen had been linoleum before that, with a crappy sub-floor that couldn't be used for real flooring).
They came in and laid down the floor and sanded it, and put on a coat of urethane(sp?). Another coat the next day, and a 3rd a couple days later. Let it dry and it came out BEAUTIFUL. And over time, it has darkened just as Martin assured me it would so that it really does match the rest of the floors. I would absolutely use Celtic Floorcraft again.

Celtic Floor Craft is a reliable and reputable company. Martin and his crew sanded and refinished four bedrooms, a study, LR, DR, and hallway in our home.
(We trusted him to restore the floors throughout our house while we were away on vacation. We moved all our belongings temporarily into our basement during this project.)
His work is outstanding - you can watch him work on a video clip from a Discovery channel home remodeling show at his company's website, www.celticfloorcraft.net/ The floors look great and Martin left our house neat and tidy

We were concerned about many black water stains on the floor which we had tried to remove ourselves.
Martin removed all stains without leaving any trace of previous black. Floor was sanded quickly by a dustless method. 3 coats of polyurethane. We had discussed using marine varnish which he was willing to try. After researching the quality of the varnish he used I was satisfied that this would work with 3 coats. Work was done quickly on successive days and the finished product looks great. Martin was easy to work with, was prompt and area was cleaned up after each work session. I had called 3 references before hand and they were all pleased with both large and small jobs.

The floor installation went wonderfully. When starting the project, I called a couple flooring companies to come give me estimates of the job. Martin @ Celtic Floorcraft came out, and gave me what I feel was a very reasonable estimate. He also recommended that I remove the existing floor myself, in order to save a significant amount of money on labor charges doing something that was time-consuming hard work, but didn't require any particular skill (I'm a relatively handly 30-something male, so removing a floor with a circular saw and a couple big crowbars is within my capabilities).
Martin was very flexible with regard to scheduling appointments. He was happy to work around delays caused by the carpenter to get the work done as quickly and as unobtrusively as possible. Once the kitchen was ready for the new floor, he was there the next day to get it installed and sanded and a first coat applied. He came back on later days to put down 2nd and 3rd coats of poly, and was always on time and there when he said he'd be. While doing the work, he and his assistant were professional, friendly, and happy to explain the process. Once he was done, I was very happy with the work they did - the floor looks absolutely beautiful. There are no squeaks at all (in an 88 year old house!) either. I would happily use Celtic Floorcraft again for any flooring project.

Fine, but there are a few imperfections that I can't seem to stop seeing. One of the boards in one of the bedrooms has expanded and there is a hump in the floor. There are quite a few areas with swirl marks that look bad. There are areas where the stain wasn't put on correctly and it is darker than the other areas in the house. And there are areas where it's obvious that the floors weren't cleaned well enough and so there is dust and hair stuck underneath the poly.

Martin came by and gave us an estimate very quickly. We needed to move fast as we had only a few days before our move date. He made sure that the wood came the next day so they could start installing it as soon as possible. They did an excellent job, making sure that the work site was clean and taking care of our appliances that were already in the kitchen.

This is the 3rd time we have used Martin and his crew. Two times before he did entire houses for us in which nearly the entire footprint was hardwood. This time was a smaller project. He and his team are always punctual, professional and forthright. He's quick to tells us if he encounters a problem with the project or if he has scheduling issues.

Martin Fogarty, the owner, was initially responsive on the phone and stopped by to perform a free estimate. His price was quite competitive and very reasonable. He was able to fit me into the schedule on short notice. The work began on a Monday and formally ended three days later on Thursday, as promised. We also did a walk-through of the work on that Friday before payment was made. Martin brought two workmen with him and they did most of the work. Overall, I was very pleased with the quality of work and the results. The old floors had decades of wear and abuse and sun and water staining that needed to be sanded out. The "new" floors look very nice and make the house look so much better. But I felt I had to give slightly lower marks for Quality, Responsiveness, and Professionalism for this reason: * Although we did a final walk-through, I did notice later that day and the next some streaks of finish in the living room. To this day, it's hard to tell exactly what they are and they don't jump out at you too much. I contacted Martin several times about them, post-payment at this point of course, and although he offered each time to have a look at the streaks, he never followed through. In the end, I had to move forward as I just bought this place and needed to get the furniture in there so I could live in it! I would still recommend Celtic Floorcraft as the quality of about 99% of the floors was excellent, but I had to knock down the scores a little for the reason mentioned above.
