Austin Grimes piano service

Description of Work: I am a professional pianist and teacher, and Austin Grimes has been my technician and tuner for many years. His work is always top notch, and in addition he is a trustworthy person. I refer students to him, and I have heard very good things back from those people. One student told me that he made her piano sound better than it ever had before, though she had always had it regularly serviced - she had been told by her prior tech that the piano just needed to be rebuilt in order to be improved, but Austin was able to bring it back to life. I have also given his name to pianist colleagues and they have all continued to use his services after meeting him and seeing his work.

Description of Work: He tuned my spinet piano.

Description of Work: This was the second time Mr. Grimes came to work on my piano, which is a venerable but stubborn 1890s Steinway upright that had long resisted adequate tuning and repair. Mr. Grimes brought the piano back to full function and make it possible for me to play music with pleasure again. But in addition, he clearly enjoyed working on this unusual, senior citizen instrument, and we were thrilled together to discover signatures from some of the original piano-makers on the inner mechanisms. He is a pleasure to work with and combines great technical skill with a love of his art. I cannot recommend him highly enough!
