"[Member Name Removed], Your mom called us and asked if we could install running boards that she had purchased. Your mom never asked us anything about adaptive equipment or hand controls. We said yes, we could install running boards that she had purchased. She asked how much it would cost and we said without seeing the vehicle our best guess from ones we have installed in the past would be around a day/8 hrs @ $115 a hr to install. When your mom dropped the vehicle off she asked what we thought after quickly looking at her vehicle and we guessed a little more than a day (maybe around 10hrs) at our shop rate of $115 a hr. In the end it took 8hrs to fit them to the vehicle. When your mom came to pick up the van she paid the bill and left. 3 days later your sister called asking why we didn’t install hand controls in your mothers vehicle. I believe it was the next day that you posted this. Your mother never mentioned wanting or needing hand controls ever during any of the many times we spoke on the phone or when she was here. We asked if she was licensed to drive with hand controls and were told no. Had she asked about getting hand controls installed she would have found out we would not install them until she was licensed by the state to drive with them. We have been helping people with adaptive equipment installations for almost 40 years and don’t take advantage of anyone! We didn’t install any adaptive equipment for your mom, we simply installed running boards she purchased for less than we told her when we guessed what it could cost."
