We purchased granite from Titan and went to their showroom to pick out the slab that we wanted. It's important to note that this is one of the selling points of going to this company - you get to pick exactly what you're getting since the type of granite can vary greatly even within the same quarry and kind of granite.
They came and installed our kitchen countertops and everything went exactly as planned -- except it was the wrong slab. It was the same KIND of granite, but since it wasn't the slab we picked out, it looked very, very different. The crystals in the granite were so much bigger, and the overall color was different. This just didn't match our kitchen.
When I told them about it, they agreed that they installed the wrong thing and offered several things to do to make up for it. I wanted it replaced, but they said they couldn't do that or they would "damage my cabinets". Every time I spoke to them to talk about what to do to resolve the issue, the amount they were going to do to write their wrong went down. At first it was doing granite in both my bathrooms for free, then it was a knee-hole desk top for free and a bathroom, then it was a bathroom and $350. Then it was only $350. The owner told me "didn't make enough money" off my sale to give me anything else.
After three months of back-and-forth they agreed to give us $550 back. <<< This is after my husband had to talk to the owner because the owner, Ersan, told me that I was mistaken and I DID get the right granite even though I have pictures and other documentation that it isn't the right slab. He also told me on the phone that his worker, Fran, "got confused" when she told me that the wrong slab got installed. I was very irritated at being called a liar and had my husband take over. How completely rude and unprofessional. I don't want them coming to my house to install ANYTHING else because I can't be certain they'll install what they say they will.
$550 is a completely unfair amount given that now this granite doesn't match my kitchen! I now have to spend at least a thousand dollars to have the backsplash removed and replaced... and that still doesn't fix the fact that it doesn't match the cabinets anymore. This is a huge disaster. I should also mention that they told us they'd send us the check the next day, and that was like two weeks ago. We called today and they don't know if they've sent it or not and want us to continue to wait to see when it comes. Completely ridiculous.
I understand that mistakes happen, but resolving the issue like this is bad business and insulting to customers who spent thousands.
