We have worked with Mike Lynch and the Associate Roofing team for years on our commercial properties on Martha's Vineyard. I find them to be extremely responsive no matter the size of the job. They exercise great care when working on historic properties. The pricing is very competitive and jobs are completed quickly and professionally. I highly recommend Associate Roofing.

Had an excellent experience with Associate Roofing last October when we noticed water stains on one of the bedroom ceilings. Paul Lynch was very responsive to our need. He examined the existing roof and and confirmed our belief that it should be replaced. He provided a recommendation on the type of shingles that would be best for our home and sent us a complete proposal, including pricing. Within a few days a crew of three began the project. They stripped the existing roof the first day, working until dark. The next day they installed the new roof and replaced rotting fascia with Azek PVC trim board. The crew was very polite and professional. When they left the the yard was as clean as when they arrived. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience with Associate Roofing and would recommend them to anyone.

I dealt with many leaks and ice dam issues for years until I decided to have Associate Roofing, Inc replace my roof in Braintree MA a couple years ago. Since then i have had no problems and am thrilled with how great my new roof looks. I dealt with both Michael Lynch (owner) and Paul Lynch (general manager) they were professional and i can not be happier with the workmanship. This is an honest family oriented company that will stand behind there work and i would recommend them highly.

Dear Mike, I wanted to thank you again for all of the superior work that you have done for the Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust in the past 15 years. You and your company have been key to our efforts to preserve the island's landmarks and we greatly appreciate your professionalism and commitment. Many of the Trust's historic buildings are well protected today because of Associate Roofing; the Old Whaling Church, Alley's General Store, the Old Sculpin Gallery, the Grange Hall, the Old West Tisbury Library and the Dr. Daniel Fisher House, to name a few. Last year, you undertook the replacement of the roof at Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs, which included the complicated restoration of the color banding on the spire. In each project, it was a pleasure to work with your company. Also in each case, the results have been flawless. Over the years, you have installed red cedar, yellow cedar and asphalt shingle roofs, rubber membrane roofs and custom-fabricated copper gutters. We have not had a single issue with any job you have done for the Trust. Please feel free to list the Preservation Trust among your satisfied customers. In terms of workmanship, follow-through, efficiency and value, Associate is the best roofing contractor we have used - and we require the best for our unique properties. I'm happy to recommend your company without hesitation to anyone who needs a new roof, no matter how large or complex the job. Regards, Chris Scott

Price, professionalism, and quality has not changed in 30 years. Would recommend them in the future. At the end of each and every day, they cleaned up the entire yard. Paul Lynch gave me the best price and stood by his work. House lives on the ocean with a lot of wind, especially during the winter. The roof stood up without a single shingle being replaced in the 30 years that it was in service as opposed to other homes in the area having to repair their roofs only a few years later from other contractors. In addition, the cost of the new roof was only $3,000 more this time versus 30 years ago.

Problems from day one. Leaks, poorly done chimney flashing and major ventilation issues. Took 2 years of phone calls to get them to come out. After a visit to my home they promised to follow-up...never heard from them again. Poor quality install and terrible customer service.

I recently joined Angie's List and believe that other consumers should have information concerning Associate Roofing, Inc. since the company is still run by Mike Lynch.  My husband hired Associate to replace the shingle roof on our house.  Within a few years, the roof started leaking in multiple areas. Associate’s “roofers” installed the skylight flashing improperly and did exactly what the instructions issued by the skylight manufacturer instructed not to do- nail the flashing to the roof decking. The flashing should have been nailed to the skylight frame.  This explains why the roof leaked at all of the skylights causing $26,000.00 in water damage inside the house. The high quality Velux skylights never leaked prior to Associate improperly installing new flashings as part of the roof shingle replacement.

Associate also failed to install the architectural shingles in the manner recommended by the manufacturer.  This installation error explains why the end shingles of the courses are falling off.  In fact, Associate failed to follow any uniform pattern for the shingle installation.  One “roofer” from Associate used one pattern, and other workers used different patterns.  The roof shingles have no uniformity. There are also numerous areas where Associate workers improperly low nailed shingles because they were simply careless or in a rush. Several of these low nailed shingles leaked and had to be patched.

Finally, the copper work was not performed correctly because pieces of copper trim and flashing were not fastened adequately and pulled away from the roof decking.

Three other well-known roofing companies who inspected Associate’s work were incredulous at the quality of the work performed.  We have been quoted upwards of $5,000.00 just to rectify the skylight problem.  Another established roofing company recommended that the entire roof that was only a few years old should be completely removed and a new roof installed at a cost of between $16,000.00 to $23,000.00. Despite protracted litigation with Associate, we were never fully compensated for the improper installation and the ensuing headaches.  Don’t be fooled by the website and testimonials. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

After contacting Associate Roofing Inc., Paul Lynch promptly scheduled a site visit and provided a quote which was on the lower end of the four competative quotes I received. My experience with Associate was excellent from quote to clean-up and I would highly recommend them. Paul Lynch is a pleasure to work with, has a keen understanding of roofing and is willing to explain the roofing process. Once the schedule was set, Paul assisted me in selecting a shingle that would best suit my home. He was readily available to take my calls and extremely responsive, keeping me apprised throughout the scheduling and work process. The workers arrived as planned, they were polite and nearly silent as they diligently approached the job with the care and confidence of true craftsmen. A friend had recommended Associate to me for the same reasons I experienced and described above. It is with ease that I recommend them.

I received 3 other estimates from the top rated competitors and Associate came in very close to the lowest bid. I did some research and found 2 other people I knew who used Associate and they all had a good experience/work done, so I went with Paul and team. Pauls a character, but a good guy and knows the business well. It took a few days to get them out for an estimate (busy period with winter coming), but they started the job within a week and were in and out in 2.5 days including clean up. Mark was the lead on the project, the other guys were good too, but I can't say enough about Mark. He really cared about doing a great job and didn't cut any corners. I agreed ahead of time that I would paint the trim and they would just be putting it up.  Instead of leaving the trim with the nail holes, he ended up putting a second coat of paint on the entire trim which I didn't expect and was very thankful for. I was around when they were doing the work, and constantly checking things out.. even up on the roof a couple times, not the easiest client. There were several things i requested they do that they do like pull some side shingles off and run ice/water up the wall, and Mark wouldn't even let me take the easy route, he really wanted it done right.. even though it wasn't really in the scope of the project.

Overall, really happy with the roof, professionalism and the job of the Associate team... and I'm a tough critic. My first Angie's post.

A tarp was immediately put on my roof to protect until insurance adjuster could give quote. After quote was given we did have to wait several weeks due to many days of off and on rain. But when the work was started it was done in one day and everything was cleaned up afterwards. Company was easy to get hold of when i had questions.

I thought they did an excellent job until this winter when we had ice dams. The company dealing with the ice dams showed me photos proving that the ice and water shield had not been properly installed. There is no way i would have known this. While the work was being done over Memorial Day weekend, my house was broken into and jewelry was stolen. i cannot prove it was their workers but it is a strange coincidence.

Paul came over immediately and gave me an estimate--the lowest I'd gotten His crew started work the next day and finished the day after that. No hassles. And the crew patiently waited while the local building inspector arrived and started showing muscle. Happy ending: The roof just survived a 15-inch snowfall.

They stated that the rot of the window/window trim was due to the stucco finish of the house. They personally took no accountability for the water damage to our window based on the installation of the gutter.

I can't  say enough about how happy we are that we made the decision to have Associate Roofing put a brand new roof on our Victorian Home, as well as our huge four car garage.  The owner himself went above and beyond to help us pick out the high quality shingles ,we desired both in looks and quality. He is a very experienced with a great wealth of knowledge, both in roofing and other home improvements !!  Everyone who worked on the project was very considerate and worked in a very efficient team. When the project was  being worked on, our home, yard, and neighbors
yard were maintained and protected. . There was not one nail or piece of material left when  the job was completed. I also hired them later, to do a smaller job, on our flat roof, replacing it with a rubber roof. Again it was done with high quality and craftsmanship.
@  After having many roofing companies look at the job and give us quotes, it was easy to decide to pick, Associate Roofing. They were the most honest of all, told us things we did not need that others tried to build into their price .The owner came out several times while the work was being done, and all their workers were very polite and worked so hard in 95 degree heat, with a smile on their faces..
An A+++++++++ Would not hesitate and have recommend them to others, who hired them and were just as happy :)

This is the second time used. Was responsive to my need for a quick response, because my house is on the market and I had sudden severe leaks from a major storm. The one day job was completed within two and a half weeks from first calling. On site worker supervision was lacking that day, and I had to step in on a few carelessness issues. No harm done however. A trim area needed rework, which was addressed promptly to my satisfaction.

PAUL LYNCH, GENERAL MANAGER WAS VERY COOPERATIVE AND HELPFUL DURING THE ESTIMATE PROCESS, PROMPTLY SENDING ME SEVERAL REVISIONS AT MY REQUEST. ONCE THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED, HOWEVER, IT WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. PAUL WAS UNWILLING TO COMMIT TO A START DATE FOR MY SMALL JOB DURING THEIR ''BUSY SEASON.'' THE WORKERS, WHEN THERE, WERE VERY GOOD. BUT AFTER SHOWING UP FOR 2 DAYS, THEY LEFT THE JOB UNFINISHED, DUE TO NOT HAVING A TALL ENOUGH LADDER (??!). TO BE FAIR, THEY ALSO NEEDED SOME MATERIALS THAT I WAS PROVIDING, BUT THOSE ARRIVED WITHIN A FEW DAYS, AND I NOTIFIED THEM PROMPTLY OF THEIR ARRIVAL, BUT THEY DID NOT RETURN. TWO WEEKS LATER, AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS AND VAGUE ASSURANCES OF A RETURN TO THE JOB, THE JOB WAS STILL UNFINISHED. FINALLY, WHEN I THREATENED TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE TO FINISH THE JOB AND DEDUCT THE COST FROM MONEY OWED, THEY CAME THE NEXT MORNING TO FINISH THE WORK.

DID AN EXCELLENT AND SPEEDY JOB. ALMOST EVERYTHING WAS COMPLETED IN LESS THAN THREE WORKING DAYS. NEIGHBORS WERE AMAZED AT THE SPEED. VERY GOOD CLEAN UP AT THE END OF EACH DAY, AND THE END OF THE JOB. NEIGHBORS WITHIN 8 FEET OF OUR HOUSE CALLED TO SAY HOW PLEASED THEY WERE WITH THE MINIMAL DISRUPTION TO THEM, AND THE EXCELLENT CLEAN UP. GARDEN AREA WELL PROTECTED AND NOT DAMAGED. ONE PIECE OF VINYL SIDING THAT WAS DAMAGED ON REMOVAL DELAYED THE FINAL COMPLETION FOR A FEW DAYS, BECAUSE THE BRAND HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THEY HAD TO MAKE A REPLACEMENT PIECE. VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK.
