with a general dentist and an endodontist who
couldn't solve my problem or even correctly diagnose it. Because my
dear departed dad was a Tufts-graduate dentist, I went to Tufts faculty
practice for an evaluation from endodontist Dr. Kerith Rankin. (The faculty practice isn't
the regular school practice. It's staffed by experienced dentists who
teach in the school. Prices are similar to any dentists' offices, I think.)
I was able to get an appointment quickly. Dr Rankin's "bedside personality"
was great -- first time I've laughed in a dental office. Turns out my
previous endodontist had done a needless root canal, thinking the first one
had failed. Then the same dentist had wanted to cut a hole in my gum to
go in and saw off the tip of the tooth's root then fill it from the inside, thinking
that would solve my infection problem. That's when I went for another opinion.
Dr. Rankin sent me for a 3D xray at Tufts. That told the real story:
The root had a fracture, with no way to fix it. I'd already spent
$1500 after insurance on a needless
re-root canal and was told I should spend more for a surely painful
operation to saw off the root tip. Thanks to Dr. Rankin, I know the
real picture: the tooth can't be saved.
I'm sad about having to lose the tooth, but very glad
I didn't have a hole cut in my gum and spend much more money all
needlessly to save a tooth that couldn't be saved. Tufts has equipment
that many dentists don't, I think -- like the 3D xray machine. And at least one dentist
who knows how to use it. I highly recommend Tuft's faculty practice. I don't have
experience with the school practice, but after I lose my Cobra dental insurance,
I may try it.
They once got me in right away for a toothache that was just unbearable when my other dentist could not get me in for a few days. When they got me in the realized the only real way to relieve the pain was through a root canal. They did a root canal for me the very same day and I felt so much better afterward. I have never before heard of anyone being able to get you in the same day and perform a root canal.
I live 60 miles away and I would drive to them anytime because of the amazing service that you get, and the way that they have gone above and beyond for me in the past.
My appointments with Dr. Sadi went very well, as has been the case with every appointment which I had with her since she became my dentist almost 4 years ago. She is very professional to work with, she shows sensitivity and concern towards the patient, she communicates very well and explains the treatments which are needed, etc. I have a great deal of confidence in her ability and professionalism.
The most recent appointment concluded a 3 step treatment process in which she restored a tooth by placing a crown on it. The 12/27 appointment was the final appointment during which she installed the permanent crown. The work went very well and was completed quickly and painlessly.I have been very pleased with the dental treatment which I have received at Tufts Dental School over the past four years. All my dental treatments have been done in the graduate departments of the school (General Practices Residency dept., Periodontal dept., Othodontics Dept.). Their dentists have been excellent and the treatments have been very satisfactory. I have not had any experience in the undergraduate division of the Dental School, so I cannot comment on their services.
I do recommend Dr. Hana Sadi of Tufts Dental School, based on my extensive experience of receiving dental treatments from her. She is, in my opinion, an excellent dentist.
