Description of Work: Peter and his staff cleaned several paintings that had gotten exposed to soot from a fire in another part of our house.

 + -1 moreI sent one small painting to Peter Williams in the mail. I didn't think that I had a lot to lose. I later called Peter to ask whether he could clean and repair the painting, how long it would take and what it would cost. His response completely surprised me. The work was completed within days at an extremely reasonable price. I went to his studio in Boston to retrieve the painting and to drop off another. His studio is like an adventure. Peter performs work for collectors and auction houses. In his studio he cleans and restores paintings and frames. If you have old paintings, I would recommend that you check with Peter about restoring them to their original brilliance. I would go to his shop. It is worth the time. Peter and his people are extremely capable. I was thrilled and completely satisfied with the experience.
Description of Work: I inherited several oil paintings from my father. They had been painted by my grandmother. The paintings are 60 - 70 years old and are very dirty as my father was a heavy smoker. The paintings were very dark. They lacked the brilliance that I remembered. I asked Peter Williams to clean and repair the paintings. I wanted to try to restore them to the condition that I remembered from childhood (I am 53).
