This property management company is truly one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, not just in real estate but in any part of my life. My building switched to them this past year. The first correspondence I received from them was a "cease and desist" notice regarding my short term rentals, which had never been a problem with the previous management or with the condo association. So rather than starting with a friendly approach - i.e., hi how are you, we're here, some rules have changed, hope you understand - they immediately went nuclear and confrontatlonal. They were like this about everything. As time went on dealing with them became so horrible that wedecided to sell the condo, and during the sale they made every dealing, getting every form, every single possible thing that could be made difficult, they made it far worse. One particularly ridiculous instant was someone from their company took my credit card number over the phone - to pay for something I really shouldn't have to pay for, a form I needed to sell the place - and then "lost" the credit card number, holding up my buyer's mortgage approval. Then another employee called me to yell at me for never giving them the number! I can't tell if they are incompetent or are actually trying to screw things up on purpose, but I would strongly recommend never getting involved with this company in any way.
Description of Work: Took over management of 8 Battery St., Boston, in which we (at that time) owned a unit. They immediately made everyone feel like we were living in some kind of prison in which we had to pay for the privilege! Whenever they 'need' anything (like access to your apartment) they send out these demand notices that read like evictions; whenever you need something from them they a) don't answer the phone; b) charge you an exorbitant 'emergency' fee; and c) don't show up. When you need a form from them they take days, send it to you incompletely (even though you've specifically asked them to fill it out), charge you (again exorbitantly) and then get self-righteous when you approach them about it. They were so horrible on so many levels that it quickly became clear that selling the unit was not only the only option, but was clearly what they had in mind. They were so bad that it almost seemed like they were TRYING to be bad! Truly horrible company.

This company charged us a lot of money and provided very minimal service in return. Requests and emails to the company were not answered or were answered only after being asked numerous times. The company made numerous mistakes in managing our finances. They obtained estimates for work on the building from their network of providers that were outrageously overpriced. For example, a work estimate that they obtained for a painting touch up job was ultimately completed with our own vendor, who charged less than 20% of their estimate.
Description of Work: Our condominium homeowner's association hired Mediate to manage the building.
