Joseph Gann started off on his own in the middle of the Great Depression as a watch-maker. He worked 7 days a week repairing pocket watches and wrist watches for customers and other jewelry stores. On July 28, 1933, only a few months after he opened his door, his picture was published in the Boston American newspaper (precurser to the Herald) holding a diamond ring. The caption read "The days of Jewelry are Coming Back." 75 years later and 3 generations of family ownership, Joseph Gann Jewelers is known in Boston as a reputable store specializing in engagement rings and wedding bands as well a Wedding Registry including fine china, crystal and flatware. And we still repair and sell watches.
