The crew was generally unobtrusive, always punctual, and took extraordinary care with the job, even when it proved to be more work than they had initially expected. Their work was so superior that the rooms they rehabbed looked new. Because their work was due to storm damage, it was paid for via insurance. HOWEVER, the quality of the work was so good, that when we  compared it to the condition of the walls in adjacent rooms, we decided to have them re-do a larger, adjacent area, all at our own expense. Matt was a pleasure to deal with, stayed in touch, and immediately responded to any questions we had. Our ONLY concern was occasional difficulty communicating with the crew (who generally spoke Spanish and Portuguese) but a combo of my, admittedly poor, Spanish, and questions to Matt, resolved that quickly.
I would recommend them without reservation. However, if you have them perform a job in one area of your home, then the other areas will pale in comparison!

Hamel Painters were recommended to us by Servepro.  Servepro handled all the demolition work.  We worked with Matt Hamel. Matt was very responsive and organized.  He worked with my insurance company (Amica) and was able to get some repairs approved that the insurance adjuster never addressed.  Matt was great keeping us informed and his staff were very neat and punctual.

We had water damage on all 3 floors or our triple decker in Boston due to a clogged drain on the roof. ServPro came to remove the damaged plaster and recommended Hamel Painting to do the repairs. Hamel did excellent job of providing a detailed quote and working with our insurance company. They were very punctual and always showed up when they said they would and did a good job of keeping us informed of what was going on. They did a great job of plastering and painting as well as sanding and refinishing our floors.

Hamel Painters did an excellent job!  They were flexible, detail-oriented, and professional throughout the project.  The first day, I made some last minute changes to the scope of work (added repair and painting of the cracked living room ceiling), and they accommodated the changes, no problem.  The work itself was excellent: the previously cracked ceiling and walls look great, and I have yet to spot even one drip on the white trim.  Lastly, they were professional and completed the job timely.  The last day of the project was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.  A less professional service provider may have rushed and completed the work sloppily that afternoon, but they stayed and did it right.  I would highly recommend Hamel Painters.

I cannot say enough good things about Hamel Painters.  They are professional, priced very competitively and are incredibly responsive during the project. 
To begin, when Matt comes out for the initial estimate, be prepared for him to spend a lot of time doing detailed measurements. While it took more time than other companies, it led to very precise estimates for all the work that didn't change as the work was being done.
We had a lot of contractors through the house for various jobs, and liked Hamel Painters the most.   Have a question on Saturday night at 10 pm?  Text Matt and you'll probably have an answer that evening or at worst, the following morning.  Concerned about price?  They'll work with you to try to get costs down. 
In terms of the work itself I'll start with the painting.  We bought a house that had all interior trim a dark wood stain and all walls a pale yellow.  In addition, the windows were the older sash style so each window had some number of wooden dividers.  It was a lot of work to paint them and the walls, and they did all of it in the downstairs and just the walls in the upstairs.  They did a great job.  Consistent finish, plenty of coats to block out the dark wood trim (we went with a cream color on all our trim).  In addition, our family room had real wood, pine paneling.  They filled all knot holes and inconsistencies and painted over that as well.  They did a great job.  There were some minor mistakes, but they took care of all of them free of charge. 
In terms of the floors, they did a very nice job.  They matched the new floors to the old perfectly.  You can't tell which is which.  Also and again, their prices were very competitive.  The only issue we've had is that we asked them to use a water based urethane and then moved in 48 hours after it was completed and we have noticed some scratching that was beyond what we thought it would be.  This brings me to perhaps my only critique of them (or a suggestion for them).  That is, they could be a bit more pushy with their own opinions.  For the floors, we didn't know that a water urethane would be less durable and more prone to scratching and they didn't really tell us that, they just took our desire for low VOC and got the best product they could that fit our desire.  Knowing the pros and cons of water vs. oil urethane is something that a person without knowledge of these things beforehand would like to know when deciding on how to do the floors.  But, to show you how GREAT they are, after discussing it with them, on their own they offered to come in when we're away on vacation this summer and, FREE OF CHARGE, do another coat of poly and buff it so that it has a full 7 days to cure.  Really, what company does that?! 
Some other examples of the kind of amazing service that sets them above others are as follows:  The banister to our staircase was loose from the previous owners.  Because Hamel Painters had to remove the spindles to paint them and to refinish the hardwood treads, when they put the staircase back together they re-anchored the entire banister for free and now it is very solid.  When they discovered a hole in the ceiling of the main floor bathroom closet to allow access to the pipes, they installed an access panel over it free of charge.  When the person who was supposed to rip out my carpets so that Hamel could refinish the existing hardwood didn't show up, Matt just had his guys do it for the same cheap price I had been quoted by the other person.  Yet another example is that they quoted us a price to carpet the upstairs but the price was higher than a price we got independent of them.  Matt asked me who the company was and when I told him he was like, "Huh, we work with them a lot, I wonder why our price is so high."  He ended up reaching out to the other company that we got our better price from and setting them up to come in and do the carpeting for that better price.  They patched behind the electrician/carpenter coming through, skimmed the walls where there was glue after some kitchen cabinets had been demo'ed, and on and on.
Ultimately, we just can't say enough good things about them.  They aim to please and don't miss.  They just go above and beyond to make you happy.  Matt was accessible day and night, weekday or weekend.   You can't go wrong using them!!

I decided to paint my condo this fall and began interviewing painters in September but when I became disillusioned with the bids I was receiving, I turned to Yelp and Angie's List for local businesses with the highest ratings. Hamel Painters was the third organization out of six that I contacted. I knew shortly into my first meeting with Matt Hamel that I wanted to work with Hamel Painters. Matt had all of the answers to my questions. He was extremely professional, his proposal was detailed and he came with an extensive and impressive portfolio. After interviewing six prospects, it was obvious that Hamel Painters was my number one choice. I checked their references and was elated to hear that the painters were respectful with the owner's property and meticulous in their work. Furthermore, I was told that Matt was 100% hands-on and always available during the job. After two glowing recommendations, from people who appeared to be as cautious and particular as me, my mind was made up to enter into a contract and even that process went smoothly. 
 
Before I elaborate on the job that Hamel Painters did, I want to explain that I am not the type of person who is easily pleased which I am sure is a challenge for any vendor I work with. I am extremely particular and look for perfection - especially when it comes to my home. With that said, I truly believe that I hit the jackpot with Hamel Painters. "Impeccable" was the first word my sister used when she walked into my condo. Fabio was the lead painter on my job and he is an artist!  All of the crew did a fabulous job. I moved out of my home while the work was being done but checked in every other evening to find the place always left tidy. Furthermore, my alarm was always set as I had requested and my punch list items were addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. Matt was in daily contact with me during the job and even after completion he has been available to answer various questions.
I would also like to mention that Hamel Painters offers a three-year warranty which I did not find with anyone else. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Hamel Painters, my home looks beautiful and their work was flawless.  I can't say enough positive comments about this company; they were well worth every penny.

I received quotes from 3 companies. Hamel was the lowest. Part of the difference was they recommended only one coat on the ceilings [two on the walls] which worked out fine, but even accounting for that they were still the lowest.
The showed up at the appointment time for the estimate, used a laser device to measure the rooms and sent a detailed quote with exact dimension drawings  of the rooms.
.We contracted with them and they were able to squeeze our job in earlier than originally promised. The workers were very professional and when the work was completed Matt walked the job with us to be sure everything was to both his and our satisfaction.

Matt and his crew were more than you'd expect from a paint contractor...they walked into a dusty grimy warehouse where they prepped and patched up a mess for a smoother look which was not quoted but a nice surprise) ...matt was the most responsive contractor we've ever dealt with...nights, weekends doesn't matter, diligent and almost more worried about the project than we are...the roof was also being done on the building and when they discovered rotted wood they needed to replace boards which the Hamel crew gladly repainted the section. nice bunch of guys who, 'strange as it sounds', care about what they're doing. nice job.

The price was reasonable. I liked their rating on Angie's List. They were quite professional when they came to my house.

Hamel Painters were interviewed for exterior painting of  my home and stain the deck.  I have very high standards and not only did Hamel Painters meet my expectations, they surpassed in every area.   Both Nate & Matt came prepared with a portfolio of pictures of their work, along with their EPA Lead-Safe certificate and other awards and certificates they earned.    The quote was delivered a day earlier than expected.   The price was very reasonable; when you compare the quality of workmanship and attention to detail and overall cleanliness of the area each day.
Communications via telephone and e-mail messages between Nate and Matt were very responsive and timely.  They excelled in listening to my concerns and remembering what was important to me.  The men were  remarkable -- pleasant, polite and trustworthy.  They worked a full day and arrived daily. 
The exterior of my home was prepped - the windows and outside lighting covered with plastic and the cement foundation was carefully covered so no paint splattered.  Hamel Painters thought of every detail so no issues arose.    The house was sanded,  washed, primed and coated with 2 coats of Benjamin Moore paint.  Also the front door was stained per my wishes instead of painting, a portion of the wooden trim was replaced with a perfect match, the cellar window frames and gutters were painted and the rear deck was stained.  At the end of each day they cleaned up impeccable, not a trace of paint or paint chips anywhere.
I would highly recommend Hamel Painters and would re-hire them in a heart beat.  My neighbors have already requested their contact information.  I believe both Nate and Matt have a very successful future ahead of them and I am excited to share this information with you.

First of all, the communication skills are excellent, and his punctuality is great. He tells you ahead of time and he is never late. The team was professional, courteous, responsible, took very good care of the security of the building. They made sure all of the doors were always closed and locked behind them. They cleaned up amazingly each night before they left. Everything in the way of workmanship that was promised was delivered. There were a couple instances were the work needed to be tweaked. He always offered to make it better, I did not have to point it out. He came back to inspect the work done by his crews. He responded to all of my texts or emails immediately. I never had to wait for a response. Most of the time he initiated the contact. the quality of his painters was unusually good. The workmanship was sort of Michaelangelo quality. So it was not just the service that was great, it was the quality. He is young, but one of the brightest contractors I have ever met. He is bright, sharp, andhas  very good customer service skills. He is the kind of a guy his mother would be proud of. All of the guys were pleasant and personable, arrived with a smile, left with a smile. They let us know when they were leaving each evening. I would invite him back in a dead minute to work on our brownstone again. I would call him again for any work whatsoever. I would wait for him if he was backed up.

Nate Hamel visited two days after our initial contact and reviewed the project.  Their proposal was received later that same day. Because their proposed solution was the best of the quotes we received, the job was given to Hamel. The work was scheduled based on our convenience, about 5 weeks later.  We moved much of the small furniture and contents to the basement before work started (books, nick-knacks, photos etc.), and the remaining heavy furniture was moved as necessary by Hamel?s crew.  The crew of three workers was chosen because they had the most expertise with plaster renovations as well as painting.  They were courteous and capable, and reported every day on time, and worked a full day.  The work proceeded much faster than we expected, and the entire project was completed in 5 work days.  All of the sheetrock went up and was skimmed and sanded in 3 days, and allowed to cure over the weekend.  The remainder of the work was completed the following Monday and Tuesday.  Work areas were properly isolated and cleaned up every day, and our belongings were well protected.
Nate or Matt Hamel checked in frequently to make sure the work was progressing properly and the workers had what they needed, and met with us afterward to inspect the work and make sure we were satisfied.  I would highly recommend Hamel Painters to others, and will definitely use them again. The result is like a new home! Ceilings are smooth and perfect, and the wall preparation restored them to
their original smooth surfaces.

I contacted Nate Hamel through Angie's List, and he responded very quickly, within 24 hours. He was able to come see the job a couple days later, and by the end of that same day he had sent me a thorough quote (complete with floor maps of every affected room in my house, with their correct dimensions and layout). Impressive.
I had also contacted two other highly rated painting companies for this work, but Nate's quote came in significantly cheaper than the others, plus his crew was available within about a week. He was also praised by one of the competitors for the job, which I took as a very good sign.
I communicated with Nate (by both phone and email) in the week before the job started, to nail down the exact schedule and supply him with paint color information. On the appointed day, he and his crew showed up promptly, I showed them around and reviewed the work to be done, and they got to work.Nate stayed for the first couple hours to ensure everything was being done right, then left. his crew of two worked from 9-5 the first day and 8-6:15 the following day, and then they were done. Nate followed up promptly with a call to make sure that everything had gone well, and I assured him that it had. The crew was quick, clean, cheap, and the paint work was high-quality. I have no complaints at all. I would be very pleased to hire Hamel Painters again for any painting job.

I had a tenant moving in and one moving out with very little wiggle room.  I called a few painters and they were not able to work with the tight schedule that I needed.  I called Nate, and he assured me that he could work within the time frame that I had available.  I was very pleased with the results and the process.  Nate's pricing structure with different costs for different level finishes really made
it clear what I was paying for and eliminated any surprises or unnecessary expense.  I was also impressed with his knowledge about what paints could and couldn't be used over existing surface and his concern for keeping a safe and clean work environment. I was concerned about lead dust etc as home is old and a rental.  Nate seemed very knowledgeable and capable of handling that aspect of the job.  His crew was very professional and also a pleasure to work with and the place looked great.

I was very pleased with the results.  I called Hamel Painters on very short notice to paint my apartment before moving in.  Nate responded promptly and said he'd be able to get the job completed before I was scheduled to move in. It wasn't a difficult job - basically just a color change as the place had been recently painted white.  The crew showed up on time the first morning when I met them with the keys.  I left the keys with them and after that they let themselves in.  The job was completely on schedule for the agreed price and my keys were left on the counter for me on the last day.  I was very pleased with the result, all the walls were cleanly cut and no paint was left of the carpet.  This had been my experience when I'd tried to paint myself at my last place.

The room turned out beautifully, and the clean-up was very professional. Overall, they did a good job, but there were minor glitches. Nate underestimated the amount of work to be done, and then had to scramble to get all of the work done in the time promised.  I was not able to be present for the entire time that they worked, and once the back door was left wide open.  The next day a different person was sent to finish the job, and everything was completed the next day with both doors securely locked when I returned.  It took a long time to receive the invoice (months), but when the bill did come it was right at the estimated price.
