Gomes Plumbing and Heating is a Family Operated plumbing, heating and gas fitting service company. We are based out of Boston, MA and serve a 25 mile radius of the city. WE have four sevice technicians and offer 24 hour emergency seven days a week. Gomes is fully licensed. Mass Master Plumber and Gas fitters # 15006. An initial service fee of $70.00 is charged for service calls. Once an assessment is made, a flat rate charge will be dicussed and agreed to before the work will begin. I called Frank at 9:30pm and told him I had an emergency. He showed up at my rental property 20 minutes later (even before me) and got to work right away. The charge was $200 just to show up for the emergency service. But it was money well spent.
He came back first thing the next morning with his crew to continue the job. When I needed him to come back for something else, he responded promptly. He charged another $400 to fix the burst pipe - this was a bit expensive.
We will hire him again for emergency situations since he lives very nearby - but his prices are definitely on the high end.
From this point on, Frank exceeded all expectations for professionalism and responsibility. Unfortunately, what turned out to be a poor-quality fitting on the cooktop broke when Frank was taking things apart. It proved impossible to repair or replace the fitting, which came from Italy with the cooktop 20 years ago. Once the repair possibilities were exhausted, Frank purchased and installed a new gas cooktop at no cost to us. It was all done as quickly and carefully as we could hope.
We're sure that many contractors would either have walked away from this or looked for a reason not to be responsible for the problem. It can be a real test of character when things don't go as well as they should. Frank passed with an A plus.
