Let me tell you the story: This is my second time using David Silverman for my refinancing. The first time, I contacted him for a back-up estimate on a mortgage, and his rates were the best. Being a loyal (and cheap) guy, I told my former mortgage broker David's offer, and my former broker said that those rates were impossible. So I used David instead of my former broker. And it turned out that the impossible was in fact possible. Not being a very trusting person, now that I am buying a second home, I asked him for an estimate, and then asked for a back-up estimate from someone else. The back-up broker asked what David's rates were, and when I refused to tell him, he gave me a much higher estimate on my mortgage. When I told him that David's rates were lower, he gave another, lower estimate, which was still higher than David's. Finally, I told him what David's rates were. By now I knew that he would not be able to beat David's rates by enough to make me consider switching, but just for curiousity, I told him David's rates. His response was: "Rates that low are not possible. I warn you that they are probably trying to pull a bait-and-switch on you." This is the second time I have gone with David, and despite the fact that his rates seem "too good to be true," they actually are real. This is not to say that I am going to trust him next time around. I am just not a trusting guy. But if you go to him for comparison shopping, you will likely save a bundle.
