It has been there for about 60 years. It is a family run business. They were terrific. I am in there every week.

Their prices are reasonable. They have good customer service and they are locally owned. They are nice and helpful.

Charles St Supply is the quintessential neighborhood hardware store. If you think the stores cramped now, you should have seen it when it was half the size with a fish market on the other side! My family has been shopping there for more than thirty years. We've grown up with Dick, Jack, Norm and the rest of the crew. When my brother locked himself in the bathroom, we called Jack for advice. When we got locked out of the house, we went to CSSC because they had a spare. This is a shopping list store. I went to get a vacuum cleaner, bags, a roll of duct tape and cedar chips. That's exactly what I got. I also dropped off a lamp to be rewired. I didn't have to hem and haw over a wall full of options. Instead, the guy I talked to asked what general style I wanted. I didn't care much beyond being able to carry it up and downstairs. This is true for most of their customers. They know the neighborhood and have stocked their shelves accordingly. And they deliver! Not only am I a customer for life, but one for generations.

When ever I go there I can ask questions and they will answer. They will send someone to my house if I need them. They are the closest thing to old fashion service with a smile that you can get.
